powering direct from the battery would be better.... no installer in their right mind would power the amp from the ciggie socket or from any other source for that matter...

reason? more stable power and lesser resistance without having to go thru watever before reaching the amp

as usual
12V DC MA not too sure
reason amplifier is power up direct from battery becos it draws a lot of power from the battery
so if take power from cigarette lighter will be not sufficient enuf as the cable is so puny and tiny
also.. amp needs a biiger fuse instead of the little blue fuse at the fuse box

Cigarette lighter's current draw <10amp and amps current draw is >10amp. You can power an amp using it, later the whole thing burn down don't blame anybody..... Think you never see a high power electrical appliance not powered properly. I have tried using extension wire to power a 2000watt oven, it still works only after 1 hours of usage i got ELCB tripped and the extension wire melted with some burnt smell. That's another reason why certain thing needs thin wire and some need thick wire.
