Hi All

Just want to confirm the following

With effect from Y/A 2017, relief of up to RM1,000 is given for individual taxpayers who enroll their
children up to 6 years of age, in child care centres or kindergartens registered with the Department of
Social Welfare or the Ministry of Education. This new tax relief can be claimed by either parent of the
children.

means if i having 2 kids and i send them to Registered Daycare will be entitle for relief of 1k each for me and my wife or will only be able to enjoy by either party?

Can. but not sure whether should include GST which is 78x1.06=82.68 which is the actual amount u paid.

For the Unifi, I notice TM separate Internet and hypptv cost eg Total is rm139, but the bill stated Internet is RM109 adn RM30 for Hypptv. So I assume we only  can claim the RM109. sad.gif
*
Eh... my Unifi is RM199 less RM50 (discount) = RM149 wor so can claim 149/month as relief lo...

Btw nowdays like Maxis One Plan all bundle 1 ma... where got separate call and internet??? My plan is RM98 + RM48 + RM38 la... so can claim all on the relief to the max of RM2500 pa??? hmm.gif hmm.gif hmm.gif

hi, would like to ask if a Malaysia citizen working for a company in Malaysia but currently work remotely from overseas will be subjected to non-resident tax ?
*
whether you are a 'malaysia tax residence' or not u have to look into this

http://phl.hasil.gov.my/pdf/pdfam/PR_11_2017.pdf

in order to determine you are a malaysia tax residence or not and your tax rate will be different by scale or flat... it makes a whole lot different and if i remember correctly non tax residence do not entitle tax relief... please be careful on this...

i just checked my tax and found my pcb/e-lejar payment record by my company for jan 2022 missing. For feb 2022, the record is there.

i checked with my HR, company already paid on February. Anyone facing this problem?
*
u using calendar year view or year assessment view? cause your Jan 2021 salary PCB is due to be paid in 15th Feb 2021 thus it should be correct (Dec 2021 salary pcb will only due 15th Jan 2022)

Purchase of smartphone. My bad for not making it clear.
*
Purchase of smartphone from overseas, i belief alot of ppl order from Apple store and was bill by SG, thus as long as it is for own use or wife, kids use but not for business use than u should be safe, the only concern is the exchange rate, some ppl will use their credit card statement rate some will use BNM exchange rate or even the LHDN exchange rate, but as long as it is reasonable it should be fine...

Would lhdn knows if is for business use ?
*
this is a term by LHDN not by me, thus i cannot justify for you...

at lease the invoice (of purchase) is address to you, but not your company (eg enterprise name) than should be good...

means he only want to hear from you (or anyone else) saying that it is an increase for parents medical... story ends... not matter what you mentioned...

unless MUM is the DG than you can 'ask/make' him to say that include for parents, else you will need to refer to 2023 tax return explanatory note from LHDN (when the time comes)...

If you read the pelepasan cukai under the subsections, it gets even more confusing. For Malaysian spouse working in overseas.

if i'm not wrong the spouse who is working in overseas as long as the income more than 4k in that YA than the husband or wife cannot claim wife / husband relief...

Why pensioned public servants entitled to RM7k relief for life insurance premiums, while others only 3k? What is the logic behind this?
*
While you non-pensioned public servants can claim 4k for EPF (KWSP) and they cannot (as per 2022) if i'm not wrong... that explain??? smile.gif

Correct for YA2022 max is RM4k self contribution to epf. For nx year YA2023, self contribution expanded where quota for life insurance RM3k can also include self contribution during recent bajet 2023. Anyhow this will be clearer once the explanatory note is release hopefully year end.
*
Usually malaysia tax system is let you enjoy 1st and later audit you and penalty you...

means they will only release the explanatory note for YA2023 when it is 1st Mar 2024... u can see that there is nothing really publish regarding the 2023 budget (maybe haven't pass by parliament) but so far if i remember correctly even up to 31st Dec 2022 nothing really came out for YA2022 tax information... not even the tax rate for individual (even there is nothing change for YA2021 & YA2022) but should all these information be clean and clear so that we tax payer can plan accordingly instate to guessing here and there and pray hard hard to hope that the expenses are claimable...

If its a new relief that you are claiming for the 1st time, its highly likely will kena audit or asked to submit receipts/invoices.
After that if one consistently claims the same relief, its smooth sailing.
*
Agree with your claim, as i was audited 2 times, 1st was when i claim housing loan interest back in YA2010 and second time was when i claim child relief which is YA 2017... but both also no settlement letter given... i drop them requested documents via email and nothing came back...

Checking again regarding overseas income.

- Work in Malaysia
- Freelance
- Salary monthly via Paypal to Maybank Business Current Account

Is the fund received subject to tax? Because I saw there is one column for overseas income from 01.01.2022 to 30.06.2022 with three perfent (3%) tax and another 01.07.2022-31.12.2022 is Zero (0) tax rate. Any advice?
*

working in malaysia itself is ad income derived from malaysia thus it is taxable (i belief this is the correct defination by LHDN) no matter where and who pays you...

I have a queries on tax filing calculation:

On my previous working with foreign company for period of 6 months, working location in Malaysia however my salary is paid in US dollar, monthly salary is remitted directly to RHB Bank multi currency account.

If I want to declare this income in Malaysia Ringgit, how should I do the currency exchange from USD to MYR ?
should I do conversion based on the Bank Negara exchange rate on every particular salary month or I can use current exchange rate ? ( fyi there is still unconverted USD in my multi currency account)
*
If you really worry than this may help... it from LHDN...
