I'm a newbie currently buying furnitures for my new house. Bought my first L shape sofa set yesterday (2+L) at Matrade home expo, from a brand called Hauzze sofa for RM3880. They upgraded my fabric to premium quality fabric called Brunotte (those water repellent one and they said it's from Germany and Italy)

But when I search online, I can't find the brand Hauzze anywhere. The sales agent said they are a manufacturer, Rigno and Le Meuble are their showroom.

Anyone has experience using this sofa? I'm quite worried if I've made the right decision

You already bought it and whether right or not if you stuck with it. You should have done some basic research before buying anything. We have many local brands that very hard to keep track of all of them. To be honest this sofa brand and fabric are unknown to me personally (but that may not say much as there are many out there).

Before you buy the brand is less important. You should have asked what is the sofa frame made from (metal, what type of solid wood used, etc), springs, cushion used, joint, mechanism (if any) and legs. The common good fabric are acacia, aqua clean. Fabric is probably 60-70% of the cost of the sofas.

Anyway 3800 for a sofa is not that bad a price. Mine is more than 10k made with nyatoh frame but much bigger with Aqua Clean fabric. So just accept it and just be more aware when you buy next time

Thanks for the reply. I'm having some post purchase dissonance here and just afraid of the likelihood of getting conned hence trying to see if anyone has experience using this brand. Sofa frame is made of Meranti wood and for the mechanism is the type where the sofa seats can be pulled in and out to be extended. Not too sure about the other details though. Thanks for the advice I'll definitely be much more aware for my next purchases

Meranti frame is ok. The important things to look for in sofa are the frame, the spring/cushion and fabric/leather. The fabric/leather is the biggest component of the cost. So next time you need to ensure that one is what you really want. We choose Aqua Clean over Acacia. Both have wide range of products and prices. There are many other brands out there ... all depends on design, specs and durability

RM13k for full leather (semi aniline) 3+2 sofa is okay price or expensive? I have been reading about leather sofa in LYN and mostly people buying leather sofa never more than 10k

That's not true. My L shape 14ft sofa with Italian leather would be RM17k. I am too poor to get it so compromised to get Aqua Clean fabric for 13k

It’s true here in LYN. I have been reading almost all thread regarding leather sofa here but mostly the price mentioned is around 5-7k for 3+2 set.

I didn’t ask the origin of the leather. Only asked about type of leather treatment undergone. Didn’t cross my mind to ask about the origin.

So RM13k for 3+2 is reasonable? I saw IKEA selling the same design but using pigmented leather (half leather upholstery) at price around RM8k for the same combination of 3+2. The name was landskrona IINM.

And it is from an established local manufacturer. Not middleman outsourcing their design from 3rd party manufacturer. So i am not worry about the warranty.

You should check shops such as Cellini, Rozel etc. Ask for the similar one and compare price. To me if Italian leather then it's ok. If non Italian, it's higher than average but if built is good (I.e frame, springs, etc) then may be ok too

Ikea's pigmented leather is inferior to full leather. I don't know the specific spec off this model but Ikea furniture are not necessarily made with best wood materials.

BTW if you ever noticed LYF here most tend to care about price over any other things. That's why I would never ask people what sinks or taps or water heater to use.

Went to rozel. Their salesperson was clueless about their own product. So, no rozel for me. And their design is a bit oldschool.

Haven’t gone to cellini, but saw in their website, some of the design looks nice.

Other than italy, where would they normally source high quality leather?

I noticed the same thing too. Which is why i normally use this forum to ask “where to buy” instead of “what to buy”. Because of we care too much about the price here, some people would know where you can get the best price for the product you had in mind.

Lol. I didn't ask you to buy from Rozel or Cellini but to check price as references. Cellini products are reasonably durable but a bit too boring to me.

As per leather the best tanneries in the world are Italian. So most shops will tell you theirs are Italian leather. But off course not all of them are the same. Of course type of leather: full grain, pigmented, aniline, semi aniline is most important. Then the tannery that produces it comes second

Leather is luxurious looking but personally I find the good fabric are better to sit on. Wont get hot like leather and sooner are softer too.

Displayed price in Rozel are more or less the same for sofa of same size. Haven’t check cellini. I went to majuhome & harvey norman, the price were much cheaper. But i didn’t ask in detail about the composition of the sofa.

I already have one fabric sofa set at home. Since i am moving from an apartment to a terrace house, i need another set of sofa (the current set i will put upstairs). I want leather because i visioned a leather sofa in my concept ideas and i always wanted to own a leather, so this is the best time for me to buy. Otherwise if i buy fabric now, i might wait another 10 years before buying a new sofa.

Rule no.1. Never pay for displayed/list price. So that's not an apple to apple comparison. Harvey Norman stuff are average to below average on built and they subcontracted the work to local factory. They may be ok if on 50% sale.

Go with leather if you like it. It is definitely more luxurious. Pay a little more for good leather is fine. It is more worth than 3k grohe shower set 😬

Yeah i noticed that the leather goods in harvey norman is of subpar quality. They only furniture i would definitely buy from harvey norman is the lazboy recliner. But that one isn’t in the budget for now

Yes. I am aware that i shouldn’t pay display price. But what i don’t know is how much should i negotiate. My comparison with rozel is on display price because i don’t bother asking the final price. And the sofa i am eyeing was priced at 17k, with discount 20%. But i think if i am serious i should able to ask for further discount. But how much should i ask? 5%? 10%?

Yeah. 3k grohe shower set (or 5.5k in Malaysia don’t know why it is so overpriced here) is now out of question. Better use the money somewhere else for now.

Furniture you should ask for 30-50% discount for most. That said I did mine at Abitek MV. They give only 10% plus but they are custom made and they don't put inflated price upfront. You have to know the seller

Actually what I’ve learned from shopping for furniture is not about how much discount u can get (40% 50% 60%). Just see everything in net prices (after discount price) and compare because the before discount price is just a mark up from their actual selling prices.
King Living sofa’s seems pretty modern and sleek but pretty overpriced IMO. Good for those with unlimited budgets.
Harvey norman not too bad only for some items. Like their hilker brand sofa range.

I agree with you that the final net price is the right one. But if you look at those "popular" ones like Cellini 40-50% from display prices only make them competitively priced.

Hence my comment of 30-50-%

Dec month should have discount everywhere. Just find in FB.

You can't. Sofa you need to go there and try. Test the frame. Test the cushion/springs. Texture of the fabrics.
