Can I claim RM2500 under general lifestyle, RM2500 under additional relief for electronics, and RM200 under additional relief for sports equipment?

QUOTE(ronnie @ Mar 26 2024, 09:32 PM)
The following expenses are allowed to be deducted from rental income and must be direct expenses wholly and exclusively incurred in the production of income:

cost of ordinary repairs to maintain the property in its existing state
insurance premium on fire/burglary
assessment tax and quit rent
mortgage interest on loans obtained
the rent collection fee and legal expenses incurred to enforce rent collection.
the expense incurred to renew the tenancy or to change the tenant.
the maintenance fee for strata properties
NOTE: In order to claim these exemptions, you must have a legal tenancy agreement for said rental property as well as the original receipts of the claimable expenses.

Initial expenses such as costs to obtain your first tenant including advertising costs, legal fees, stamp duties and real estate agent commission fees are not allowed for deduction. These expenses are necessary to create a source of rental income and are not incurred in the production of rental income.

Question
My understanding is, if salary above 3100 then need to start deduct PCB.
Calculation is based on around 2.8k net after 11% EPF deduction.

Say, if salary is 3500, i choose to deduct 50% using KSWP17A, then salary after EPF is 1750, like this still will get PCB?
*
yes... pcb 1st

Seeking second opinion

If I’m working overseas, I would declare my Malaysian income as zero (0). However, I still have insurance and lifestyle in Malaysia that could be used for tax relief.

Can I still declare these reliefs like this?
• Income: 0
• Tax reliefs: RM5,000

Will this cause any issues with LHDN? Or is it better to just declare everything as zero?
*
if work oversea... filed cp21... no need to file local tax anymore... but looks like you didn't...

also is tax relief... you are not getting 5k back...

I started working in Singapore in September 2024, so I would have stayed more than 180 days in Malaysia in 2024. Does that mean I’m considered a tax resident in Malaysia instead of Singapore?

As for tax reliefs, whether I fill them in or not doesn’t affect the tax amount since I’ll be paying RM 0 for 2024 anyway. But I’m still considering whether to submit the pelepasan (relief claims) or not.

jan - aug... tax residency Malaysia... but why income zero for 2024?

in Singapore, cash donation is given at 2.5 times deductables
*
donating 2-5k per year, not all tax deductable... asian tsunami 50k...

do as you can... 2.5x like sg would be nice...

If i did full medical checkup & AIA refunded me. Do i still declare in medical checkup relief?
*
in principal no... you pay medical insurance... not medical checkup

so you claim tax relief for the medical premium

however if its not covered 100%... you can clain the uncovered portions
