What just kaput? If bulb, then just change bulb la.

Hi guys, I’m looking for a used VW golf mk7 tsi, is it a recommended choice? Any reliability issues? Is it expensive to own and maintain? Any thing I should check or look into when purchasing? Hope experience VW-ians here can help, thanks

Not a vwian but my friend having a used mk7 tsi reg 2014 which didn't face mecha issue after ~2 yrs ownership.

Rumour say change the gear oil help much.

So the verdict is dont get it? Im looking at it too.used Golf Mk7 2015 1.4 tsi.

i'm not sure either u had make ur decision on your purchase or not but anyway here my input on B8 2.0 HL.

1. B8 2.0HL is my 1st VW. previously driving Focus Mk3.0 Sport+.
2. prior of my purchase, some of my relatives who drove VW (e.g: Jetta CBU, Beetle 1.4, old Toureg, GTi Mk7), most of them comments about re-sale value, and for the Jetta, he faced about gb/clutch/piston crack. but all of them agreed that VW cars really fun to drive (some of them do own BMW and Merc).
3. i bought 2.0HL demo unit (or in bank term, used B8) from Lee Motors Alor Star.
4. mileage on odometer clocked at 24k (Nov-2017) and now clocked at 72k. ownership close to 2 years, and the car itself close to 3 years old (on this september).
5. FYI, my 2.0HL is among the oldest B8 on the road as it was pre-launch media/test car.

so, far main issues as below (my cars service at VW Juru Penang)
1. claim warranty for door card handle (interior); seems quite common for early batch of the car. this one need to leave the car for half day (saturday is fine) for SC to settle it.
2. claim warranty for water pump (seems common also for early batch). this one need to leave car for half day BUT need to be working day, courtesy car hard to come by thus for some people it may pose problem as need to leave the car at SC).
3. going to claim warranty for fuel pump (again, common for early batch of the car). this one also need to leave the car for half-day at SC and need to be on weekdays. so arrangement require.
4. some minor rattling here and there.

other than above mentioned items, im a satisfied and happy buyer. the car drive exceptionally well for its price segment (compared to new Camry which recent i had test drive it, current available Accord and current gen-Mazda6). in fact compared to 3series (F30 gen), Passat B8 2.0HL can hold its own. B8 also have huge boot space which big plus for me.

So far in Fb B8 group, didnt noticed people complaint about GB issue. so i guess should be reliable enough.
