I'd like to start playing WoW with a friend of mine. We need to buy CDs and Time Card and would like to know Where malaysians are playing and which server has good ping for us from Malaysia.

So...

1) Where to buy the CDs and Time Card?
I'd like to know where to buy them near USJ area. Hopefully u guys can give me the Shop Name and Location as well as Phone Number so I can contact them and see if they have it in stock.

2) Which Server to play?
Maybe some of u guys can give me advice on which server is best for playing? With low latency and some guild support perhaps.

TQ in advance! Help me out here, I want to buy them ASAP! hehe.. And hope to see you guys in game

Well ping time really depends more on your streamyx connection (like which ip you got connected to or whether streamyx wants to behave that day) rather than the servers that you play in WoW.

I'm currently playing in a new Oceanic server called Aman'thul. I will transfer my priest (in epics) in once the server is open for transfers. I'm still looking for people who can raid at GMT+8 (Malaysia time) time. Although I don't have a guild established yet, but playing in an Oceanic server means you get to play with people who are mostly in our timezone, meaning MUCH easier to find party members for instances and not so lonely.

I can give both you and your friend 5g each to start off if you guys decided to come and play in Amanthul Horde side

Fyi Aman'thul is a PvE server.

i think the nearest shop can get wow starter and time card is SS15 Autosurf Cyber Cafe..they hav a lots of stock...

wat is the different between PvE or PvP server? Can move freely between both server with same character?

yes.. this is what I was going to ask myself.. What is the difference between PvP and PvE in WoW? both can do Horde_v_Alliance fight right? but how is it different?

I recommend Autosurf for game clients/top up cards. I play at home in USJ as well. All servers are in the US, so there wont be much of a diff latency wise. Logically, low pop servers (which are boring) will give u a slightly better ping than high pop ones in certain areas. However, you will need to have a 218.xxx.xxx ipaddress to play (300-500 ping). I dont even bother playing if im not on a 218.xxx connection. Fortunately, it is pretty easy in USJ to get a 218.xxx connection (most of the time i can get 218.xxx connection after 1 reconnect)

PS. Grow a pair and play on a PVP server !

You cannot move between servers with the same character be it PvP or PvE servers. You can however create a maximum of 50 characters and a maximum of 10 characters per server. You can also transfer your character from one server to another but it will cost you USD25 per transfer per character and you can only transfer again 6 months after your previous transfer. You can transfer your character from one PvE server to another but not to another PvP server. You can transfer your character from a PvP server to both PvE or PvP servers.

Yes both can do Horde Vs Relliance fight. But in a PvE server, the opposing faction can only attack you if you're flagged. You can choose to be flagged by typing /pvp, you get flagged if you attack an NPC of the opposing faction, you get flagged if you attacked a flagged player from the opposing faction, you get flagged automatically when you're in the opposing faction's cities, and you get flagged automatically when you're in the battlegrounds.

In a PvP server, you are flagged whenever you enter the opposing faction's territories or in a contested (neutral) zone. Hence, you can be ganked while questing in a contested zone and attacking mobs while in the enemies territories are not recommended (unless you're like 20 levels above them).

Also, you can create both Relliance and Horde characters in a PvE server but you can only create characters from one of the faction in a PvP server.

But playing is a PvP server is more fun, trust me on that. I tried a PvE server and it sucks if you can't go killing lowbies once in a while for fun. Sure, you do get ganked when leveling, but that is where the fun is all about! Teaches you to have patience when you happen to wipe in an end game instance as well..

seen: May I invite you to join Stormscale? We have a horde guild here that raids on Msian time, and all the players are mostly in the Asia region. The guild is super fun too, because I always troll their forums and make fun of them

If I could xfer my character over I'd do it in a second. However the fact that I have to reroll kinda make it less appealing and I think my boyfriend would KILL me if I suggested that we play on another server again. After convincing him to play WoW some 2+ months ago, I've got him to created characters on Cenarius, Gorgonnash (PvP), and Aman'thul because I couldn't make up my mind which servers I wanna move to.
We've decided to to settle down in Aman'thul and hopefully when it opens up for xfers we could get more GMT+8 players and make a raiding guild. Although I just wanna be a vet heh. NO MORE being an officer coz it sucks. Being a vet you get all the members sucking up to you AND if there's whining and such you can always ask them to "get in touch with an officer"

Reroll? What for? Just transfer again la or you just transfered and on the 6 month cooldown?

Haha I agree with the vet part, I'm a vet in my guild and whenever I ask my officers what are they doing, they'll reply 'farming dreamfoil/icecap/mountain silversage/ele fire for guild' XD Oh I love my rank..

Thanks for the help! Me and my buddy have an Official WoW account now! We got the game at Autosurf for RM128 (abit expensive I think but I'm desperate) each with 30days free game time. The time card was RM115 each.

We got settled in Aman'thul with the help of Seen (thanks for the startup fund). The ping is great for me, got around 300-400 latency.. and I'm using Streamyx.. which is great! Never actually thought I would play WoW on Official..

To people who is playing on Priv* Server.. know that u will never come close to Official.. the fun factor is as different as night and day.. that u just couldnt believe..

And I understand how you feel when you start official WoW coming from a private server I used to a GM for one once, and I kinda know the game mechanics inside out the feeling to start official WoW is a blast! Make sure you enjoy it ^^

Hey Mad, i have been playing WoW US for almost 1 and half years now and yes the difference is sky and earth but wait until u get to raiding MC (Molten Core) etc. All those 40 man instances. Thats where the problem starts. Lets put it this way, when u reach this stage and every obstical u over come is an achivement. Try it with 40 newbies and u will understand.

Yea the ppl there are very kind and helpful and thats the only reason i play the game. Not mainly for the items.

Yeah coz you didn't see the expression on his face when we were in PM. He kinda only stops doing it when he sees that I start to feel angry LOL.
But aye, he's a good player, almost in ANY game that he chooses to play in. Pro in DotA, CS, and RO and now WoW! Although I still win 8/10 duels MUAHAHAHAHAHA fear+felhunter FTW!!!

I think it really depends on your attitude and the attitude of the whole raid in general. I was in a guild where NOBODY has ever seen Ragnaros up close and we never had a full 40 raid (usually 35 or less). But everyone was awesome, we farm mats for potions and buffs. We were hardworking and most importantly we were patient even when we screwed up. Within 3 months time we progressed so fast that we were at top 5 of the Horde guilds on our server.

However, things start to get bad when we became l33t and everyone else wanted to join our guild (even those whom we've invited before but rejected us). There were loot problems, people start to get greedy and become vain, the bad attitudes start to show. To make it short, the guild broke, GM left, officers transfered, many have quit the game all together. We went from getting to Chrommagus in 3 months and clearing MC in less than 4 hrs to wiping at Geddon and not being able to down Sulfuron for MONTHS. But some of us core members hung in there and now the guild is going to BWL again. Sad to say, because I'm back in Msia now, I can't continue to raid with my guild

It's very much like real life, after surviving the bad times together, you kinda feel real close to some people and you know who your "true friends" are.

I've started to make some friends while playing for the last 4 days.. but it seems to me the level of interaction between players here are lower that I expected.. I am guessing there is alot of Asian players here.. hence the atmosphere..

I've been to UO and EQ before.. and it was more lively.. But in Aman'thul I saw people going about their business and not interact with each other.. even when I tried to interact with them

how old is Aman'thul server anyways? I expected to see alot more people around
