do you mind elaborate more on "short-term-buy"? is this not future proof ... at least for another 2 years? I would believe that w 3gb ram and kirin soc chip will be able to handle most of the thing for the next 2 years.
and what's so special with ZTE Nubia Z7 Max that Honor 7 is lacking? price point is about the same
Short-term-buy = H7 is either luv it or hate it device. Hence, I strongly advice potential buyers to try the device for more than 10 minutes. Try the single hand operation with the weight-to-body ratio which is bad in my opinion. This device is unnecessarily "heavy". Even typing using two hands also uncomfortable after like 60 seconds. Taking pix without blocking the lense is kind of annoying. If you buy online & never test drive the device, after awhile you may have the urge to sell back as second hand unit. That's "short-term-buy" in my vocabulary.
ZTE Nubia Z7 Max is way more superior than H7 in terms of:
1) Strong dev support from moderators as well as ZTE in-house team. The device has CM12.1 mod, and now progressively updating to more stable 5.1.1. However, I'm not expecting it to go all the way to Mallow. Lolli is enuff.
2) It supports dual-SIM with separate microSD card. Besides, I don't need any SIM ejector pin to replace the SIM. Just remove the back cover and use thumb to remove the SIM. The same goes for the microSD card tray.
3) Nubia Z7 Max has NFC. Future proof for mobile payment (if it ever launch here in Malaysia). Also, easily pairing with my smartband/wearable devices.
4) Nubia Z7 Max with Snap801 together with fine tuning of the system (stock) has great idle power consumption. It losts 1% over 6 hours idle. H7 is about 5% which can be improved in the next update(s).
5) Nubia Z7 Max has the best call, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity in terms of stability and signal strength. I can continue my call conversation in an elevator without worrying the call will be disconnected.
6) The auto-brightness in H7 is wonky. Next OTA should solve this bug. Another point for "short-term-buy".
7) H7 does not have manual mode for the still pix photography. Although 3rd party apps may solve this, but, stability and pix quality of 3rd party apps is questionable. Nubia Z7 Max has manual mode settings by default in the stock ROM. Only just the Sony IMX214 sensor is old compared to H7 IMX230. But it's not about hardware alone, software algorithms plays important role as well.
8) With SRP of RM1,399 for 16GB, it is in my opinion a bit over-priced compared to over 1 year old launching price of Nubia Z7 Max (32GB) in 2014. As per my review, this H7 should be priced at RM1,099 for 32GB storage.
