Hi, driving a proton preve CFE for a couple years now.
Anyone got problem with their gear knob casing coming loose? Just the silver part i mean. Mine is effectively broken and hanging on

Every time i send to SC to fix, they just put double sided tape and put it back on which doesn't work. Anyone tried replacing their gear knob with the leather 1 from the Suprima S?

Yes. Claimed under warranty about 1+ years ago. Not sure what they did, whether they had used double-sided tape. The gear knob of the Preve Turbo is surely flimsy and feels plastic. Not sure when the silver piece will become loose again but I hope it stays put for a long time.

Haha did the same too with rubber band. I claimed before but came off after a while, so still the same. They just keep more double sided tape. sigh.
Looking around to switch the gearknob entirely.

Budget? Preference?

Currently using PS3, there are pros and cons. The tyres are silent and both wet and dry grips are excellent, but the wear and tear are bad. 20k km in and it's almost half of the thread already.

Next set I'll be changing to RE003, or RE004 if it's already out by then.

Wouldn't recommend PS3 if you're looking for long lasting set of tyres.
*
not yet set a budget, most probably around 300-400 per tyre. in Kuching, Sarawak btw, so prices might be more expensive here.

looking for something a bit better than stock ones.

How much km did your stock tyre lasts?
How's the performance and the noise of the new tyre?
*
not really used that often, but alot of wear and tear due to construction near my area for few months.
about 50k km now

new tyres feel less noisy and more grip, but then again could be just me biased to new tyres LOL.
will update after a few more days use.
oh but its really quite stable in the rain though.

What model and what kind of mod? I've been wanting to try HID after I saw one nicely done on Preve, unlike others I've seen that HID mod wasn't blinding and pleasant to the eyes.
*
proton preve cvt. i just switched out the bulbs with HID, no other modifications.
ask the accessory shop adjust the beam to aim more towards the road, instead of pointing straight up so not blinding.

I wonder though, do you all usually switch on the AC before you start the engine? Why? Isn't it common practice to switch on other systems after you start the engine?
*
I usually turn off aircond before off the car.
Turn on aircond after a few seconds after a cold start, or turn on immediately during normal time.

Habit already

Yes, if I remember correctly, the CFE version is using Iridium plugs, which cost 3 times more.  The other versions use ordinary plugs.  Hence the 60k km and 20k km interval difference respectively.
*
any recommendation for iridium plugs? my sc i usually go always no stock for spark plugs.
planning to buy myself and change

So far after more than three years, I have not had this issue, BUT I'm going to prepare for it. How did you shift the gear when the knob was taken out?
*
It's more like the plastic grey cap coming off. I had this issue few months into my preve. Just use some tape and pray it sticks.

Looking around for the Suprima S gearknob to switch it out

QUOTE(ahchat @ Jan 9 2017, 05:39 PM)
how to differentiate?

the one that I notice is, when I push the pedal down slow, it takes time for it to accelerate compared with when I pressed it down hard...

about the turbo, I don't know when will it kick in  hmm.gif

at what rpm? or at what speed?
*
QUOTE(davidletterboyz @ Jan 9 2017, 06:07 PM)
I myself has no idea because I've never driven a Preve. tongue.gif
But for throttle response, you can put N gear and press the throttle. If the engine RPM did not immediately response, that's the throttle lag. I'm driving Persona Elegance...the throttle lag is quite significant, around 0.5s-1.0s.
*
Throttle response lag happens in all proton car due to drive by wire throttle. Not the mechanical ones. So takes 0.5-1 sec to feel the car go after u step on the pedal.

Turbo usually u accelerate abt 2k o 2.5k u can hear the turbo spinning
