Actually, Coming to think of it, after seeing the real image, "my personal opinions"...

One should never attempt to make changes/modifications to any equipment
I believe that G7 have been design in a way to handle weather as such...
Putting an additional "glass filter" infront of the lens "may" defect the camera
such as " blocking moisture ventilation" as to simplfied this... let me say...

# A DSLR Lens is design to be able to attach a filter infront of the lens, Of such it is only "Screw ON" or "Snap ON" the lens... NOT "Glued"
# Even the Original Canon Adapter is "Screw ON" and not "Glued"

So recommendation would be that...
# Leave as default like from factory
# Buy a decent "Blower to blow" "3M Micro Cloth to clean" of the dust

Also coming to think of this "Lens Protector", if were to attach on...
# Attaching an Underwater Casing, would be a risk of Lens damaging by Touching/Forcing/Scratching the Underwater case while using Telephoto (Zoom) as the "total length" would be differ from orignal

man ... i was wondering do i need this? i guess i have to take it off perhaps?  doh.gif  icon_question.gif

As for me, I would take them off...

As for issue...
Dust : Get a decent Blower [Such as http://www.giottos.com/CL.htm (Selling at FotoShangrila SungaiWang for 39RM) or http://www.velocity-media.net/forums/index...showtopic=12992 ]
Scratches : G7 have a Built-In Lens Cover (When Not in Use) Just be careful (When In Use)

And trust me, the quality will be better as the G7 Lense will not have to go to additional layer of "Filter / Lens protector" and risking lowing image qualities...

Image Qualities, With or Without Filter - Case Studies:
A professional Filter have advance feature to merely make it invinsible to the camera itself (Just like you never attached the filter to the lens) so what can a "Semi-Branded" Filter can do to match up?

do you guys know where can i get a case for canon G7? i cannot find it ~ the shop i bought G7 didn't have it sad.gif

keeekeee,

Just trying to help out =)

Actually Canon G7 have a special case [reminiscent of an old rangefinder style] called "SC-DC50". However this product is ONLY sold at Australia (Marketing Purpose). As Malaysia, I seriously don't think Canon will be selling this here.
So If anyone plans to buy Online... Maybe we can Create a Bulk Order?
The Price is AUD$86.40 ~ 236.741 MYR

Order Link:

Or Simply get a "Lowepro" Casing http://www.lowepro.com/
You can buy/order any "camera shop" or via various "Malaysia Forum"
or you could go down to Singapore (The Land Of Cheap Lowepro)

Tips: It's best for you to fine a "Good" & "Decent" shop to make all your purchases.
A shop which you feel comfortable in, providing the best before/after sales services.
As being a regular customer to a shop, they will tend to treat you better and give
you a decent advice and better yet the Quote price you get are offen better discounted.
