its really hard to differentiate genuine and fake leather nowadays
there are too many types of leahter, nippon, klux leahter looks exactly like real leather, just beware and choose to deal with reliable shop
I bought a set of sofa from a company. And found out later that the set was not made of full genuine leather. I called the customer careline but the person-in-charge insisted that the sofa set came with genuine cow hide and she even challenged me to do material test at SIRIM.
Then I went to their factory in Kampung Baru Subang and the workers showed me the differences between genuine cow hide and some PU and fabric-based bonded leather. I also checked with the leather supplier in Balakong.
Then they agreed to take back the sofa and refund my money in full. That was few months ago. But their lorry never come to pick up the sofa.
I called another person-in-charge, Kevin again last month after waiting so long for the refund. He told me that they have decided to refabricate the set with full genuine cow hide. But until today, their lorry never come to collect. Calls / SMS / e-mail to the customer careline and company were not answered.
I think they are just buying time, hoping that I may forget the matter...
The "leather" can be torn easily.
Top is not genuine leather (used on my sofa), bottom is genuine leather
Some leather samples
