Yes...you are correct. They uses the same NoteBook hardisk. It's a IDE hardisk btw, not SATA. Don't buy the wrong one. It's kinda hard to take the HD out so do it carefully.

Get an external casing that supports firewire one. I do sometimes experience problems with external hardsik with USB only but not a single problem with firewire. If you have more cash get a notebook HD with external casing supporting firewire port. It gets it's power from the firewire port, so you don't have to lug an extra power adaptor around.
