From Guru3D for those who can't wait / playing the waiting game for Pascal.......

It's been topic for discussion for a while now. Personally I think we'll see some soft of announcement in April during the GTC, and later on a broad announcement in the Computex timeframe. Likely, and here's why the post starts with 'rumor' only the mobile parts will be announced and launched first, and not the desktop graphics card parts.

According to sources in the industry the mobile replacements for GM204 and GM206 are planned to be released first. Pascal is Nvidia's new GPU architecture, fabbed at 16nm. Everybody is waiting on big Pascal with its 17 billion transistors. As stated we expect Nvidia to share more details on the GPU Technology Conference as the CEO of Nvidia is holding a keynote speech.

Initially everybody expected an April/May release for desktop GPUs based on pascal.

The 'Big pascal' that the PC gaming community is waiting on is called GP100 GPU based on a TSMC 16nm process fab. We'll call that GPU Big Pascal with billions of transistors (16 to 17 billion rumored). Two things can happen here, it will have HBM2 which is complicated, or the cards will use GDDR5X.

In a latest timeframe prognosis Nvidia are rumored to launch the first high-end GP104 GPUs with models GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 (should Nvidia use their old naming scheme). These chips would come in a 37.5×37.5mm BGA package, and has 2152 pins. Pascal GPUs are fabbed in the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) (recently hit by an earthquake) based on the new 16nm FinFET process, a process that uses the popular stacking method that NAND these days uses as well. It should result in significant power savings.

Anyway, so be it, mobile parts will likely be released first.

Things that are surely to be certain are:

-Product cycles are getting longer these days, hence you can expect new launches between 2 generation levels Longer timeframe.
-Technology companies are not stupid. they will milk out (max) cash flow out of each generational products before launching a new one. Like this Mr Huang of NVidia. (he got the business brain in him)

Now...Now...now.....

let's get over this hype over the 1080/1070.

don't you think Nvidia is getting adventurous in charging a premium on those so called "Founders" edition a.k.a reference cards ?

Mr H.J.H would have figure it out:
Give it a special/funky name and voila, we can charge more........and those early adopter suckers would fall for it....

after all, this is a business game.

Seen those reviews.

Stock (Founders Edition) 1080 is about 30% or so faster than stock 980 Ti.

And that's exactly what will be put on the market first. Reference cards and that's nothing to shout abt and running at 80+ C heat.

to make it simple, 980 Ti custom OC cards are abt 20% slower.

and you still need 2 of 1080 for silky smooth rates at 4K resolution.

Let's put all this Nvidia P.R/Marketing/Business crap aside......

If the Founders (Reference) 1080 card is RM3,399 msrp when it hits locally,

YOU CAN EXPECT Custom OC Cards price to be Higher than THAT.

Nobody is gonna spend the time/money/R&D to build custom/OC cards & PRICE it below reference cards. That's basic business sense

Pricing in the UK.

For INFO ONLY. Founders Vs AIB cards.

Nvidia introduced something a bit different this year with the launch of the GTX 1080- ‘Founders Edition’ cards, which use reference coolers and start at £619.99 here in the UK. This led to some concern about the pricing of GTX 1080s using after market coolers but as it turns out, the situation isn’t bad at all, with GTX 1080s from board partners starting as low as £524.99.

The GTX 1080 went on sale about an hour ago at the time of writing and while there are plenty of ‘Founders Edition’ cards to choose from, there are also plenty of cards from board partners. Right now KFA2 and MSI have two ‘blower style’ cooled GTX 1080s up for £524.99 and £533.99 respectively but if you can spare an extra £25, you start to hit the cards with bigger cooler designs on them.

Right now on Overclockers UK, you can grab the Inno3D Herculez GTX 1080, or the KFA2 EX OC model which features a dual-fan cooler. Starting at £569.99 you can grab MSI GTX 1080 Armour Edition, which uses a similar cooler to the Gaming series cards but in black and white. Or alternatively, Inno3D have the GTX 1080 iChill Air Boss X3 which uses a monstrous triple fan cooler design.

If you’re after an EVGA model, then you can grab the GTX 1080 ACX 3.0 starting at £578.99 or £609.99 for the FTW Edition. The Gigabyte G1 GTX 1080 starts at £608.99 meanwhile the Asus DCU III Strix and Zotac AMP! cards start at £619.99. In all, these prices are very encouraging with a lot of attractive options below the founders edition price.

You can find all of these cards over at Overclockers UK, who have managed to put together quite an extensive selection of cards for pre-order.

KitGuru Says: Personally, I was expecting most third-party GTX 1080s to match or exceed Founders Edition pricing but I am very happy to find that is not the case. Are any of you shopping around for a GTX 1080? Are any of you surprised by some of the prices?

Haven't I Said This Much Earlier:

"No one (manufacturer) is gonna build a custom OC card and PRICE it Below a reference card"

so much so of NVidia's P.R marketing. "AIB cheaper than FE"

There you have it. it's already at asus's previous custom card 980Ti / 980 pricing.

and this is not even the TI version of 1080...........

Czone are basket. They have stock but say dont have. Posted on fb they have stock sametime was at their counter.
But if you tell them you want to buy a system.. Then they said they have.

never like to buy frm Czone. definitely they have stock but in very limited quantities. they prefer to sell it in a 'bundle" state. This is the sort of Cold treatment you get when dealing with Czone. APPLIES to new high-end hardware (not just GPU).
