The use of PCB in the recent les pauls are a joke.
Copper traces in a pcb are thin and prone to corrosion. No guarantees they will last decades. I've got a less than 10 year old pedal that went bad because the copper trace on the pcb corroded, and luckily I managed to trace the signal path and jump it with a tinned copper wire. Traditional handwiring is the way to go and easy to trace/repair compared to PCBs. This post has been edited by RiddleMeThat: Jun 28 2015, 07:51 AM |

QUOTE(pj_guitarist @ Jun 26 2015, 10:26 PM) nola pretty happy with the tone from both guitars. the ibanez is sweet and mellow for my clean stuff and the schecter has emgs for my heavy needs. really happy with the schecter, it's funny because i've never really been satisfied with what i have. age changes people. |

I just scored a used rally GL-400 for about sg280 with duncan SH6 distortion mayhem set neck and bridge.
This damn thing is really heavy compared to my samick av3. Definitely no weight relief or chambered. After some cleaning/maintenance work and resetup action, it plays nice and holds in tune. Previous owner couldn't string for nuts, that's why it kept going out of tune. After cleaning the nut with graphite, bridge, and rewounding the string, now it holds tune. Also had to reseat the stoptail bushing with some hot glue, typical china guitar, since bushings are not pressed all the way into body and never glued. It was not flushed and slightly out of the body under string tension, but possibly also due to the softer version of 'mahogany'. Cleaned the fret board, and polished fret with autosol. Smooth as butter now and the frets.... damn frets... were like... underutilized.. It's like a new guitar, no pits/dings in any of the frets... Some minor finish crack due to wood moving. Overall, not bad. The pickups alone are worth it. |
