But surely it will be made with strict adherence to Panasonic's Japanese standards, same like Olympus? Your still having the "made-in-China" phobia? sweat.gif Yet still, quite a bold move by Panasonic?

Obviously Keeping costs down has made the Panasonic digital camera section to move to China, otherwise how else to keep our new toys price down thumbup.gif

I agree Olympus has lot of QC problems, but i think it is design flaw rather than manufacturing country.

I experienced both: My previous E-PL3 made in Vietnam also suffers the screen bezel crack by itself, and E-P3 made in China also has the mode dial not securely attached problem.

GM5 mostly import from Hong Kong or Singapore. Language selection a bit different where HK set includes Traditional Chinese while Sg set includes Simplified Chinese.

Compared to Panasonic yes, Olympus earlier bodies had a few quirks. I had similar problems with mode dial in Ep3 and Em5 that came-off but easily fixed. I also had paint coming-off Ep1 and faulty motherboard that got replaced with a new one. All these happened in earlier bodies.

I didn't had cracks but did experienced mode dial coming-off but easily fixed with a few crops of superglue. It could either be poor QC implementation or inferior material used. A camera (especially DSLR or mirror-less)is a high-end product and one doesn't expect parts to fail easily. Cameras of days passed were built so tough they were referred as tanks! Imagine that! notworthy.gif

Bro, you poison me edy, very very hard to resist this 34/1.7!! sweat.gif cheaper and better and looks identical to the Kaxinda 35/1.7! The best thing is it can be mounted directly without an adapter to our beloved cam. With postage costs (delivered direct to Malaysian address), it will cost about rmb422 only, way cheaper than the KXD 35/1.7 that costs rmb450 just the lens alone.

Bro, are you going for it? brows.gif
