QUOTE(danmooncake @ Jan 14 2016, 11:46 PM) Scalped $1 for XLE.. quickly got in at 54, out 55. This morning bounce is good. Not sure if it got more momo or not. Still confined within the lower range here. looks like a support line fighting pre-show.

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Jan 15 2016, 12:26 AM) dow paring gains, think can get 330... above 330 already. just wondering how come it was traded so much difference from the crude oil index? Crude is now 31.53, up 3.4%. But dwti only 2.3% down, it suppose to be 3.4*3 = about 10% negative. guess i need to relook at how to play them.

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Jan 15 2016, 12:52 AM) if u think tonight is bad, look at aug 27, 28 and 31, 2015. wti gained non-stop a total of 23% in those 3 days, then gave up 40% of the gain on day 4. that's the worse i've seen. imagine holding dwti on those days. that would be heaven or hell. they are trying to hold that 31 now... ya, i understand dwti and uwti are 3x, but tonight their performance are kind of quite heavily out of line. I take crude oil price for reference. Crude oil now up 2.6% DWTI is 3x so suppose to be around -7.8%, but it's trading at -4%. the same goes to UWTI. In fact, both DWTI and UWTI matches quite well with the 1x USO. But, USO is also mismatch with crude price. However, for most of the time, they match quite well. Today a bit out of tone.

QUOTE(danmooncake @ Jan 15 2016, 01:15 AM) I'm watching SP500 here.. it claims back that 1900 level. If it can close above it, I think the market can recover. today low was at 1878, pretty close to the upper bound of support line 1860-1870. If bull more powerful, it may consider "touched the support and rebound". million dollar question is, is the bull powerful or not.

QUOTE(danmooncake @ Jan 15 2016, 02:18 AM) Yes, USO will always mismatch with real crude price in terms of percentage movement. If you read the prospectus of USO, there is thing that that call roll over from month to month. When the real crude price rolls over, USO will lose some value unless backwardation occurs. So, even playing USO more than several weeks or months can be dangerous because futures oil prices are higher than spot price (in contango) and when it rolls, they have to sell current price and re-buy at higher price. It is crazy.. ya, kind of just playing the trend but not precise numbers. Now found out that even on one single day's daily trading also not matching nicely. Quite more into sentiment instead of the real numbers. The gap can be greater than 5% just like what happened today. bull is strong today. This post has been edited by yok70: Jan 15 2016, 03:27 AM

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Jan 15 2016, 10:17 PM) can... u need to have an account to trade in european bourses. foreign brokers like interactive and ameritrade, you can trade 18 hours a day. you mean interactive and ameritrade can trade in pre and post US market? oh, sorry. maybe i blur blur. So anything able to trade futures can trade now at pre market, right? This post has been edited by yok70: Jan 15 2016, 10:24 PM

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Jan 15 2016, 10:27 PM) no, not pre-market. i mean these brokers can offer u to trade in many bourses around the world. if u register and get approved for all of them, can trade round the clock, i believe. wti is traded in asia and europe too. lower volumes, i would think. i only ask for usa, so i can't. maybe one day i'll ask for it. oh. so those after-hour trade is what?
