Hi, I'm new here although I've been working for 2 years but I only start to paying income tax this year due to having rent as side income... I've had a few questions and doubts on some of the terms and myth that have been passed around, I hope to get a clarification on them.

So here goes.
1.People who earn less than 3k per month/36K per year do not need to pay income tax is it true?
found the answer for this the actual amount is 3500 monthly income will not be tax for 2015.
Minimum taxable income range

These 2 questions still remains..
2.what does "norm and other tax EE" means in your payslip? My previous company collect it from me every month.
3.When company collect "norm and other tax EE" from you does it consider as the company paid the income tax for you?
*
Hi, if previously your company deduct your salary and "pay on behalf of you", i think you should get clarification from them asap.cause as u mentioned, u had not paid any tax before, if they deduct your salary, the LHDN should refund you the payment.

normally, company HR will deduct salary, and is called PCB, which means the advance payment for your tax. So, in the end of the day, u do not need to pay in lump sum. a more detail calculation based on your burden, and some exempted tax category will then need us either to pay extra, or get refund from LHDN.

I m speaking on my experience. hope it helps smile.gif

Wow, thanks that provide some insight, though.

Another question is it an obligation for companies to help to deduct your salary and "pay on behalf of you" for your income tax?

Hi, u may refer to above link for some Q&A....hope it helps you.
Errmm...regarding your questions, I m not sure..perhaps HR people mayb able to help you. But, i f i m not wrong, the HR "need" to do it...

QUOTE(audy @ Jan 22 2016, 08:16 PM)
I did a check on the PCB 2016 table for the tax deduction on my salary range and noticed that the amount is actually higher than my income tax amt for 2015. The difference is about RM100. How is this possible? I thought the tax amt is supposed to reduce with the Budget 2016.

FYI, every year I get tax refund from IRB so it is definitely not because my company under deduct the monthly tax.

Anyone know a possible explanation?

Could be due to some exempted category now finished? E.G, the broadband tax?

The above mentioned are taxable income which must be included.

Even car given by company for you to drive, you need to include it as BIK into your taxable income, there is a list of table how much BIK based on car value given, eg. 3.6k as BIK for car valued 75~100k, which will be added into your gross/chargeable income.

Same with mobile phone bill, if your company pay your mobile phone bill as benefit given to employee, you need to add back into your taxable income as BIK

Hi.. if blacklisted/bar from going out Malaysia due to unpaid income tax, what are the options to clear the blacklist?
Under table : dunno if it's trustworthy or not.
Paid the outstanding amount to govt : full or part of it is sufficient? the office they say can settle part of it. But dunno trustworthy or not too..
pls advise, thanks (asking for relative)
*
i think the best is to nego with LHDN. the fine is not that much if your relative is first timer.
you may try to ask on behalf. easier is to visit the branch.

QUOTE(mystvearn @ Jan 30 2016, 04:49 PM)
Hi,

Would like some advice on tax relief. I am a government servant. Currently still on EPF until they start to offer me the pension scheme. I had bought a desktop once, so that is RM3000 deducted. I personally do not like to bring lots of receipts to claim because:
1. Claim too much (max in each category), even though legal will result in officers being sent to scrutinise your dealings. Had few friends like that. Not nice ordeal, even though cleared.
2. Receipts fade away, even though you can scan, try telling that to the officers at that time, might not be so lucky.
3. I am not that good at maitaining tons of receipts for a 5 year period.

I will claim an odd item here and there, (like another pc or book subscription) though I would rather just they see my paycheck, and know that I'm deducting stuff monthly to get the tax rebate. Currently for tax rebate, I have:
1. Deposit monthly to Zakat (I figure I might as well give something locally rather than the gomen). About 60% of the rate of the PCB rate. Zakat is not-refundable, unlike income tax. That is why deposit is about 60%.
2. I have a wife and child (few months old) so I should get extra tax rebate.

What other methods of passive tax rebates which I could do so that when come to e-filling time, I don't spend too much time on stuff?

I am planning to open a SSPN-i account for my child, so I guess that is RM6k extra/year. I have a ASB account, though I am not sure if this is tax deductable.

Second, as my wife is also working, she has yet to setup any kind of tax rebate. What is best for her?

Thank you all for the advice.

Meaning only have 1 month to file it? Also, I know there are many complicated claims and things to fill up, but my life is not that complicated and nothing to claim. Can I skip everything and which are the compulsory parts I need to fill up? I just want to pay the tax without the stress of calculating this and that.
*
is this first time you do the tax filling?

actually is very easy..just follow the form and key in the your data..everything is auto calculated. you need not to take out your calculator pun nod.gif

No. That I already did in Jan. Now they are asking for 2015 earnings details for filing :-S
*
If there is no EA form, how are u going to declare ur 2015 income. you need to have summary and details for the salary submission. For the 4 days salary that lump into 2016, u may put it as tunggakan gaji 2015 later when u file for 2016 tax.

if you are worry for the confusion, LHDN normally opens counter to help people do E-filling, sometimes till night. You may check it out there.

1. received letter from LHDN about delay in tax refund
2. go LHDN office to submit all doc for audit
3. call LHDN on status bi weekly basis and they mention 'dah selesai', wait for another 2 week for refund
4. now is 2nd week, no refund yet but get another letter about i need to pay them 60++ WTH!!!

Based on the calculation, my PCB deduction was way higher than the 'tax dikenakan'.
Question is where is my extra PCB payment gone?
Plan to call them tmr morning, still thinking how to due with them.

you see all my resit show purchase in kl but i am living in jb.
so will income tax ask how come like that?
*
i dont think it is a main problem...

it could be...u purchase online and the bookstores located in KL, or u went to a book fair and the merchants were from KL. maybe, you are working in jb, but ur hometown is at KL, so occasionally go back visit and go to book shop.

so, finally i managed to go LHDN office to clarify again what when wrong. as usual, i couldn't get immediate answer... so they advice me that i make the payment first, if LHDN found the over-tax me, they will refund to me....

i fed up with this, just told my hr to proceed as requested by LHDN, they will deduct from my salary to pay LHDN for may and june....

now i got another question, i have done my e-fling more than 3 weeks, i suppose to get my tax refund within 3 weeks... but now nothing happened. no single cent and dollar from LHDN~~~
