Hi guys

3 months ago i just changed absorber rear and front with bushes and mount.A pair of tire last year. And another pair last week. Done the assignment n balancing of course

Today drive the car with a passenger at front. And a passenger on rear left. The steering wheel pull to the left and shaking when over 100kmph.

When i drive alone and with front passenger the issuer not so obvious. Is this coz of uneven weight in the car? (2 passengers on left)? Is this normal or not?

Before the rest passenger came in, i drive over a big pothole though, not sure if this causes the misaligned and unbalanced wheel though. Really vulnerable until like that meh?

The shop at my hometown abit far.

My mechanic here suggest to do high speed balancing.

Is this okay with the Preve? Dont want it to mess up the cvt

on wheel balancing not recommended. suggest you try another shop and make sure they set the right rim size before running the balancing machine, wrong rim diameter or width will impact the calculation for weight placement

QUOTE(ChuanHong @ Sep 15 2020, 09:31 AM)
same as other forumer mentioned above.. not recommend to do on wheel balancing.. just need to get an experienced worker to help on fixing it.. i have found few in penang which can adjust my preve balancing and alignment nice nice.. if feel not ok, go back the shop next day or next few days.. they fix it again for FOC..

dont change whatever camber etc... once changed u are gone.. okay.. btw my preve alignment never go to 0 based on machine.. definitely will off based on orginal setting.. if u do alignment and balancing in proton SC (provided you do not have bodykit or skirting), they will never ask u to change camber.. LOL..

some other shop alignment machine software might be out to date.. balancing stuffs may fall off just 1 day.. just try to figure out at nearby tyre shop with good review lo..
*
Done the normal balancing and alignment.

But still got minor vibration on steering wheel. When i let go my hand, still going left

They said my steering rack problematic.

Beside changing the steering rack, should i try changing the rack bush, under tie rod, and the tour road end

Got rattle sound when i turn right at low speed too

Btw for cfe there is exhaust becos the exhaust gas is use to drive the turbo

I suggest just check the condition first don't buy first.

Have you checked the spark plug? Fuel filter? Air filter?

Will do, currently on the repair/replace list:
4 broken absorbers
4 tires
gearbox
and the steering issue...
Probably costs 1/3 of the car's 2nd hand value, really not worth spending anymore on this car...
*
Better buy all suspension parts at one go and replace all at one go

Dont be like me, only replaced absorber, mount and bush and absorber link.

But didnt replace lower arm, rack end and tie rod end, spring, spring rubber, steering bush, sway bar bush

End up noise here and there, steerimg become loose, swaying left right on high speed etc etc

Have to spend more for workmanship because replace at diff time.

Stupid me

Thats only front. Not yet rear.

Which side of engine mounting that is more prone to wear? Is it the front one? Or rear? Or both?

original mounting should be sufficient.. price is not that expensive.. wear and tears part.. normally i just hv to change engine mounting (1pcs) only.. total mounting i believe there are 4.. but normally they changed 1 for me.. rm150 and below... no more shaking during idle.. i could detect even very subtle/minor vibration.. most likely every 60k we could change once.. but some people cant even notice that vibration at early stage.. 60k mileage about 3 years.. if less driving, maybe 5 years change once? i think its okay
*
Found your post after searching. Which one did you change bro usually? Rear, front?

CVT mounting.. i searched back my service history..description is BRKT ASSY, TM MTG CVT; T/M MOUNTING REPLACEMENT

basically let proton technician test drive and check for you.. mine one last year have 1 recalled part for CVT damper if not mistaken.. so after they took off the things and reinstall back, i felt the vibration.. so i decided to change CVT mounting..

just around RM150 things.. to me it is okay to change rather than have little vibration..
*
Thanks bro. Is rm150 include labour cost?

My case is a little diffetent. I already change almost all suspension parts, even the brake caliper pin but still have noises on uneven road (kruk krak) on left side, not lower arm for sure coz already changed and kok sound after bump somewhere is centre. And banging sound when i stopping the car. But the vibration also got but not much.

Last year i changed the engine mounting TCA brand, abit regret it, the left n right mount still in good condition. Only the black colour mount worn out a bit. This time will change one mount only first.

Few months back i drove over a very huge pothole, after that all these nonsense and weird noises came out which still cant be solved yet

your casing is not mounting issue ba.. mounting is for vibration during idle mode.. is there any items inside drawer? in my car, i have a place a rubber mat in all drawer or location that i will put an items.. so it will not cause the noise that item hitting the rubber case. if drove over pothole, try to look at your absorber, wheel bearing, and tyres..
*
Thabks for your reply

I dis remove all items inside drawer and test drive, nope the sound was not from the drawer, it was from the wheel. I changed all things already except for wheel bearing. Looks like i have to spend again haih looks like neverending

I'm puzzled with this weird krok krok near my left front tyres.

Krok krok on uneven road, not lower arm for sure

I've changed almost all suspension parts. Last part was brake caliper pin

What is this mystery sound?

Brakepad loose? Or Is it coming from inside like glovebox rattles? I can't tell and I'm confused

Even my mechanic cannot figure out.

hi bro, can you list down all the small stuff u replaced at SC?

just to give a recommendation here if some of you guys feeling lost with your preve problem especially after warranty period, please be brave and try other bengkel other than SC especially the famous proton specialist bengkel which might try to reduce your repair cost by repairing certain item rather than replacing the whole assembly.

i bought my preve from used car on 2016, my car was manufactured on end 2014 and otr early 2015. since I got it from the used car dealer at 22k km mileage I never ever once park my car at SC for service or repairing. this is bcos my previous car ownership experience owning a saga flx for 4 years i just sent my car to my favourite proton specialist instead of SC... every part replacement or repairing are cheaper than sc u can choose oem parts or ori parts depends on your budget..

they will have time to check on the issue instead of just trying to replace this first and then see how later..normal sc style..

mind you the cost of maintaining car at the SC is expensive and its not limited to proton only..toyota honda sc and perodua sc also after warranty period ends it became more costly to maintained your car especially those wear and tear items...

the reason i wrote this is just to give some of you guys my fella preve frens more choice instead of relying on SC.

here i list those "bawah pokok" bengkel which mostly is proton specialist that can work on your car:
1. Tunerz Revolutions (recommended for all minor and major parts replacement)
2. Zordaq Motorsports
3. Gearboss Performance
4. EA Autoworks ( this one more to upgrade lol)
5. G car care ( a bit expensive)

You can search those bengkel feedback and review on google and Facebook page also some Facebook Group like
CFE & CVT Technical Discussion.
*
Haha listen to this guy ya. I had suspension noise issues unsolved for months and i went to one of his recommended bengkel and everything solved

Thinking to sell my 2012 preve cfe.

Does current  civic 1.8 will make me feel underpowered? Or is it a tad better in performance?
*
Of course better. Civic is lighter than Preve, and more bigger engine capacity

Thanks. But the torque for civic 1.8 is much lower compare to preve cfe. How?

Yes, my mistake. On paper the CFE is faster. Can reach peak torque 205Nm only at 2krpm vs 4.3k rpm 174Nm at 4.3k
