I see there are not many Polo Sedan owners here so this may be a long shot, but anyway....:

We took delivery of a Polo Sedan last Thursday, and right out the showroom the fuel gauge suddenly show empty with a chime sound, and the fuel icon blinking together with the spanar icon. After we left the car for a while and restart it, it will become normal again, but after driving a while the issue will happen.

This has been going on since we took the car - start the car, everything is normal, drive halfway the fuel gauge goes empty with flashing fuel light and spanar icon. Arrive at destination, leave the car for a while and come back to re-start, everything back to normal until driving halfway it happens again. rinse and repeat.

We have made a complaint to the dealer and they are arranging to have the car sent to their SC. but VW being VW their SC are crowded, so in case we can't solve this in a timely manner, I thought I'd ask if anyone has any idea whats wrong.

Other than that, the car drives normally.

can we expect to change mechatronic every 40k km for the entire lifetime of the car ?
*
I've never once changed my car's mechatronics unit, from 2012 till current. I did change my clutch once.

That was it.

I managed to get a sound sample for you guys =).

Golf MK7 sound
Its a youtube link, Sorry I cant seem to get the youtube thing right on post itself.

So, this is the sound that randomly appears, can be even for a split second and stop, in multiple short burst or longer than the sample.
*
Is it coming from the back of the car? Like some motor whining sound or hissing sound? It happens in slow traffic or even when you drive right?

If it is, then you car have the same problem as mine. The problem stems from the charcoal canister, it just needs to be readjusted or realigned. Or so says the Service Center.

Guys, do any of you know what's the highest rebate for polo sedan? Is polo sedan is a good car? Does it have problem with the dry clutch? Need advises because still cannot decide between polo sedan and honda jazz.
*
Polo sedan is 6 speed Aisin (Toyota) automatic transmission.

It's a good car with a very well designed chassis.

Mind to share how long did your clutch pack last? Do U normally do city drive?
*
Yes city drive.

It lasted a year then it started to judder, but I shouldered on with the same clutch for another 2 years before deciding to have it replaced under warranty.

The mileage should be less that 30k Km in that year I guess, right?

Having need to pay for the pretty steep clutch pack every year when the vehicle no longer covered by warranty doesn't sound convincing to me to buy one with DQ200.

But it's surprising to hear that you can still bear with it for another two years. I thought once it starts to judder, it's a symptom telling you that the friction plates have already worn off, meaning you had been driving for two years with lesser efficiency due to slippage?
*
My mileage is over 80k now! Honestly, I don't see any difference in FC even with a worn clutch. Yes, FC does drop over the course of time but I think that happens to ever car due to wear and tear.

VW are good cars. They just need to be well taken care of.

i am....

and so far no 408 or the latest 308 is fast enough to match my stock car acceleration...

so that is why i want to hear your basis of the engine felt better?
maybe in terms of sound proofing under hard acceleration it felt better as that i can vouch as the Jetta cabin register slightly higher DB compared to a 408 under WOT condition....
*
Maybe the torque kick in the Jetta is lesser than the Peugeot? The car does feel pretty linear, so maybe giving the impression of less power?

Just a guess wink.gif

Off course when talking about straight line performance, the Jetta is faster in everyway when compared to the 408 Turbo although not significant, we all know that don't we? I did mention about the transmission. The Prince EP6CDTM in the 408 Turbo is theoretically having slightly higher output than the 118TSi although the torque for both is the same. The 118TSi has better low end torque as compared to the EP6CDTM.

The paper figures given by 408THP does look nice... until you actually compare its real world stock dyno performance of both cars wink.gif

You mean the dyno result at wheel right? I agree with you. Even theoretical output at wheel the Jetta is higher too.

The Prince EP6CDTM is only having better figure with the output at flywheel, hence the reason even with higher engine output, it's about the same straight line performance as the Jetta although not as fast or faster.

Did I mention the torque converter?

Whatever it is, I'd say now is the time to buy a VW. Preferably a GTI if you can afford it. Worry about the problem only when it happens and not before. Never understood why some people think the 408 is a reliable car. Turbo valve leaking, air cond breaking, or sensor failing (to name a few) are not signs of a reliable car... irregardless if the part is or isn't made by Peugeot, lol!

The following places, not a comprehensive list, sells aftermarket pads for VW

- KS brake (Sunway)
- M power performance ( Bandar Tun Razak)
- Terminal R
- Eurowerks (Sunway)
- Exotic Mods (Kota Damansara)
- Clovertech Garage (Sunway)

If you want stock pads, just look around for VW stockist.

This is what I know

Reliability:
1.8, 2.0 EA888 Engine (1st and 3rd gen) - Rock solid, upgrading the spark plugs and ignition coils will allow for greater modification potential. Turbo upgrade: possible without known issues

2.0 EA113 Engine (Golf R mk6, Sirocco R) - As above, rock solid. But may need also upgrade other components such as the fuel delivery system to keep up.

1.4 twin charged - Sensitive engine. More maintenance required. Limited modification potential unless significant upgrades is done to the engine block itself. Turbo upgrade:

1.4 Single charge (MQB platform) - No known issues with the engine. Limited modification potential.

1.2 tsi engine - Not known to have any major issues itself. Limited modification potential

DSG7 (DQ200) - known to have mechatronics failure and quick worn clutch plate. Not really known to have any other issues once these items have been replaced other than a worn clutch over time. Mechatronics may still occur but a lot less likely after replacement.

DSG6 (DQ250) - Very reliable. The issues that plague the DQ200 do not apply to this transmission

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong
