Hopefully Brightstar is bringing in the Moto X Style/Play and Moto G, these are attractive smartphones! drool.gif

does anyone know Brightstar contacts ? can give them a call and check if they want to bring in?

even Singapore also no news on Moto X Style / Play - seems very quiet ... like no demand / interest

Nah, this one is the sensor for Moto Display, i.e. when you reach for your phone or you wave above the phone will display notifications. Have that on the Moto X 2014. Very very useful and convenient, take the phone out of your pocket then you can unlock the phone already, no need to click any button at all. Loving it on my Moto X 2014. rclxms.gif

l love those motion sensor, looks gimmicky, but trust me, there will situations when it is very useful, esp when your hands are dirty / oily / cant pick up the phone ...

i will like to know for those that have owned Moto phones . does these "motion" functions work if I add an custom launcher on it? eg Nova, Action...etc

let brighstar or lenorola know the moto x style is being anticipated here.
*
how to help them know? they got facebook, Google+ Acct? so we can go flood / troll it?

does Brightstar also share the distribution rights to Lenovo here in Malaysia as well ?

In terms of bargain in Malaysia, definitely 1+2's price will be much more competitive because it will be brought in by Maxis.

But if you are looking at customizing the Moto X Style (wooden back tongue.gif), be prepared to pay a premium to get it imported unless you got relative you can tumpang back, save lots of $$ in shipping & can enjoy the promotion/discounts in the US.

As for DirectD, I doubt they will have customizing options, most probably only standard type covers/colours etc.
*
Since Maxis is "open to smaller boutique" brands such as One Plus One ... do u think we should go Facebook them and ask / request / show demand for Moto phones ?

do you that will help?

Those features are awesome but that also means they are always on monitoring which will cause more battery hmm.gif
*
yeah, about the always listening, is it possible to shut it off ?

does the Moto 2014 has this function? if so, can anyone comment?

actually i went through all the comments for Moto X Style ... there were a few people who commented about getting it from US ... but will their LTE bands work in Malaysia?

why not - consider Moto UK instead? will their LTE bands work here?

Basically getting the Pure Edition of the phone meant that it will work on any carrier world wide.

There are two types of the Moto X Style if I recall.

1. X Style (sold only to US Carriers)
2. X Style Pure Edition (not tied to any carrier)
*
so if that is confirm correct ...

that we can all buy the US Version of Moto X PURE EDITION

then wait for Moto Sales / Promotion lor

they have it [i]almost every other month
(almost confirm chop next big sale will be Black Friday / Cyber Monday) - but last yr, so much demand that server died ... haha

I suggest skip X Play. It's not new news that S615 suffer random lagness and slow down.
*
i not so worried about SD615, more concern it has only 2G RAM ,,, not really "future proof"
while X Style 3G RAM, 64BIT - more likely to last me 2 yrs of usage

This phone can never be future proof with its 3GB DDR3 RAM + S808
*
realistically speaking ... how many phones out there has more than 3G RAM ???

correct me if i'm wrong or miss out

Note 5 - 4G, ASUS 4G - but on Intel Chip (you be the judge if it is really that good), LetV - 4G - But no history of making phones / providing updates ..etc

maybe 1-2 smaller PRC OEM that i missed ....

future phones that may or may not have 4G RAM

Meizu MX5 Pro Plus 4G RAM (cos use Samsung chip)

Sony, HTC - they say will have 4G RAM - but do u think they will really do it ?

------------

so technically speaking, SD808 with 3G RAM is really NOT THE BEST PHONE in the market per se
but future proof in terms of phone & camera usage?

i will say min 2 yrs, given Moto track record -
u see even their entry budget phone get Lollipop 5.1 - i am very impressed

while my Meizu MX4 Pro is still on kitkat & ASUS ZF5 also kiktat - even though both have "promised" lollipop updates...

that is why i am very keen to give Moto a try ... least software side .... they are good on their word

I've bought phone from clove UK before. phone price will be without vat and I chose dhl instead of FedEx. phone arrived safely at my office 2 days after that, no need to pay sirim, tax or clearance fee. probably already included in the shipping costs.

this moto x play will cost us about rm1.7k if exclude sirim.
*
Hi, can u please share the reason why you chose DHL instead of FedEx?

cos better tracking service?

RAM is a cheap ( cost difference between 2/3GB to 4GB should be really low ) way to trick consumer, into believing their phone are fast.

It should not affect much on Moto phone as near stock OS with no/minimum bloatware. My N6 RAM usage are hover around 1.5GB to max 2.7GB, so the 3GB RAM are more than enough.
Either wait official set ( if ever come in ) or so famn sure DirectD those will bring in ( with higher price )
Am holding now and wait for Nexuses to be announce in another 2 months, then only decide  whistling.gif

yeah, the almost-Nexus OS / UI is the one the key reasons, why i like Moto Style so much, using Meizu MX4 Pro now, even though got 3G RAM, feels slow ... cos there is a lot random shit running on the background ... i try to switch off a few, but does not seem to help cum, there are some "hidden apps running" -

i just got a bad feeling they are sending data back to the "motherland" ...

yeah, i also waiting for Nexus but from history ... no SD card ... so deal breaker for me

There is an authorized distributor Brightstar that brought in the Moto X 2014, however there is no official news from them on bringing in Moto X Style (Pure Edition).

The other alternative will be parallel importers like DirectD & SatuGadget.

any bro here try contacting local Brightstar MYR ? any news?
checked over at SG side, also no news from Brightstar - if not can try in SG

how about thailand? - u think bangkok will sell ?

Thinking between this and the soon to be released Nexus 5X. Display and camera should be better with the Moto X while the Nexus should have better software support from Google and developers plus a fingerprint sensor. Tough decision. hmm.gif
*
price aside, really a NO BRAINER for comparison for two main reasons

1) is SD Card Storage a deal breaker for you ? if so, just choose Moto, cos N5X will not have it ... (the only Nexus device ever to have SD card, is the first ever Nexus phone ... Google hates SD card )

2) is camera very important to you ? from all the tech reports so far Moto X style not too bad ... but i strongly doubt LG N5X will put in their very best camera into a Nexus devices ...

ie the same camera from LG G4 - Laser autofocus, etc ....

my guess, another disappointment from LG Nexus ... BUT there is a sliver lining, that Nexus Phone support RAW FORMAT. (N6 has that)

so if that is vital to you, then you choose N5X over Moto

-----------------------

realistically speaking software wise, i will Moto is on par with Nexus (maybe just a few months) later for updates ... even for their first gen Moto G / E - still go the latest lollipop ... which is very impressive

given that the company still support their old budget phones ... doubt other BIG BRAND OEM will even bother with their 1 yrs plus mid range phones ...

Hi,

Thanks for posting this review! a few questions need your help to comment

1) Does the US edition of Moto X Pure Edition work with local Malaysian Telecom 4G LTE, can you please post some pics showing the local telecom network with 4G?

2) Can i use the US Power plug off the box - and plug into the local Malaysia power points ?

3) Roughly how many apps did the phone come loaded with? can you uninstall them / or remove them?

thanks!

Moto X Pure Edition  = US only

Moto X Style = Rest of the World
Moto X Pure Edition = Moto X Style

Both are the same phone inside and out, only different branding.

And yes M'sia will get the X Style, recently the phone went through SIRIM certification (go back one page to view the screenshot of the SIRIM website).

Hi,

does anyone know where is the Service Center / Repair Center for Moto phones? in KL / Johor / JB ?
