Actually, I wasn't expecting much. As a matter of fact, the CVT of the Preve Turbo got a lot of criticism from me more than 2 years ago when it exhibited a lot of issues. I have toned down my complaints here as I understand there are many Preve owners here who own this car.

Some of the issues which I encountered are as shown in the photos below.





There was another case whereby the silver plastic piece came out from the gear knob and I had to use a rubber band to tie the plastic piece to the gear knob for about 2 weeks before I managed to get the car to the service centre to fix the thing back. I have lost the photo showing the rubber band that was used to secure the loose plastic piece though so I could not show it here. Overall it wasn't a good experience and that just shows the quality of the gear knob.

In terms of operation, the CVT of my Preve Turbo was also stiff when shifting through the gears when I got the car. Initially I thought if it was normal. During service the advisor informed the gear assembly was faulty and they replaced a new one for me. The gear knob now shifts better though the feeling when the stick shifts through the gears still feels tacky and cheap when compared to the smoother and more refined shifting of other Japanese or continental cars.

I always console myself that this car is less than RM70k so for the price, one cannot complain much. If one wants a better quality car then one would have to pay more, close to RM100k or above.

when the car was around 35K km mileage, some rattling sound came from dashboard, specifically radio area. the rattling can only be triggered at specific weather condition, in my case, cold morning.

then as it goes up mileage (45k km), the rattling becoming more and more obvious and no weather condition needed to trigger it.

sent the car to 3rd party svc center, was said that this is problem with dashboard, like iriz, and here cannot do cuz dismantling dashboard took alot of effort..sked to do...yada2. two (2) 3rd party svc centre said the same thing.

then my buddy advised me to go to proton glenmarie, he had experience where his proton car (was Gen 2) problem got solved which no 3rd party svc center can rectified it.

then i go to glenmarie, SA told that this is mouting issue, not dashboard cuz preve dashboard are one tough cookie made/to crack, compared to iriz. so i book an appointment. on the of appointment, sent the car in (at 8:00am sharp) and i went to sunway pyramid as the SA told that i could take up to 1 day. around 4:30pm i went back, my car still didnt went into working bay yet and the svc center is closing. the SA apologized to me many times for wasting my time, and offered another appointment.

due to that, i decided to went south, book an appointment at proton seremban. on appointment day, decided to do periodical service and asked them to check for the rattling sound. SA concluded that it is not dashboard issue, rather engine mounting issue. so they changed it on the next appointment. the rattling sound GREATLY reduced, but some still there. not satisfied with it, went back to proton seremban for further diagnostic.

on 2nd visit, SA that handled the case previously too felt weird about it. and offered to change engine mounting and gearbox mounting, as SA discovered the noise originated from radio and gearbox area as well.took some time for the parts to come, and finally changed gearbox and engine mounting last two (2) weeks.

as of now, the preve has no more rattling. peaceful cabin sound as i remembered during the early time. been driving it for two weeks, at all weather condition, confirmed it.
