Hi,
Need some advices & recommendation on this two CPU - Core i7 4790 VS Core i5 4690K
Still thinking which to choose for my next build... below are some info
• On Z97 based mobo • Main use: Photo Editing & Video Rendering • Only light gaming
// Unlocked VS Hyperthreaded //
• Does unlocked CPU bring benefit to my need? • What hyperthreaded + does more hyperthreded-count matter for my need?
Thanks in advances...

Based on your need, it is logical to get Core i7-4790. It has HT, higher cache, higher base speed and lower power consumption (Less heat).
K based processors are more for overclocking anyway. Which is of no use to you really.

I would benefit more right for my needs? This post has been edited by sue_cinta: Jul 10 2015, 08:47 PM

Anything with a "K" moniker at the back has unlocked multiplier and better bits here and there. Its more like a race engine for you to tune to get more power. By default its no different than the regular 4790. Don't waste it for the feature that you would not use. Better spend it on bigger ram or SSD hard disk.

First of all.You posted in the wrong section. One of the mods will move this to Hardware. Anyway,what's the Z97 mobo that you've?If you want to overclock,you also need a good aftermarket cooler. For your usage,the 4 extra threads i7 4790 and 4790K have will be helpful.If you don't wanna OC,just get Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz RM969.

Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz ehhh? Sound interesting... what are the benefit of this compare to the both initial option I intend to buy?

Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 is an i7 4790 in disguise,200MHz slower,no iGP but cheaper.If you want to overclock,go for the i7 4790K.

To be honest, the stock i7-4790K is an excellent CPU to get, even without overclocking. For OC-ing gamers, the i5-4690K is probably the best CPU for the money. Based on the OP's requirements however, the best bet would be the Xeon, IMHO.
