Pana 20mm 1.7 vs Sigma 19mm 2.8. Performance & sharpness, which is better?
*
I've been looking for a used m43-mount Sigma 19mm f2.8 last few weeks ago but no luck, it's so rare in the used market.

Generally people will go for 20mm f1.7 (image sharpness) or 17mm f1.8 (af performance)...so 19mm is left in the cold unsure.gif

Comparison here:

Pana 20mm beats the 19mm every aspect of the game, almost, except the AF speed, if your after this. Otherwise, 20mm a clear winner. I will still go for the 20mm anyday. BOTAK_WAI got it right when he said the 19mm is out cold, coz it's knocked off by the 20/1.7! thumbup.gif However, if you haven't had 20mm yet and you come across a cheap Sigma 19mm, go for it.

selling price is cheap around 2.1k only. I believe it's import set. Would be better to buy direct from miyamondo right...
Not aware got such promotion. Will look into it! Thanks!

if getting a gm5 local set is difficult, have you ever consider alternative camera like LX100? blush.gif

it's official raw development software for panasonic, it has what it should have and it does what it should do, ntg special, quite easy to use.  biggrin.gif
Olympus in China is doing promotion for the 45mm f1.8, dealers are selling it for CNY1300 with CNY300 cash back program. Why Malaysia no such offer  ohmy.gif

One or two months ago, Olympus Malaysia have similar cash back program. I purchase a 75 300 II from YL, register online, and test my luck with that program. Got reply and cash back RM300 rclxms.gif So sad the program ended now as I'm itching to upgrade my cam body drool.gif

Compared my friend's 20mm, vs my 17mm, ya 20mm are slower in AF but excel in IQ and bokeh

If paired with pana bodies, the 20mm seems to be faster. So I still say go for it.

Bro, THX for the video!

Unbelievable how the dual IS perform, looks like it beats the Oly's 5-axis at the Tele-end. This is really good news for birders and telephoto users. Just wow! That's huge. You will not be ashamed carrying the GX8 for birding, particularly if all your friends are carrying bazookas!

Like on the GF series? I reckon that's gonna take sometime. I think it depends on how Successful the GX8 will be. I can foresee not too long from now, longer reach lenses from Pana or even Oly will come out. For now, the longest Tele from Pana is the 100-300 if I am not wrong.

Bro, the lens that was used in the IBIS shootout, seems to be a zoom lens right?

Imaging resource review of the GX8 Mentioned thus, see below pic, that the dual IS doesn't support the 100-300? rclxub.gif

You meant YL ? I had the impression their street price are quite good ( cant compare to Lazada those with random discount la ).

600mm ( in 35mm equi ) not long enough ah bro ? laugh.gif
I'm more toward wanting them to improve on tele lens IQ, the oly 75 300 II that I had wasnt too impressive.

The longer the better bro, normally the longest end isn't usable as the optimum for IQ normally settled at up to 90% of the telephoto end, say 300mm x 90% =270mm (540mm in FF), so if we have a 400mm, thats 360mm equiv. to 720mm!! That's huge difference. You can shoot from a really safe / undisturbed location thumbup.gif

Edit: the Oly 75-300 II is the best at the moment among m4/3. Wait for the 100-400!

20mm AF speed is ok for still but not fast enough for "fast" action.

Its me again! Ok so I have called up Miyamondo Sunway branch to check on stock availability for GM5 but sadly they don't. So I have these 2 options: -

1) Go to Sunway branch, pay deposit and wait for them to call me when the stock arrives.Takes 3-5 days according to them and it's an import set.
2) Order from Lazada (import set too) and wait for them to courier (either ABD or Miyamondo?) My worries is if they would send defect or dented unit to me as I don't get to inspect and test before confirming purchase. Am I worry too much?

Which one would you go for?
