well thats what happened when they placed the wrong bet on hmc :/

we thought those fiji low stock was bad. now with rumors that hbm2 will also be low on supply, and amd going to get priority. thats gonna suck for nvidia doh.gif

i'm wondering though should i get a gp100 or a gp104 ? not really sure whats the difference other than the former will come first. will it follow the same strategy that the higher end card comes out first ? cause i rather get that card if thats the case doh.gif

Is my Intel 3770 ivy bridge going to be enough :/ ? don't really feel like upgrading that until cannonlake. Also wondering how the amd zen will turn out, whether it will rock the boat in the cpu market kek.
*
cpu didnt not aged as easily as gpu.
i hve confidence it can last more than 2 generation..at least

QUOTE(kmarc @ Aug 10 2015, 09:25 AM)
After contemplating between a 390x and GTX980, finally decided to go for the GTX980. Granted that 390x is way cheaper and almost on par with 980 but I decided for the 980 due to lower power consumption and less heat. GTX980's overclocking headroom is also better but I don't normally overclock my parts nowadays except for testing..... old already....  biggrin.gif

Nice to be able to easily plop in the card, replacing my MSI GTX760, with the same 8-pin + 6-pin PCI-E connectors. Also great to see that the power consumption is about 190w (based on reviews) as compared to 165w on the old MSI.

Luckily my coolermaster 690 casing was able to accommodate the card, only with less than 2cm to spare!

And so, my first high-end card after using mid-end cards all my life!!!! (AMD 9600 pro, 7800 gs, 8800gts, 8800gt, GTX260, GTX460)

Now thinking whether I should go 1440p  sweat.gif (gaming on 1080p all my life too!)
*
144fps is a way to go. laugh.gif

As mentioned, not willing to put the other foot in due to price. Definitely the itch is there but just have to scratch and scratch and scratch......

Anyway, going to survey and see what 1440p monitors are good.  smile.gif
144fps? shocking.gif Never had such frame rates unless it is 5-10 year old games!!!
*
errr...need 5-10 years old games to play on 144hz monitor?.

Woohoo. CGPA 4 ringgit equals 1 USD. At this rate, i think i rather jump 2 volta in 2017. It will need some sort of miracles 2 ever get back 2 zaman 2.8 equals a dollar. laugh.gif doh.gif
*
i feels like it was last week our 2.8 = 1dollar. cry.gif

i dont know if i can still continue with my plan changing to itx.

Yup, price from Newegg is USD174 (170+4 shipping) , which will equal MYR724, plus 6% GST is MYR767 . Asus Malaysia price with free thumb drive is MYR879 , 112 ringgit difference.

Seems the GTX950 dont have free game . Kind of expected seeing it is a budget card.  biggrin.gif

Designwise the EVGA one looks quite premium . Might get  one from Amazon  drool.gif
*
could wait from idealtech. they seems to bring evga cards now.

hard to say, last time it was 4 digits with suffixes.

After the 9800 GT and whatever else then came the new series GTX 2xx

Now we reach GTX 980 Ti who knows future models would be like X100, then X200 ...........
*
that was better than 4 digit thumbup.gif

actually price is almost the same, its just that they usually get discounted so many times with free shipping most of the time.

You make it sound like there's no monopoly in the US. Newegg and Amazon not monopoly then what are they called? sweat.gif

Prices look cheap there because of several things:

1) Tax is not inclusive and depending on the state, tax rates are DIFFERENT. Think like GST 6% throughout the whole nation?
2) They have mail-in rebates. But do you know how much of a hassle mail-in rebates are?
3) The market there is far, far, farrrrr bigger than our puny ass market where people are complaining about why their intergrated GPUs can't run high-end games. Quantity dictates prices in the US.
P.S
There's a saying that goes: you're either in debt or you're not called an american.
*
i didnt said theres no monopoly, monopoly is what astro is, is what tm is.

what i said is here in msia, 1 shop cant simply lower the price even though they can still make profit from it cause other shop will rage and question them "why making the item price so low".
also when u look at their fb, one shop sell discount gpu and give free tshirt the other shop is also doing the free same tshirt but maybe with different item/hardware.

everyday week if not day i check /r/buildapcsales, soooooo many different sales on from frys, staples, microcenter, bestbuy, and even ebay. mostly different hardware.

edit*

also theres law about monopoly in us, thats one of the reason even intel didnt want amd to die.

*i dont wanna go thru with this anymore. this is prolly not on thread topic.

i thought what they show is Founder Edition? no?

after reading it, the conclusion is:
AIB pricing starts from $600. Nvidia Ref Cooler (Founder Edition) is = $700??
http://www.gamersnexus.net/news-pc/2427-di...n-and-reference
*
yeah, according to them they just no longer going to use the word "reference", its gonna be "founder edition" now.

fancy eh tongue.gif

Ashes of Singularity Benchmark prove otherwise. hmm.gif
it does faster than single 980 ti tho, but for like 4 fps avg only.

i would love to see more benchmark. smile.gif

QUOTE(g104 @ May 13 2016, 03:19 PM)
u can buy 3 or 4 cards but there will be no driver support from NVIDIA. max 2 gpu for SLI

try get pre order directly from NV website for founders edition
*
honestly thats a good move. 3/4 way sli support already poor.

for 99% of people this will not be an issue.
anything after 2 cards is a waste of money, and with the way the new GPUs are performing there shouldn't be a need for more than 2.

the people who may be sad by this are benchmarkers.
