For a better value for a Metallica fan, I would prefer to get Kirk's guitars.... The LTD KH-603 which is a Les Paul body with EMG-81s, 24 X-tra Jumbo Frets, AND an original Floyd Rose Trem, as well... I think it's less then a hundred USD compared to the Truckster.

If I would go for a Metallica guitar on a budget..... THAT would be the one.

If you want something even cheaper, try out the KH-203, Les Paul body with a Floyd Rose and 24 X-tra Jumbo frets, but with Passive (I think) ESP-EMG LH-300 Pickups....
Retailing for $699USD.... compared to the KH-603 which goes for USD$1,349 and the LTD Truckster at USD $1,299

Asking for a friend here...

He's getting rid of his crappy china amp and wants a decent 30 watter. The guy will be buying a Zoom G2.1u after CNY to handle his FX needs...therefore buying a Vox AD30VT would be quite pointless, right? (Unless I am missing out on something)

So what's a good, clean 30 watt amp for rock/metal?

edit: Or will a AD30VT be sufficient to handle general FX needs?

the Vox AD30 should be a good starter for efx, myself i generally dont use efx much anymore, prefer straight distortion/overdrive.

just one thing tho, the Vox footswitch is sold seperately.
and for efx, i will always avoid zoom no matter who says how good it is.

there is also the roland cube30, which supposedly has heavier gain tho i never tried, not bothered.

and clean 30 watt amp for rock/metal? what metal is played clean? tongue.gif

From reports, the G2.1u is a pretty decent unit, mainly because it also supports direct recording to the PC via USB....... but I'm still quite skeptical about Zoom.... even though I used two of their products before.....

But if you're playing metal, would go for a roland cube30x instead of the Vox...... mainly because Vox distortions, although they are good for most rock songs, if you need that extra gain push, the Roland Cube can deliver that better. It also supports an optional foot controller like the Vox and has decent effects built-in as well.

today i went harmony and checked out the dime distortion...
requires TWO 9v batteries, but they do supply an adaptor so its good.

also saw a MIC Epi LP there, construction about the same, but finishing the MIK is better.

Dime Distortion is just BRUTAL. I tried it once and the gain is just monumental! It's too heavy for my type of playing, but it's like the Metal Zone, but done right.

since when do proxy's speed up your internet?
the packets still have to come back to your pc, ie. streamyx line.

Actually.... they do. It's proven.....
But I prefer not to use proxies for my regular internet surfing...... alot of security errors from certain sites I go to..... NOT PR0N!!!!!!

how does it work then by speeding up?
from what i know proxies just do what they say, to surf anonymously.

the packets still have to come to back via your line, so technically if you go thru a proxy you're surfing at a slower speed.
what maybe it does, say if your ip is banned / cannot access the site, then the proxy on a different ip can access it for you, then download that info to your own PC.

But the fact that our international links are down (they still are).... linking to Australia which doesn't use the Taiwan backbone because it routes from the other side of the globe....you get the benefit of a faster international speed. But because I'm using Low Yat.net and mostly Malaysian sites, then that would suffer.
