QUOTE(rachel_xxx @ Jul 28 2016, 08:54 PM) did you guys changed the spark plug and air filter at 20k/12 mth service? can wait till 30k/36 mths service? It is supposed to be changed at 60k. Some unscrupulous SC 'recommended' to change it at 20k (same as power steering wheel etc) and would try to intimidate you about technical issue if you don't want to. That's just bullshit, just follow the service schedule in the booklet.

QUOTE(pikacu @ Aug 7 2016, 09:11 PM) le fu then wut is the bestest engine oil at potong sc? Looking from their perspective as manufacturer, I can relate to their concerns. Depends on your budget. If you always want the best, then Syntium 7000 0W/40. It can do well with even Syntium 1000. I don't see any problem as I've tried from 800, 1000, 3000, 5000 and 7000, the only noticeable difference I felt was from 1000 to 7000. Some SCs sell Shell engine oil as well, it's better if you call them to ask availability first.

QUOTE(wooz2002 @ Aug 10 2016, 09:08 PM) When u install the Sansui n the China units do they work with the steering controls? Do u need to buy any extra sockets or connectors? Appreciate ur input, might change the HU to one that can run apps. If u r looking for quad core android HU they're selling on Aliexpress http://s.aliexpress.com/vEfYNvIJI'm hesitant to get an aftermarket HU. First, I'm not sure it will support the steering wheel functions. Secondly, the GPS reliability, and an extension to that, can I use the current GPS module or do I need the GPS module specific to the HU. Thirdly, monetary factor; China brands are too cheap, Europe/USA brands are too expensive and usually with limited functionality as China very basic model; you want more functions, you pay more.

QUOTE(wooz2002 @ Aug 11 2016, 11:19 PM) Haven't bought anything this big or expensive from Aliexpress. Bought two car accessories items sent via small packet n both arrive safely n without custom charges. This quad core players r cheap compared to the ones sold here. But buying from Aliexpress u may have to wait long, forget about warranty n the possibility of not receiving the item. That said, I'm planning to buy a reverse cam from them only RM28. Try Gearbest. Their warranty and aftersale service is commendable, because unlike Aliexpress or Ebay, they sell the items on the site themselves and take responsibility of the warranty even for established brands. Kind of like Senheng and Harvey Norman

QUOTE(plumberly @ Aug 12 2016, 08:21 AM) While I have not bought an HU, my wife and I have each bought something from Japan, USA etc. Custom rule is import tax (10 or 20%) if the value is >RM200 (if my memory is right). Then plus 6% GST! I just bought some RAM modules from HK, delivery is pretty fast and no import tax due to the small value. The duty rate is dependent on the tariff code of the item. RAM modules have no duty (0%), and Customs usually will impose GST on item worth more than RM500. Some times, they just close one eye. I once bought a model kit worth more than 1k but they just let the item go without GST.

QUOTE(stasio @ Aug 13 2016, 09:03 AM) I think Proton make big mistake (not only this!) not to facelift Preve. Waiting for new engine will take long time and already will be outdated..... Edit: Except new model of HU, which else components they upgrade on Preve year 2012 ... VT3+ like in Suprima.

QUOTE(allenultra @ Aug 16 2016, 05:40 PM) Most shops selling the CVT oil near to RM40/litre, some even above RM40/litre which is the retail price charged by all Proton SC. The CVT filter and gasket shall cost you another RM300 or a bit more. Labour another RM25 to RM30 You will hardly get much cheaper for CVT oil package in the market, as the margin is low. I think RM300 is high for a CVT filter, I asked Proton and it's only RM22x something inclusive GST.

Sure koyak I think my warranty will due before I reach 120k. Do you think it's better to do at Proton SC or outside for major service after the warranty is gone?

QUOTE(HeReLiSm @ Aug 22 2016, 08:12 PM) How much is service for 120,000km estimated? Btw, my car turns 3 year old in October and will be around 90,000 km in milage. I'm still servicing at SC so far and my car hasn't really gave much headache to me since I bought it. So i'm wondering whether I'm going to need to continue servicing at SC, or opt out. As I know, major parts of the engine only covers up to three years of warranty, and others up to five years. Since the warranty finished, I'd think better to save some money and service outside, huh? It's the other way around IIANM, engine and gearbox related problems are covered until five years as what an SC told me.

May I ask details as follow: Size of tyre Normal range of tyres brand Price Please share. Thanks Stock size is 205/55/R16. Better go to tyre thread for prices. The to-go tyres are Michelin PS3 and Bridgestone RE003, price from RM300 to RM400, depending on shops and locations. Can also go for Dunlop D05 which is cheaper.

QUOTE(joe_kopitiam @ Sep 2 2016, 11:32 AM) if you're thinking of getting of getting the non-turbo Preve, i'd advise you to go for the new Persona instead bro. vanilla Preve just don't have enough torque for the car (it's heavy!) especially when going uphill. Don't think it would make any difference, since Persona is only around 100kg lighter than Preve IIRC. But for other features, it is wise to buy Persona unless you require bigger cabin and boot space. Definitely, if a buyer has the budget, always go for Preve CFE.

QUOTE(winners8 @ Sep 3 2016, 07:50 PM) I'm not taking the risk of fouling the turbocharger's intake manifold, which will cost much more to repair or even to replace. Imagine if it will suddenly seize while driving. If they will void my warranty, I'm going to ask them to prove to me how the oil catch tank will affect the engine's operation and to what extent that the warranty will be void? The oil catch tank is just a diversion of the blow-by gas into a safe reservoir before returning back to the turbocharger's intake manifold again, so how to justify on revoking the engine warranty? Theoretically, it's supposed to "suck" the air from the air-filter manifold, but in practice, this is always never the case for all engines because the buildup pressure inside the engine top is too high and so the air-flow will get reversed (forced out) instead. Besides, that area is supposed to be very clean since it is after the air-filter's passage. It's not like adding an additional accessory to boost the engine's power.beyond its specified capability. I'm mechanically trained myself and I know what will and will not affect the components of the engine. In fact, PROTON should have improvised this oil catch tank into its original design and especially so since it incorporates a turbine, which is operating at high rotating speed and temperature. If not for their cost saving benefit, I don't know for what other better reasons on why they have omitted? If they will still insist on voiding the warranty, they had better be prepare to lose 1 loyal PROTON customer for the last 6 years. This is my second new PROTON vehicle. Furthermore, I'll dissuade others (friends and relatives) to ever buy PROTON again because they are being unreasonable in their after-sales service commitment. I don't think it's just Proton. This applies to almost any car manufacturer on earth. You did something to their intended works or mechanisms, you voided the warranty. It doesn't matter whether the system is good or bad, even if you bring this to court.

QUOTE(joe_kopitiam @ Sep 5 2016, 10:23 AM) yeah i'm kinda wondering about this too. i've already accepted that some parts in the car will vibrate but the listening to the rear view mirror in the morning is really annoying.. Trial and error. There's a few positions where the mirror doesn't vibrate, you just need to find it. For permanent fixed, I don't think you could do much.
