if i remember correctly, when takumi was racing with godhand (s2000), they actually explained about how "between*(dont really remember the word used) drift and grip is better in cornering at fastest speed... some sort of without full grip but not drifting either. thanks for enlightening me
not a car expert but i think that what they told in the anime/manga... dont really remember which version.
