my preve headlamp burned again.. 3 halogen bulbs and 2 HID bulbs in nearly 3 years time

Did you use 55W HID? So far into it face any burnt bulb using 35W HID.

hi everyone,

does headlight lamp fall under manufacturer warranty? both of my headlamp is bunt out. BTW my car age is 2+ years?

thanks

If there is defect on the headlamp, yes, but you're talking about burnt out bulb, then it's not covered since it is considered a wear and tear part. However, if you change to a new bulb from Proton SC, you'll get 6 months warranty.

some people told me have to change a pair instead of 1 by 1.. so this time i change a pair of bulb.. i did use HID as well.. burned also.. mostly HID will have problem with ballast instead of bulb itself.. haha

probably need to do with LED?! since halogen and hid is quite sensitive with moisture.. sometime when we install the bulb, might accidentally touch some thing on the glass surface.. LED should be dont have this issue..
*
It's coherently a design flaw in the electrical or wiring system, when I installed the bulbs I always wore gloves.

My mechanic told me that the H7 bulb that Preve uses is generally unreliable and has this issue generally across all brands. Not sure how far this is true.
*
Can't say definitively, but yes, Philips, Osram, Bosch, and one Germany-made bulbs (forgot the brand), I've tried all of these and they still ended up burnt.

That was when I thought maybe the power output was the problem (55W). Seeing as there was no(?) lower wattage halogen bulb suitable, that's why I opted for 35W HID. I retrofitted my headlamp with 3" xenon projectors for maximum and proper HID lighting, and so far so good.

Thinking of changing to HID projector. The light output from stock projector is nowhere as good as Axia's projector.

No regret, so far I've gone through two police roadblocks at night. Well, actually it's under JPJ jurisdiction tongue.gif

for Preve, schedule to change at 120k KM base on the service booklet, but SC advise to change at 100k KM

My SC even recommended to change at 60k lol.

Screw it, I'll change at 100k.

Brake Pad Front [DTEC] - RM160 Ceramic
or
Brake Pad Front - RM120 Normal
Brake Rotor Front - RM230
or
Brake Rotor Front [XPS] - RM550 Performance rotor
Assuming you opted for Ceramic brake pad + Front rotor = RM160 + RM230 = RM390

If you opted for normal brake pad, it will be RM120 + RM230 = RM350
*
Ah ok, will enquire from him more.

I haven't taken close look at the brake discs since purchasing the car years ago, but judging from part numbers, it seems like the front rotor is different from the rear rotor.

Time bomb - Oil Cooler Hose. Over 8 years, starting from Exora Bold, solution by proton, change och every 40,000km. But minor case, 1 month then hose burst again.
Just because of rm16 hose, if it burst, 90% you got major problem.

Still another issues, turbocharger, oil feed pipe turbocharger, mounting, fusebox, FC.

My suggestion, if you want really feel tiptronic/ pedal shifter / changing gear by hand, try Preve cfe & suprima s. Other than that, nothing.
*
Recommended to change to third party steel hose, cost is less than RM 100 IIANM.

You sure or not?

Semi synthetic oil technically can be used up to 10k or 6 months, but general industry practice is until 5k or 3 months only.

Before you decide to proceed to use Syn800 until 10k, please remember that there is warranty issue should anything happen after 5k.

Depends on SC. Like I said, the 5k is recommended but some SC would prefer to play it safe. For you to be on the safe side as well, why not just service to their 'requirement'.

The way I see it, you either pay everything twice (including the Syn800) for two 3 months service, or you can choose to use Syn1000/3000/5000/7000 and only do thr service once every 6 months.

I would (and have always been) using fully synthetic oil for 10k/6 months, you get better quality engine oil as well.

The choice is yours, there's no correct practice to choose.

Hi, my current tyre size on my car now is fitted with 205/55R16. The picture here says that I can fit 215/45R17 on my current rim? Or do I need to change 17 inch rim in order to fit the 215/45R17?

Car Model: Proton Preve 1.6 Premium CVT

My H7 head lamp is always failure after about 13 or 14 months.

May I know whether you all are having the same problem or not.

My previous waja head lamp is quite average about 2.5 years time.

Some say fuse problem, some say wiring.

I retrofitted my headlights with HID projectors and 35W HID bulbs, seem to get rid of the problem, more than a year already.
