For the tax relief "Perbelanjaan Perubatan Ibu Bapa", does it include medical supplies that we bought from pharmacies?

Hmmm... still not quite understand it though.

So, need doctor's support letter if purchase from pharmacies outside?

The amount you pay it’s the amount you claim for tax relief.

So rebates are not counted?

What you paid, what you claim.

If the rebates lower down your net pay, then based on the lower net paid amount.

I see... thanks for the clarification. My ISP give free 1 month rebate, too bad cannot claim. sad.gif

If I'm using mobile prepaid and subscribed to data plan, is it eligible for tax relief?

I have mentioned this. Prepaid or Postpaid doesn't matter.
You need an itemized bill/statement/invoice to show that you're paying for the High Speed Internet or Broadband regardless if it's wired (copper/fiber) or wireless (3G and above); not for the call/SMS/VAS.

Conclusion: Prepaid/Postpaid/Streamyx/UniFi/Fibre/3G/LTE/Broadband
*
So it is based on the payment? So if I made a payment on Jan 2017 for the Dec 2016 bill, is it counted for 2017 tax relief?

QUOTE(David83 @ Mar 23 2018, 10:04 AM)
Isn't the statement bill matter for postpaid?
Your statement date is December 2016 but you can pay it 6 months later by incurring outstanding till you receive red colour notice.

QUOTE(cherroy @ Mar 23 2018, 10:11 AM)
To be more precise,
the relief is based on the bill amount you need to pay, and the amount you have paid.

Bill + payment receipt = entitled relief.
*
So, the tax relief will be based on statement date. But when it comes to tax audit, we'll need to provide the payment receipt as a proof that the payment have been made to the statement used in the tax relief.

Asking on behalf of my expat colleague... can they claim for child tax relief even though their children are not staying in Malaysia? (my colleague is filing for resident tax as he stayed here for few years already)

7. Can I Get Any Tax Relief for My Family?
If you have family staying with you in Malaysia and you are considered a resident, i.e. stayed more than 182 days in a year, then you will be entitled to several tax exemptions.
