Marketing at it's finest. The copies have been doing this for decades.

How would gibson purists accept this?

u really should research abit more, but anyway the fat ass talk cock.
its obviously another cost cutting measure thats making its way higher up the chain.
and gibson has been doing that for ages too on the entry level models like LP studios, LP jr, explorers, flying Vs, SG specials, SG jr...

but what it also allows it makes tech work easier when it comes to re-fretting, also no need to follow gibson's more traditional flatter top frets...can have a nicer rounder crown like what most ppl prefer.

it happened with 14' models

most of the times the purists dont really give a damn because they buy the R series, which satisfied the whole vintage gibson vibe. after all with the exception of the trad, the standard gibson has never been that "pure' anyway.

if you want to get amazed by the lack of historical accuracy, this years gibsons wouuld give you some nice suprises

Oh yes.. I just read..

These f*cking idiots in Gibson are forcing their robot tuners (min-Etune/G-Force) on everyone.

They completely butchered their 2015 les paul standards.

They're going after the moronic ipad/iphone generation clueless kids who probably don't find playing electric guitar to be cool at all.

I've never seen a guitar company sunk so low with forced overpriced features on their customers.

These surface mount electronics on the tuners are not gonna last at all. Guaranteed. No resale value and no one is going to repair those electronics without necessary spare parts, 20-30 years down the road.

They've completely lost the plot. May even arrive at the stage where the fake les pauls actually is more worth the money than buying an original gibson les paul. *lol*

well as far as it goes, if we look back to some other questionable decisions gibson made like richlite on LPC, one would think the LPC line would be bust by now. yet its still surviving rather well, got news a few months back someone bought one from swee lee. it also seems that the comments on gibsons page do little to deter these buyers

to be fair to gibson, it does seem like their customers are shifting a bit and its not as if everyone buys a gibson new. most of the ones that are complaining would likely buy a used gibson than a new model, they are well informed to get bargains.

gibson are samsung.
fender are apple.

gibson think they are trying to revolutionalise the industry, while the hardcore gibson fans left when they got turned off when gibson started becoming samsung.
fender being apple, are just apple which in turn turns off samsung fans tongue.gif

i'm pretty sure that what gibson are doing now is gonna cause another boom in the used market, this time starting with the 80s and early 90s models.

i think gibson is more like apple, they like to put crazy innovations force everyone into it and call themselves a lifestyle brand. interestingly their site also similar, "style"

most people are predicting that la, but then the years from 80-14' are good years with some odd ones out 12'. so theres a lot of used gibsons to go around maybe in the near future if gibsons keep up this min e tune crap

i find it rather odd in a way, few months back i was at swee lee testing out a 14' standard and a LPC Lite, damn both guitars felt very PRS ish

I'm sure with this wider neck and so on, its going to be even more PRS ish

Actually I don't find the LPS14 plays like a PRS (PRS plays much better IMHO), but I don't find it too bad at all, just that I wouldn't pay more than 4-5k for it. It doesn't feel quite polished or inspiring. The mini etunes and the inlays doesn't bother me.

But I feel the same about Am Std Strat as well so that might be only me..

I don't own any gibsons but i have copies.

Even as someone who don't own one, I feel the wider neck will completely kill the les paul feel.

The other problem is the embedded hologram sticker behind the headstock, that is not removable because it is under the nitro finish.

That's so hideous, ugly, cheap, insulting to the brand and also to the late Les Paul.

Seriously, they need to kick out Henry, the ceo of Gibson. He is a complete sociopathic asswipe. He will ruin the company sooner or later.

Apparently Gibson is one of the worst company to work for in US, according to Glassdoor. Read the reviews there, it's entertaining. biggrin.gif

The best les pauls for the money isn't made by gibson.

I think the Agile AL-3200 is decent considering the neck through design and better higher fret access.

Too bad no stores in Malaysia or Singapore carry that model.

It is what a new model from gibson should've been though.

the LP feel has kinda changed over the years, you can get different feels from a studio all the way up to a TM aged.

its kinda hard to bash a company considering that none of us has seen a 15 yet, or buy many gibsons. i mean i dont see myself buying any in the foreseeable future (next thing you knwo NGD: R8) laugh.gif

credit to henry tho, as much as people hate him he did bring gibson back from the grave.

for the money, is not something one mentions when such a brand comes up. to be fair any brand for that matter cept maybe godin. likewise if you want a neck through modern outtake of the LP shape its kinda unwise to look at gibsons.

theres no company that makes LP like a gibson other than heritage, its not to say the others are bad, but they are just different. comparing them would be like comparing apples to bananas

The Japanese can make better Les Pauls in the 80s for lesser money.
