Hi guys, another Preve 2016 MT here. Got it last week. Enjoying every bit of the car  icon_rolleyes.gif

2. There's an annoying low squeaking noise from the gear console when moving to the left side (1st and 2nd gear), did you guys encounter this ?

Regards
*
Happens even in CFE variant. I suspect it's not the gearbox, but more to mounting or fitting problem.

So far after more than three years, I have not had this issue, BUT I'm going to prepare for it. How did you shift the gear when the knob was taken out?

Everything is under warranty as long as the warranty period is still valid.

Guys wanted to confirm 3 things with you.
1. I saw somewhere im the forum that changing with outside battery wont void warranty, confirm on this?
2. If battery replacement done outside, any special configuration need to be done on ca and also any specific brand that can be recommended?
3. Im currently at 40k and the major service cost 400+ for semi synthetic and the receptionist says at 60k will need to change cvt oil(non turbo model here). Is this a must and she mentioned the service will rack up rm1010 as the cvt oil including gasket and filet will cost 600+
*
1&2
Battery is considered as a consumable item with wear and tear, just like tyres and light bulbs. No issue on warranty. Any reputable brand will do.

3
60k is the major service milestone. Recommended to do, otherwise you may risk your warranty.

Wow.. really want to change? Installing another turbocharger may bypass some sensor to ecu. By using OEM ecu + bypass sensor give your ecu make wrong decision, so all system not synchronize. Need to use piggyback.. also, try to make more boost to create high torque, our CVT gearbox will damage earlier.

But someone gave offer to me
- Install 2ndhand turbocharger, trade in kp39
- tuning, adjusting, clear fault code, use OEM ecu
- confirming 170km/h at 3000rpm
- All work in front of you
Just rm1000
*
Seems like a high risk for RM1000

anyone know where can get good car cover? to cover from rain, sunlight since my house does not have a garage
*
Generic one from Tesco or Giant will do. Find one with the size for Accord or Camry. I tried Civic one (same segment) but the cover was torn one day.

Means it's 16 inch? Idk what to tell the foreman 😅 continental CC6 looks good

Go for Dunlop D05 or Kumho Ecsta PS1, excellent tyres and my personal opinion is they are on par with PS3 and RE003.

just to share out with you guys, on preve that i took to svc center to solve rattling issue. warning : long karangan

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

TLDR:
1. proton glenmarie should be avoided at all cost if next three (3) weeks have festival holiday (Haj holiday included)
2. rattling sound in the preve not caused by dashboard loose as 3rd party svc center claimed.
3. 3rd party svc centre should be avoided if possible.
4. changing gearbox mounting + engine mouting solved the rattling issue.
even though its old and not new compared to ss13/glenmarie,

i personally recommend Proton Edar Seremban svc center
*
Basically the same lesson, don't judge a service center by its appearance. Big centers like Glenmarie has to deal with hundreds if not thousands of cars monthly, drop in service quality is to be expected.

I don't trust outside workshops either, most of them will try to make money as much as they can.

Hi All, I'm  planning to buy Preve CFE 2014 or new, I assume some car having 5 year warranty and the question is whether the warranty of the car from 1st owner can be transfer to 2nd owner? Need to register with Proton after getting the Proton Preve from dealer?
*
If the owner honored the warranty program (no outrageous modification, serviced at authorized centers and according to the correct mileage), then the warranty continues.

Wow.luckily I made the right choice not to get Preve and avoid Proton at all cost . Semi for 4k and 8k for fully ..the normal service cost definitely more expensive than Toyota and Honda
*
Err I don't have any problem servicing at more than that, mechanical and warranty wise.

is the proton preve brakepad that good to cost more than rm400?
*
IIANM the manufacturer is Bosch.

Still, very expensive compared to aftermarket. I changed to RSS (along with the brake discs) and I don't feel any difference (I mean it as a good thing).

I have access to both cars on regular basis smile.gif

Feel free to have different opinion though biggrin.gif

*
Driving experience. Put it this way, Inspira is 'raw', Preve is composed.

At traffic light, with Inspira you can just get ahead most cars, but in Preve, it's fun to see other cars go ahead of you, only for you to overtake them once the turbo has spooled in biggrin.gif

we're talking about preve turbo, not ertiga... it's just like telling me that even honda hrv gives better mileage than preve turbo.  bangwall.gif

It's expensive, and by expensive I don't mean 1-10 million Ringgit kind of expensive. Business wise it makes much more sense to roll out with new models, and this is not what only Proton would do.

It appears that the servicing cost may not be standard for all Proton service centres. In Klang Valley, the cost for the 60,000 km service for the Preve Turbo is RM1.4k+.

For maintenance cost, it can be broken down to two categories. First is the monthly servicing and second is the replacement of faulty/worn out parts. The 60,000 km service can be considered as the monthly servicing and may be on the high side. But don't worry to much as the next 70,000 km service for the Proton Preve Turbo will be low. I just recently sent the car for the 70,000 km service and it costs below RM200. To be exact, it's RM194.
*
The cost is standard throughout the authorized SCs, it's just that one SC may suggest and promote additional service on top of the endorsed ones by Proton HQ. Furthermore, those differences might be contributed by services done before and after GST implementation.

quick question.

reverse cam at car accesories shop.

does tapping using tap device (cut the sheath but not wire) to reverse light wire void warranty?

any other way to install without loosing warranty if tapping is not acceptable?
*
Definitely.

But why would you do that? The HU is reverse cam ready.

i'm looking for a better-looking button (push on push off if possible) to manually control the reverse cam, since i didn't tap into reverse light.

the rounded rocker switch that workshop wanted to install would have scored very low on esthetical value.

i want to ask ....

that small round-edge rectangle next to card holder.

what is it for? can it fit a push button?

That was meant for headlight level controller, which never made it to production stage.
