Have you tried to disable and re-enable file sharing on that folder/drive in Windows? It is possible that the file sharing permissions are not being set correctly...

It is important to enable "network users to change my files". You may want to right-click and go to preferences and ensure that the underlying filesystem is read-write as well.

Windows sharing has two sets of permissions involved with sharing. The NTFS filesystem permissions and the share permissions. The problem may be the share permissions. The default for the share permissions is read-only.

yeah....

in fact all of them are chinese.....and long file names.....all chinese series downloaded from BT...

but i have other folders that has all their files in chinese and long file names as well...but they are fine....

i have another wild guess.....does the 32GB limit thing affect this as well?? coz the folder is more than 32GB

That could be the reason. Try spiltting the folder into two. If cannot create a new folder and transfer everything there and rename it. Keep us posted what happened.

From my experience, OS X has trouble reading folders with a large number of files on a NTFS volume. Try splitting the contents of the folder in two as Timber suggested...

Yes, try to resize it by splitting the contents into two folder. If that doesn't work, create a new folder, copy the content from the previous folder to the new one. Rename the new folder to another (and maybe shorter) name. Example: your previous folder name is "My Great Pics" your new folder name it to "Pics". See what happens.

I do have problems with NTFS format. Mac can read it but not write it. I formatted all my external HD to FAT32 with size less than 30GB so that I can transfer my video files back and forth the pc and Mac.

i once have problem transferring so mp3 from windows to linux and i found out it is because of the chinese characters... what i do is i RAR it and split it to a few files (the total size is about 9GB) and transfer it then unRAR it and it works fine... even the characters are displaying properly... i think os X (being *nix based) should be the same here...

Easiest possible way, access your computer via FTP. OSX has a built in FTP server. So login from your windows machine and drag n drop till your heart's content.
