If your name on the cheque, only u can have the money not the bank staff or anyone.
and if u cheque got reject or kena tendang, it will not deduct the money in account.
so u can tell the issuer to keluarkan cheque baru.
*
they still can if the 'atau pembawa/or bearer' wordings are not crossed.

this maybank cheque has the 'atau pembawa/or bearer' wordings xxx-ed out.

this hsbc cheque hasn't:

this is what lucifah told us before.

so don't think just because the cheque has your name doesn't mean someone else cannot bank into their account...

SO Must cross the word lah???
*
yes, must cross the word if you ask someone else to deposit the cheque on your behalf.

if you yourself go to the cheque deposit machine, then probably ok not to cross those words out.

cash cheque kena cashkan kat branch yang account tu di buka.are you sure???

nombor account kena tulis???kasi cash pun kena tulis penerima punya account nombor?
*
1. yes, the problem with cash cheques is that you need to cash in person at the branch issuing the cheque.

which is a problem if you get a cash cheque from KL branch while u are in JB...

2. no, no need account no. for receiver.

cash means cash, you bring the cash cheque to the branch counter, straight away you get cash money.

you wanna cheong/buy toto/deposit into another bank using that other bank's cash deposit machine is up to you...

ko beli barang ke apa ni ? kalau ko cash CHEUQUE ..bila orang tu dah dapat CASH ko tak boleh CANCEL apa apa pun tau.

kalau ko x cross atau follow normal prosedur need 1 to 2 days. kalau ada masalah ko boleh call bank to stop cheque.
*
if not crossed at a/c payee, that is not cash cheque already la...

Btw, must the amount be in rounded figure or can you cash out even the cents ?
Has anyone done this before ?
*
the bank will give the exact amount as stated on the cheque.

no matter if it's to person/company or cash...

if i want my receiver get  cash on bank?should cross or not cross?
*
what do you mean by this?

you want receiver to bring your cheque to the bank and straight away get cash?

then write 'cash' (without the ' '), cross out the a/c payee only and countersign on it

(like what the HSBC cheque showed).

but as mentioned by everyone else, it will mean anyone can get cash money immediately if they cash it, not just your intended receiver.

for once i lose 200 ringgit trying to bank in a cash cheque into my account, i didnt know its a cash cheque until the issuer told me. clearly 1 of the bank staff is 200 ringgit richer.
*
why you didn't go to counter?

AFAIK cash cheques cnnot be deposited using cheque deposit machine, must go to counter...

*
ye ke kalau letak nama dan account no. selamat?

if cash cheque mana ada letak nama dah.

account no. pun isi kat belakang, itupun technically anything written at the back is not the official instruction/arahan, just as a guidleine.

of which the processor have no obligation to follow....

i have deposited cheque without putting account no. at the back, still processed and correctly went to my account...

yup. nak cashkan cheque tu kena branch yang dia bukak.. kalau ko bukak kat Kedah...tapi penerima kat Selangor...... laugh.gif
kalau ko nak kasi cash. tulis nama penerima tu AAAA bin ABCDEF  . pastu tandatangan apa semua la. no penerima kat belakang cheque tu BIAR TUAN PENERIMA tu isi. ko x payah susah susah.
cash cheque 100% ko kena pergi kaunter. kat situ on-the-spot mmg settle.
*
nope, if cash cheque the bank doesn't care if name wrong or not.

because by countersigning the 'a/c payee only' on the top of cheque means you allow the bank to proceed payment regardless of the person cashing in the cheque in the intended person or not...

that is the reason why cash cheques are extremly discouraged...

aku ada cheque book tapi kurang guna. each time nak guna tandatangan mesti silap. bila aku Tanya orang bank tu ...

saya nak tengok tandatagan saya sendiri boleh ?
dia tengok aku lain macam.
*
memang la macam tu, bagus budak counter bank tu.

mana tau kau curik chequebook orang lain pastu memandai buat cash cheque...

this shows that you are not a suitable person to use a chequebook, as you can't even remember or use a single signature...

i think u r the real cheque master here  laugh.gif

personally i use bank transfer only, dunno much and dun bother use cheque book tho

thanks, but i should give credit to lucifah for the 'or bearer/atau pembawa' part.

most ppl won't ever use cheque or cheque books, as it requires a specific type of account (current account) and not simply any savings-type account.

at most, you'd probably use a banker's cheque or bank draft if the payment requires a cheque instead of cash.

every few months or so, there will always be a tered about cheques...

and usually most ppl especially KITT will come and give the wrong info or the unsafe method of using cheques...

(in short, cash cheques are bad)...
