I guess it should be pretty good cos its on the NEW DIGIC III chip. On top of that you have more options for add-ons cos it has a hot shoe to add to the list of other things like add-on lenses etc....

Wait for the reveiw on DPreview though.....

Well,

The problem facing this cam is that its priced so close to a DLSR and will face stiff competition.

Carrying all the stuff requires you to get a bigger camera bag thats all. But the external flash is already of DSLR proportions.....l

G7 is like baby punya baby punya Baby....

aiya...if u wanna compare P&S digicII and digicIII, of coz get digicIII
but if wanna compare wif dslr....eh..soli soli

anyway, seriously, G7 is ok
but the price is steep
very fast u will think - why i didnt get dslr

coz u will take great pics wif G7, but will feel inadequate after just taking normal great pics  wink.gif

True. Shopkeeper told me the same thing..... DIGIC II is more suitable for DSLRs than DIGIC III....

Agree with CompMac that the G7 is taking more steps back when compared with the G6 shakehead.gif

wAH. Dad got you the S3 eh? Lucky you. I wasn't really looking for a replacement for my IXUS until I realize the battery wasnt carrying charge well. Then looked at the S2IS and almost got it till I got wind about the coming arrival of the S3IS. That time G6 Was around but not in Msia. It did have a lot more manual things to play with.....

i've looking around for a digicam...
eyeing on 850is and G7.
900ti outta my list cause no IS.sob..

try out 3 of them yesterday at some shopping mall...
wana ask for some advice from u guys..

does it worth the extra bucks to go for a G7??

well, of course, i found tat G7 built quality, pic quality are much better than Ixus range. but it came in a slight bulky size. and of course good control over more features.

Ixus are known for most easy carry around with point n shoot with the small size.but kinda filmsy battery door, buttons and nothign much can play with except keep taking pic.

BTW, i'm too curious, how many pic it can take with a full charge of battery for both G7 & 850IS?

like what eye said, the G7 will be a more usefull device should you suddenly go up a notch or two in your photography skills. It has more expandible options compared to any IXUS Range cam which was made for its 'chic' factor.

Yesterday I got my first chance to glimpse the G7 in the flesh and its impressive having all the capabilities yet maintaining it all in a small retro look body. The material has hints of a real SLR cam and the colour is bold.

If you have the dough and dun intend to venture into a DSLR soon, then this is a pretty good buy and will remain pretty up to date with technology for a good time to come. However, Like I said before, it would have been better if it had retained some features from the G6.

Take a look as CANON Powershot S3 IS for another option for purchase. Unless of course you're chasing for the newer DIGIC III Chip.

Good luck picking.

After conversion its not that cheap.

Anyway, more importantly is if your G7 have problems, you'll have to go back to Singapore to get it repaired? rclxub.gif
