Hey guys, question, if I'm a sole proprietor, and I don't have any profit, instead got loss, still have to file in for 2015?
Also for sole proprietor the form to fill in is the e-B form for online?

In addition to earlier question, if made a loss, how to put in a negative figure? I tried putting in the 'pendapatan' field but the field doesn't accept negative figures?

Hey guys, just got this love letter from LHDN. Does it mean they will be coming over to check records and such? Declared under own business and made a loss this year so there was overpaid tax from last year's cukai ansuran. Attached thumbnail(s)

QUOTE(chiahau @ Aug 17 2016, 02:05 PM) Their officer is doing some sort of investigations. If they want to visit you or such, they will send a letter with the title "Lawatan Meja Audit" or something similar. And in the letter will have specific request for what documents you need to prepare. Oh sh*t! ok, thanks for the reply chiahau. So far haven't gotten the "Lawatan Meja Audit" yet.

Hey tax sifus, if for example I have a sole proprietor and have a freelance business where I use one of the room in my home as a workplace, what percentage of the utilities and rent of the house can I claim? Cannot be 100% right?

QUOTE(Sunny zombie @ Jul 23 2017, 03:05 PM) decide by ownself. Do you be able to justify when IRB audit? What industry you are in? if it is retail selling then this will not be able to justify. No lah, not retail, just use the room as an office only... QUOTE(klthor @ Jul 24 2017, 11:03 AM) general rule = 2/3. you still put 100% of it but have to add back 1/3 in tax comp...if you want to claim more than 2/3, you need to prepare all the documentations bla bla bla to argue with them. Thanks klthor, good rule of thumb there.

Hi guys, sorry if this has been asked before... if I use one of my rooms in my personal home for work, can I claim part of the rental and utilities for tax purposes?

QUOTE(MUM @ Aug 2 2021, 07:37 PM) while waiting for value added responses form real sifus on tax matters, i google and found this, hopefully this can help to provide some info "Consider claiming “home office” expenses, for example, electricity, telephone bills, quit rent and service charges of apartments. If the business owner pays rent for the working area, it can be deducted from the business income. This applies to rent that is paid to a spouse who owns the home but is not involved in the business." https://www.thestar.com.my/opinion/letters/...nd-partnershipsjust hope it is applicable to your situation Wah, your Google skills better than mine, I couldn't find much online. Thanks for this. Wish it had more details on the specifics of claiming. Do we need to draw up an official tenancy agreement? etc... I've been working from home even before the pandemic and have always claimed a portion of the rental as I use a room as a work studio. No problem over the years but then suddenly LHDN coming to korek this.

QUOTE(MUM @ Aug 3 2021, 05:09 PM) tricky question,.. if you did not have an agreement, how to justify the actual amount to to claim for your "business use"? if you have a rental agreement,...the "owner" must report that income to LHDN??.... anyway, how did it go?...i meant the koreh by LHDN? hope it is not serious... The korek-ing still ongoing. Actually it started as LHDN asking me to pay backlog tax for rental income from a condo unit I own. But they were not accounting for paying for loan interest. Had to submit several rounds of documents, then they started looking into other things. Latest one was this lah. Yeah, no rental agreement. But that's what I want to know too.

QUOTE(mini orchard @ Sep 27 2023, 09:01 PM) Any excess tax paid will be refunded auto. If your submission is long overdue, lhdn may be 'suspicious' and need more time and if necessary may even audit your old filings. Ah I see, thanks! Yeah, didn’t have time this year.. but kena audit old filings a few years ago already, hahaaaaa.. Tedious AF.
