QUOTE(AmeiN @ Aug 22 2015, 07:50 AM) QUOTE(zaman_chem @ Aug 22 2015, 07:55 AM) .. don't be ridiculous. that's the same generic key that we all knew since weeks ago.https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=75684493 |

QUOTE(AmeiN @ Aug 22 2015, 10:35 AM) because i read somewhere on microsoft blog i quest we still can extract key.. yes you can still extract the key. the thing is that if we used w10 upgrade, we all have the same dummy key.so it is impossible to get key after upgrade? as of now, we will not be given a valid and unique w10 key with w10 upgrade offer. hardware id is the only thing that is used to identify our computers and activate w10 on it. i found what happened to ts weird, because some one did the same thing and got it to work. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=75802021 This post has been edited by horns: Aug 22 2015, 11:01 AM |

QUOTE(ngyinchew @ Aug 23 2015, 08:48 PM) Just want to share that what i did. weird. actually that's not the case for your case 2 (msi laptop). i did the same on xps (stock w8.1 core key in bios; but i use w81. pro retail) on w8.1 pro to w10 pro; w10 pro got activated after clean install. i waited for a few days before doing the clean install.Surface pro 3: I upgrade the windows pro 8.1 oem to windows 10 pro with no problem, and ensure the windows successfully activated And then I get the ISO from windows website, and do a clean install directly using that ISO and once login to windows 10 pro and connected to Internet, it showing windows activated. Msi gt70 2od: this computer come with windows 8.1 single language oem , and then I got the retail windows 8.1 pro key from student offer and has been used in this computer. When prompted to upgrade to windows 10 , with no problem as well, it showing activated. After that I use the same ISO from Microsoft to perform clean install, but this computer cannot be activated under windows 10 pro, however I still manage to activate the windows if I upgrade to windows 10 from windows 8.1 pro So I'm thinking that, if the laptop perform clean install of windows 10, it will read the key form bios (oem single license) and store somewhere in windows 10. Once I connected to Internet and doing activation, it will fail as previously the windows activated with combination of hardware I'd + windows 8.1 pro key I still got one desktop with windows 8.1 pro since I assembly it, I think should have no problem to do clean install, as the motherboard don't have any oem key has been set in it. |
