Microsoft had replaced my surface pro 3 twice yet I am not satisfied with the replacement device.
The first one have a noticeable yellow tint on the left side of the screen. The second device also have yellow tint effect but less noticeable however it is totally obvious this replacement is a used product cause it got dirty mark and got some serial number (engrave) hidden behind the kick stand. This serial number doesnt exist on the previous device. pffftttt Already asked for the third replacement. Awaiting feedback. Demn! |

QUOTE(Mubarak90 @ May 22 2017, 04:06 PM) i dont think they will. though mine is the i7 256gb and i am willing to topup a bit if they did offered. QUOTE(Rusty Nail @ May 22 2017, 04:19 PM) already stated in their RMA terms that they will replace your surface with a refurbished unit yup. i am pretty much aware about that.mine was a minor 'defect' the kick stand texture was slightly rougher than the magnesium body. now that i got an external case for it, it didn't matter anymore i am hoping that they at least give a decent one like the first replacement. no mark what so ever. looks new however the yellow tint screen is pretty much obvious and i cant stand it. QUOTE(Mubarak90 @ May 22 2017, 04:06 PM) You were right! After the 3rd replacement (which i cant accept the refurbish unit due to yellowish screen) microsoft decided to replace it with a new set. After a month of waiting game, I finally received the new surface. What surprised me is that they gave me Surface Pro 4; and a higher version than my Surface Pro 3. They even gave me new keybord. Literally I am crying. |

QUOTE(evofantasy @ Jul 20 2017, 05:35 PM) Yes. All within warranty period. My warranty end end of april 2017. My report was before that. I'm surfaceless for 3 months. It took them 1 month to get approval from Microsoft USA to replace it with a new unit. Microsoft Malaysia can only give refurbish unit. I told them I am ok with refurbish unit as long as the unit is as good as new but I cant accept it that even after the 3rd replacement all have same issue; yellow tint screen. Then they decide to ask microsoft USA can get new unit or not. 1 month no news at all suddenly today I received package from them. |

QUOTE(chocobo7779 @ Nov 2 2019, 05:24 PM) That's pretty normal for MS to replace a faulty machine with a refurbished unit due to the fact that the Surface machines are almost impossible to repair - so when you send back for warranty they will likely to give you a refurbished set as a replacement Aaahh yes. Pretty normal. But if u check my earliest earliest post in this thread, m$ replace my pro 3 with a new set of pro 4, higher spec than my pro 3. Sadly after almost a year my pro 4 have problem too. And they replace with a refurbish set. Hence my question, thus pro 5 hv major issues? My experience make me hv reservation to buy pro 5 due to bad quality of pro 3 and 4. Ps: my pro 3 hv issue with timing. Once u turn off the clock will stop counting too. |

QUOTE(horray @ Nov 4 2019, 01:24 PM) My Surface Pro 5 had battery warped issue about 3 months ago and it was out of warranty. MS Support was very quick to send me a refurbished unit without any charge. About 6 months ago, my wife's Surface Pro 4 had similar issue and MS Support, to our surprise, also gave a refurbished unit free-of-charge. I guessed this is a very common issue with the Surface Pro. Wow.A few years back, my Surface Pro 3 had problems detecting the type cover and for some reason, the type keyboard hardware driver disappeared. I was advised by MS Support to re-image the Surface and eventually, it solved the problem. Nevetheless, despite all the issues, I am still a keen supporter of the Surface products because MS Support so far had been good to me. Out of warranty microsoft still offered u a refurbished unit? That is awesome. How do u make report to microsoft and negotiate till they agreed to replace it? This is for battery warped issue? Also can u share with me how to re-image the surface? I know 2 person who hv this problem. Keyboard hardware driver disappeared. Hv google yet to found solutions to fix it. |

QUOTE(evofantasy @ Nov 15 2019, 11:10 AM) The same for my flickergate (SP4) as well despite the lapse in warranty. The entire process is less than a week for me to get a replacement device -- all i did was to inform them of the issue and they just handled it after acknowledging the issue. Such an experience is why I would continue to stick with the Surface line. I wonder if i can claim another replacement due to my screen suddenly got light bleed which is very visible when the screen is blank. |

QUOTE(dakulala @ Aug 10 2021, 12:50 PM) Dear surface user, looking for an advice, is it worth to send out of warranty surface to Microsoft for replacement? my SP4 keep restart and stuck at uefi loop, trying to reset using USB but nothing change. QUOTE(Foo Mun @ Aug 10 2021, 01:56 PM) SP4 out of warranty replacement cost is about RM2500. I think is better to get a second hand SP7 or buy a new one with top-up. QUOTE(dakulala @ Aug 10 2021, 02:42 PM) ya2. almost rm2.5k. scroll down thru 2nd hand sp. around rm2.5k only find sp5 with 4gb ram. i guess need to topup a lil bit la. btw, did Microsoft sending a same spec unit for replacement? QUOTE(Foo Mun @ Aug 10 2021, 03:10 PM) They will send the same spec, but I believe no more SP4. You will either get SP5 or SP6, same RAM and storage size. I asked them last month. They will give u refurbished SP5 same spec. Now ive got one SP4 laying around cannot use keybord and got flick gate issues. Lol. I bought SP7 instead. Still thinking should i just get it replaced or not bcos my sp4 is i7 256gb 16ram. Not sure worth the 2.5k tak. My SP7 pun i5 jer. QUOTE(dakulala @ Aug 15 2021, 10:04 PM) Only if they replace with the sp5 with the same spec, i bet quite worth the penny u pay. 2nd hand value for sp5 also more than rm2.5k. So i decided to pay RM2500 to microsoft and get my pro 4 i7 16gb ram 256gb ssd replaced. Cincai kira. Untung la sikit. 😆😆😆 Just received refurbished unit from microsoft. Looks good. Looks new. They replaced it with Pro 5 i7 16gb ram AND 512GB SSD! Wuhooooo!!!! |

Anyone update ur surface to windows 11?
I tried both for my surface pro 5 and 7. 7 through windows update. 5 through iso. No need to reformat just need to modify registry a bit. So far so good. Especially pro 5 since microsoft said it is an unsupported device since it use intel 7th gen. Can update windows 11 through windows update as usual. So i guess what microsoft meant back then is if windows 11 f up ur surface, microsoft wont do anything to fix unsupported device. |

QUOTE(billy_overheat @ Oct 25 2021, 10:23 AM) Jeez, I just contacted microsoft and they have no options for me to replace my sp and sp3. LOL Seems they only accept sp4 and above. the devices are too old and they ask me to ask microsoft store for discounts/trade-ins Saw the list somewhere and i believe sp4 will be excluded too in the future. |
