Thanks for the info, bro.

What if I had one employee years ago and filed the salaries under expenses in Form-B? I guess there's no reversing that right?
*
reversing means?

if never file form e before, then just let it be

i see, that made sense now, no wonder i didn't get my refund bank in last year, because the amount is below rm100, and added up this year refund, it's more than rm100. Thanks for the clarification

hi guys, i filed my tax back in February manually cause i have not set up e-filling yet. but until now, i have not received my tax refund yet. it's not much arnd RM30 tongue.gif

but i just want to know is it normal to take this long?
*
Normally if the refund amount is less than RM100, the IRB will just keep it and wait it to accumulate.

maybe just go and request the statement. the statement clearly show how much you can claim, just like insurance statement.

Heard from friend's car salesperson..if you purchase a new car within the last 2 years, your tax file is earmarked for Tax Audit by IRB... how true ?
*
You are referring for individual or company?

If individual, how IRB will know you bought new car?

If company, then the IRB will need to earmarked a lot of it

Hi, I would like to know how do you report income that is paid via Paypal in USD, which is then withdrawed to local bank account? Thanks!
*
This income is business income?
Keep track of your own record on the date of received of USD and date of conversion to MYR and teh respctive conversion date. then will have foreign exchange gain/loss

Hi all,

I just registered an enterprise recently for a very small online business.
My transactions with my suppliers are all done online.
Suppliers are not able to provide me invoice/receipt and I am not sure why.
Can I just use my bank statement as purchase record for tax submission?

Thank you!
*
You no need to submit any supporting document for tax submission

but you need to justify to IRB when there is tax audit

QUOTE(joeaverage @ Jun 15 2017, 01:25 PM)
Has anyone here received the refund but subsequently audited?

How will the fact that they want to audit you be informed?

I got my refund and was notified by email (and presumably snail mail too). But the address i had was an old address where i am not staying. Wondering if they were to audit me and i dont receive the letter. will they inform me via email?
*
Your are refering to tax audit on FORM C or FORM B?

This is now IRB practice, they will refund the tax paid in excess FIRST, THEN they will audit it. So the refund cheque will normally come with a letter mentioning that this refund is still subject to IRB tax audit and they may recover the refunded amount if there is any audit findings.

Hi, first time submitting income tax. I am a sole-prop, working as free-lance consultant.

1.When they say I have to prepare a business account, what does it mean? Must it be prepared by a professional accountant or can I do it myself? If so, how?

2. For petrol/parking tickets/TNG, how much can I claim for business use? is 2/3 for business use acceptable?

3. 9K relief for individuals and relative - Do we need to show proof?
*
business account - Profit and loss, balancce sheet, trial balance, sales ledger, purchase ledger

you able to prepare it? if not, just spend and let the professional do.

9K is self relief, no need proof.

yes, 2/3 is allowable for travelling, depend on nature of business.

QUOTE(Catherine85 @ Jun 7 2017, 09:45 AM)
Help needed.

I've been selected to audit my BE form for 3 consecutive years.

For YA2011, they wanted me to submit my SPA to support my interest claim.
For YA2012, they fined me because I claimed blood test under full body check.

Recently, for YA2013, they fined me because I claimed my tuition fees based on the receipts in which the amount break down include computer lab charges, student resources fee etc , which are not allowed to claim.

My concern is, should I write in an appeal letter for YA2014, YA2015 and YA2016 to resubmit my file, seeing that I claimed the tuition fee based on receipts but not based on the breakdown.

Please advise. Thank you.

P/S: I have no idea why I am a 'lucky' tax payer, being audited for 3 consecutive years.
*
this is their normal procedure, once check, will keep it monitor for few years till there are CLEAN....is there any penalty on your 2013 findings? or just need to repay the overdeclared tax relief.
Example overdeclared RM500
tax rate at 10%
then pay 50 only.

I am an insurance agent. First time declaring my income tax.
I am currently preparing to fill in my form B but I have a few questions.

1. Self employed as insurance agent, so I need to prepare a Profit & loss showing my income and expenses (petrol & phone) what else can be counted?

2. I paid all my petrol and phone bill with my dad's supplementary card, any issues with this practice?
Note: I did not keep the receipts from the petrol station

2. cannot claimed.

Guys - I mistakenly use the wrong KOD BAYARAN to pay my income tax.
I'm paying via instalment and the advised KOD BAYARAN is 159. Today only I mistakenly used 084 to pay my second instalment.

First instalment was 159 (correct code) and second instalment was 084 (incorrect code for instalment).

Is that a problem? If yes how can i resolve?

hi Sifu,
I have one question here.
My wife was studying in university in the first half year of 2017. (graduate in May'17)
She is now working too, but is it better to declare under my name, due to my salary is higher and will have to pay tax?
May I know can I get tax relief for the income tax? (education)
TQ.

QUOTE(cherroy @ Jun 29 2017, 02:52 PM)
In term of tax perspective, it doesn't care cryptocurrencies or whatever type of virtual coins, it just said income is subjected to tax (unless stated otherwise like tax exempted income eg dividend, bond interest etc).

You make a profit from an activity (in this case crytocurrencies) ----> income.

Whether the income is subjected to tax or not, then next step is to get clarification of type of income, whether it is tax exempted or not.

Since crytocurrencies income is not mentioned as tax exempted source in the tax ruling, then we need to look at whether it is a capital gain or trading income.

If one is making an income through trading of cryptocurrencies, then it is deemed as trading income.
And in tax ruling, trading income is subjected to tax, this is pretty clear.

But if one is buying cryptocurrencies to keep, later on, its value appreciated and make a profit through it then it may be deemed as capital gain, whereby capital gain is not subjected to tax.

Selling collectible card at a profit, especially if done frequently like shop selling ordinary goods (aka trading), actually it is subjected to tax.
There is never a tax ruling saying selling collectible cards, points or whatever at a profit is not taxable.  smile.gif

The grey area is between the trading and capital gain, not about cryptocurrencies or pokemon collectible is not subjected to tax as no tax ruling saying they are tax exempted.
