Hey guys I've been looking at the Surface Pro for sometime and thinking of buying it to replace my ipad and notebook let me know if I have the wrong idea or not...

I like my ipad because it is small, easy to charge and can play games/read/watch youtube on the bed before sleeping. But i'm beginning to hate mobile games because there are no good games all are quite similar but with different themes, and the irritating "mining" process all mobile games require me to do if i dowan to mind then use CC to buy credits to buy stuff. And the added annoyance of needing to be always online to play.

I like some good single player games and some retro games....like RTS type, Diablo type, Football manager type.

I mostly use my personal notebook nowadays as a music player, to watch video (plug to 40" TV) not much of a heavy gamer on pc, if got a game like Football Manager or FIFA probably can last me 1 year already.

So you think Surface is for me?

Personally I don't use SP3 for gaming. I tried installing FM2015 on it and the fan starts to kick in after a short time (I am playing it in a non air-cond room). After few trials, I finally gave up and not playing it anymore.
Besides the heat issue, playing FM on the small screen doesn't really as that enjoyable as well in my opinion.
But this might be just me, different person different preference.
Just for your reference, cheers.  nod.gif

if it can't play FM then no point to buy doh.gif

cause that's the number one reason to get it.
by the way would getting higher spec be better instead for FM?

other usages can be settled with a decent spec android tablet.

I think FM should be playable especially older editions. It has been a while since I last played any FM but based on the response it is actually playable.

But the experience might not be the same due to screen size. Plus the heat, you might want to monitor that. If gaming is the main reason you are looking for Surface, you might want to reconsider your purchase.

And I think FIFA is out of question already.
Yes, i3 fans doesn't kick in quite as often simply because it is a lower performance thus generating less heat.
I don't faced any crash with my Edge so far...

As far as I can recall, FM also has 3D graphics nowadays... that's what makes me not so sure...

and also, you mentioned "football simulator" which means it's CPU intensive. pretty sure even i3 can execute the calculations without no problems but will the cooling be adequate is another story.

combined both CPU and GPU task? well, you should know what kind of heat we could be dealing with...
