Hey folks,

Had my car for about 3 years+, after the 40k service, I found that when I drive more than 100km/h, my steering will vibrate (left-right vibrate), anyone know what could be the cause? Initially the Jalan Pahang Proton SC (btw, don't go there, service sucks like hell) told me that it is due to one of my swelling tyre, then after I changed the tyre, still same thing. Did balancing and alignment, still the same. Jalan Ipoh SC says Preve cannot do on-wheel (high speed) balancing because it will damage something (gearbox or drivetrain?), so the only option left is go to Proton HQ I guess.

Anyone experienced the same or know where to check before I go to HQ (which I heard service also sucks and slow)? CVT+ version by the way.

Thanks!

For tyre matters, I'd prefer to have them fixed at my regular tyre shop outside. Tyre shops are usually more well-equipped and knowledgeable than a sub-con tyre man stationed at the authorised service centres.

Steering wheel vibration would usually get fixed with a good balancing job.

Problem is I already did balancing outside, and even at Lim tayar, still the same. I have checked with some of them and they say they do not guarantee that redoing balancing will eliminate the high speed vibrating steering.

Some of the prevoc members recommend me to go to autopex shah alam to do on wheel balancing, I will probably go and have a look.

I heard that do on wheel balancing will damage our cvt gb, is it?

That's the thing, I also heard about that, but apparently many preve owners at Prevoc did it and they didn't seems to complain anything about it, so I am also 50/50 now.

Hey folks, so surprised to still see active discussion on Preve smile.gif

I am first batch owner of non-CFE Preve, have some questions to see if anyone has some idea/experience:

1. Sometimes after I turned off the car for 10-15 minutes, then ignite again, it feels like the ignition doesn't start properly, and the engine doesn't start properly, so I have to switch off and ignite again after waiting for a while. Any idea what could be the culprit? It's not the battery issue, I have already changed it and it still does the same sometimes.

2. The car sometimes feel like no power after stepping on the accelerator after full stop, especially when it is at the slope (for example queuing at the parking gate), anyone experience this? Any idea what causing it?

3. I have noticed sometimes 100km/h and more, the steering vibrates quite seriously - I remember back then some people say I should do a high speed alignment, but some say Preve cannot do it and will cause engine issue. Is there anyone has the same steering vibration issue at high speed, and is there any workshop that is really good at adjusting things like this in Klang Valley (KL or PJ)?

Thanks guys! Some of these I can ask the SC to fix it, but sometimes they might not know what's the proper part to look at/replace tongue.gif

for number 2, i think ECU issue.. i sent my car for service in april i guess and they helped me updated to latest ECU.. then i have same issue like you.. i need step further to make the car move from full stop condition..

number 3, try to check tyres condition and send to other tyre workshop and check balancing.. not alignment but balancing issue... if the tyres condition is not good and it might cause the vibration..

Ah yes, I meant balancing, not alignment, haha.. Yeah I did normal balancing here and there but still same situation. Same thing happened after I changed the tyre so I think normal balancing won't work well.

Oh, ECU - good point, may be I get them to update it in the next service. Thanks!

Non-CFE = Exec
Exec got 2 model from 2012. Exec Manual & Exec CVT.
Which one?

1. Maybe that problem came from purge valve canister.
2. No hill assist for preve model. So, cvt owner need to apply handbrake skill.
3. Spacer, rim, tyre, balancing

It’s the Exec CVT, forgot to mention.

1. Oh, ok, may be I get the SC to look at it.
2. Nah, it’s not that hill assist issue - I know how to do the handbrake skill. The issue happen sometimes even at flat surface, like the engine suddenly lost power and going to die off, and when you step on accelerator, only a few seconds it picks up and start to move. Not sure how best to explain haha.
3. Yeah, tried full balancing at Lim Tyre but still the same. Not a huge problem, but annoying and afraid can cause the tyre wear out faster at a specific side.

Oh OK, didn't know about this computerized CVT Clutch adaptation - found it somewhere, will give it a try, thanks!
