QUOTE(khsj @ Aug 8 2015, 12:33 PM) old hdd already activated when upgraded from win 8.1 to win 10 if your win10 already activated on old hdd, just give windows 1-2days then check activate or not..from here Why can't I activate Windows 10?QUOTE Hardware changes
If you made substantial hardware changes to your PC, such as replacing your hard drive or motherboard, Windows might no longer be activated on your PC. For info on how to activate your PC, see the product activation article. maybe u want to give a try using extracting key then use into windows 10 on your SSD http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.htmlThis post has been edited by AmeiN: Aug 8 2015, 01:04 PM

Clean install on old hardware (HDD) should be possible. Changing to SSD might be the cause why windows failed to activate - if that's the case, call la Microsoft support.
p/s: Windows 8.1 original or lanun version?

Getting Started

|
This is how i did my clean install. Upgrade from Windows 8.1 to 10. After upgrade completed, extract the product key from upgraded windows 10 (there are some free tools to do this, i forgot mine as i tried a few tools before i perform clean install).
Create a bootable USB by using the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10). U will need a minimum 4GB USB flash drive depend on the Windows version u download.
Boot up using USB, format and clean install with the extracted product key.
So, you might wanna swap back old HDD, extract the product key and then swap back to SSD and perform clean install again.

Getting Started

|
FYI, I did clean install on new SSD after upgrading to windows 10 on my HDD. But one thing I did before clean installation on new SSD - retrieve the windows 10 cd key after the upgrade on old HDD. Please note that windows 10 key is different from key in your previous windows.
Then, I entered the key during the new installation when it prompted.

i also did migration, it works no problem.
step: 1. windows media tool to download iso file, use win7 usb tool to put at usb drive. 2. laptop uefi bios (it store oem key), hdd is gpt partition, win 8.1 upgraded to win10. (within upgrade installation, i chose 'keep nothing') 3. migrate to ssd by using easeus todo backup. (clone disk option) 4. now boot up fast as andriod phone.
* take note, the ori win8 key is stored in laptop uefi bios, so microsoft just detect n activate. now win10 do have a new key, alread written down on paper as safe copy.

QUOTE(bowerchung @ Aug 12 2015, 08:09 AM) Anyone here know how can i burn my windows 10 home edition to the USB pendrive after upgrading the windows. I am trying to use it for clean install in future Get the media creation kit from MS and run that. Then use the create disk to upgrade another PC and select USB drive. Creating a CD might be less problematic. The setup kept asking for media driver during my install and I found out it was cos of my thumbdrive. Went through the whole process again to create the installation pack on another thumbdrive and it worked. P.S. To the original TS. I did the Win7 to Win10 upgrade on my original HDD then pulled it and ran a clean installation on an SSD. It was activated without any intervention on my part.
