already stated in their RMA terms that they will replace your surface with a refurbished unit

mine was a minor 'defect' the kick stand texture was slightly rougher than the magnesium body. now that i got an external case for it, it didn't matter anymore

They should offer that. Since the next surface pro is around the corner and Pro 4 isn't that new anymore, I think they should offer to you such option.

That's pretty normal for MS to replace a faulty machine with a refurbished unit due to the fact that the Surface machines are almost impossible to repair - so when you send back for warranty they will likely to give you a refurbished set as a replacement

My Surface Pro 5 had battery warped issue about 3 months ago and it was out of warranty. MS Support was very quick to send me a refurbished unit without any charge. About 6 months ago, my wife's Surface Pro 4 had similar issue and MS Support, to our surprise, also gave a refurbished unit free-of-charge. I guessed this is a very common issue with the Surface Pro.

A few years back, my Surface Pro 3 had problems detecting the type cover and for some reason, the type keyboard hardware driver disappeared. I was advised by MS Support to re-image the Surface and eventually, it solved the problem.

Nevetheless, despite all the issues, I am still a keen supporter of the Surface products because MS Support so far had been good to me.

The same for my flickergate (SP4) as well despite the lapse in warranty. The entire process is less than a week for me to get a replacement device -- all i did was to inform them of the issue and they just handled it after acknowledging the issue. Such an experience is why I would continue to stick with the Surface line.

Dear surface user, looking for an advice, is it worth to send out of warranty surface to Microsoft for replacement?
my SP4 keep restart and stuck at uefi loop, trying to reset using USB but nothing change.

SP4 out of warranty replacement cost is about RM2500. I think is better to get a second hand SP7 or buy a new one with top-up.

ya2. almost rm2.5k. scroll down thru 2nd hand sp. around rm2.5k only find sp5 with 4gb ram.
i guess need to topup a lil bit la.

They will send the same spec, but I believe no more SP4. You will either get SP5 or SP6, same RAM and storage size.

Only if they replace with the sp5 with the same spec, i bet quite worth the penny u pay. 2nd hand value for sp5 also more than rm2.5k.

Jeez, I just contacted microsoft and they have no options for me to replace my sp and sp3. LOL

the devices are too old and they ask me to ask microsoft store for discounts/trade-ins
