I don't know how you all are thinking, but in order to play some latest PC games first must have a decent PC setup with rm2+++ atleast that can only last for 1 year. Then next year when another new game comes out, then current PC setup cannot keep up with it. SO for me I will better spend rm800 for a PS2,v atleast can last me for 2~3 years.

Nice trolling. Rm2k ever year? You don't need to buy a new system every year. Smart buying is enough... A RM 2k system can last 2-4 years if you upgrade smart enough.

That being said, it still is more expensive than consoles, but not on the level you're pointing out.

Well, if stay in KL sure can get latest hardware that compatible to latest games. But how about other states? Just take Seremban for example, when Lowyat plaza is selling Gefore FX6***, here still stuck at FX5*** series with FX6*** price. How good is the smart buying concept also no point. Before you trying to say people can always come to KL and buy or something like that, yes, we can, but will it be 100%? No, some people just want less headache and don't want to waste more time on it. See, this is the problem that some people are facing after they buy a new PC and later found out that it cannot play certain games.

So, what you're trying to say is: If you're smart, get a PC, if you're not get a console?

I know, trolling on my part this time, but face it... That IS the actual scenario now.

Just because you don't have access to a card, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Well, I never say that I'm smart, but like you said, it is the actual scenario now. BTW, some proven flaws from me: play latest games using consoles(PS2, Xbox...) quality and stability is way better than using a latest high-end PC(2gig ram, AMD4600+, 240GB HDD)

are u sure your xbox and ps2 graphical and sound quality are better than my x1900xt and future 8800gtx paired with soundcard? you need a spec to cure the anti aliasing from ur eyes.

I not sure on this, but I feel that it is very funny when some people will trying to says that his sound card can produce sound better than home hifi system. I only using a Sony 42" plasma to play my PS2 games with Denon amp and Visaton loud speakers.
BTW, can a high end display card can support till 42" full resulotions?

What has the sound card have to do with anything? Even on a console, you're still limited to the "sound card" in the console itself. What? Home hifi systems can be hooked up to consoles, but not PCs... riiiiiiight. Plus, unless Sony did some crazy change to the PS2 in the last 3 years, there's no 5.1 support (And no 7.1 support on the Xbox if you want to be anal), that right there already should tell you that the "sound card" in a console is worst.

The new nVidia 8800 cards can go up to 2560x1600 (1080p is only 1920x1080), so yeah it that 42'' of yours will do just fine rolleyes.gif whistling.gif

emm it's not 42" resolution, that's just the screen dimension. for example Sony KLV-52X200A lcd tv support a native res of 1920 x 1080, while a geforce 7600 can support a res up to 2560x1600 and that's just a midrange card
as for sound, a highend sound card might sound as good as a hifi system, but since i am not much of an audiophile i can't confirm on this one
graphically the xbox and ps2 will not look as good as todays mid range system, sound will depends, since my ps2 sound is onli from the tv while my pc is using a 5.1 speakers i can't really compare it haha

Man, we really got off the beaten track with this one. This argument always comes up when new consoles come into market. Looking at the price trends though, the next generation of game consoles might as well be PCs. How's that for your dollar?

So far I never come across PC speakers sound can outbeat a home hifi in terms of power(watt rms) and clearity. I do have Sound Blaster Audigy last time, partner with my ADA885, thought can outbeat a home hifi, but when I bought the hifi set, I sell off my sound card and using onboard SC then input to home hifi. Sound card is just like an e-crossover or pre-amp, it only process sounds, not amplify it. And under what reason that PC sound card output cannot hook to amplifier? whistling.gif You never try it before or you don't know that it can be done actually?

And talk about display cards, I have my display card and 19" LCD monitor that can support upto 1280*1024, so what? Can you see for it long time without getting eyes suffering from it? Yes, the display card can go upto 2560*1600, but can our eyes take it?

You totally missed my point didn't you? And have you ever heard of sarcasm? shakehead.gif
This:

was meant as a joke (Notice the long "riiiiiight" in there) because you made it sound like PCs COULDN'T hook up hifi speakers with this line:
QUOTE

And thank you for giving me that unwanted (And totally irrelevant) lesson audio processing.

You brought up a TV that would run in HD (Which outputs to a maximum of 1920x1080), so how long can you stare into that thing before your eyes suffer? I'm pretty sure its more straining than 1280x1024 according to your logic.

Listen, we brought up that super duper resolution cause you made it sound like no PC video card could handle your super duper Sony TV. Plus, do you even know what's the benefit of having such high resolutions for games? Someone give Microsoft and Sony a call, I think they missed someone on their "HD Gaming" marketing machine.

Before I stop replying here, so now you are trying to say that you are joking, yes, is a norm for people to do like this, after a mistake is done. By typing more i's is to highlight that word which you are trying to say that it was true. And I don't think that I ever says that PC sound output cannot hook into home hifi, I was saying that quality is the arguement. Seing the picture in bigger resolutions is better than small as eyes no need to concentrate more.

By that logic, you shouldn't be able to play any current gen console games longer than a few hours as they're all in 640x480...

Oh wait, but you said earlier that bigger resolutions make your eyes suffer...

Circular arguments... brain hurts... *boom*

hahaha...h@h@. i feel you. well, talking to a complete id***, wait, am i suppose to say that word here? aahh...must resist. it is the most suitable word i could find tho. laugh.gif

well, jojo, go pump all your way to 1x1 pixel resolution for your high-end plasma tv (plasma? that's so stone-aged), well, it is better for eyes, also heard someone from tanjung rambutan said that. yes, it is true eyes cannot see fine resolutions as we human needs to scan pixel to pixel to view the whole picture.

what sound quality of hi-fi? i tot u were saying ur uber consoles with 10.2 sound outputs with the home hifi or something?? stop misleading ppl and wear your specs to read every lines carefully.

...ah wait...i forgot it was the 1x1 pixel on your screen! sorry, my bad. uuhh...i am indeed feeling dizzy after reading ur posts with 1680x1050 resolutions...ne...need...a...a...med...medic...

maybe need to move this thread to hardware discussions. laugh.gif
