RBA Holds Rate as Greek Drama Drives Aussie Below 75 Cents

Australia left its key interest rate unchanged after Greece’s drama drove the currency below 75 U.S. cents and Sydney’s property bubble argued against a further cut.

Central bank Governor Glenn Stevens kept the cash rate at a record-low 2 percent Tuesday as predicted by markets and economists, and after cuts in May and February. He identified 75 cents in December as a level that would help the economy.

“The Australian dollar has declined noticeably against a rising U.S. dollar over the past year, though less so against a basket of currencies,” Stevens said in a statement. “Further depreciation seems both likely and necessary, particularly given the significant declines in key commodity prices.”

monthly auto deduction will eliminate the guesswork and emotional factors of investing....
(guess work as in timing the mkts, emotional as in fear when the mkts corrects)

do monthly investment if you just starting out....buy in more when the markets corrects at the same time if you see that the regions will have more upside after the corrections....

hmm.gif You said this..."I know that this strategy is work with some low risk mutual fund, not sure is it correct way to do this in high risk equity fund?"
isn't it low risk mutual funds will usually fluctuates less...thus...anytime is also a good time to invest....lump sum or monthly deduction.....?

Thanks for the responding, ermm so meaning that most properly the technique use will be monthly deduction (so called ringgit cross average) even is for the high risk market which 100% on equity fund(provided you pick the correct fund with overall uptrend right?). Did you use any profile balancing?

for low risk mutual fund yeah you are quite right, but if lump sum also need to see the market timing right?

Last, do you have any book recommend to understand more on investing in unit trust? Thanks. biggrin.gif

Templeton Emerging Markets Group’s head Mark Mobius sees a lot of upside from emerging markets, especially with the strong growth story.

Mobius points out markets in emerging Asia as well as frontier markets in Africa have been growing even faster than the overall average for emerging markets over the past few years, and he expects that trend should continue this year.

Currently I have about 38% to 40% of my portfolio in Greater China.

Topped up all my China linked funds periodically for the past 1 1/2 months. Currently my ROI is down to 4.03%.

My portfolio now is about 85% equity funds and 15% fixed income/bond funds. Should survive this onslaught.

Hi, you may try reading any of these books...

(1) The 3% Signal by Jason Kelly
(2) The Four Pillars Of Investing by William J Bernstein
(3) All About Asset Allocation by Richard Ferri, 2nd Edition.

Sorry, I forgot to ask. Are you looking for books catering for beginner, intermediate or advance/expert readers?

Hahaha, we never learn from our past experience do we?

But then again human beings are strange creatures. This is like telling someone not to smoke, drink, gamble or fornicate because it is bad for our health, sinful, etc. We will still continue doing it and will only stop after something drastic happens. biggrin.gif

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) has played their game well. After getting Najib to deny his involvement over the past few days, WSJ has now started uploading original banking documents depicting the money trail into the various accounts.

Be prepared for more downside for KLSE tomorrow.
