fries, do you have 980Ti numbers as well? Fury is very slow even to a GTX 980 on 1080p
I screwed up in my GTX 980 Ti bench and the card left my lab already.

The thing I hate about GTA V is that the settings keep CHANGING.

You can set it to whatever you want but once the game detects a card of different specs, it will adjust to the setting that works best with the card.

In my case, the V-sync was enabled and I didn't realize so the speed was capped.

From my observation - the GTX 980 Ti wins hands down on GTA V results. Take what you have on GTX 980 and add 5% to 10%.

QUOTE(area61 @ Jun 28 2015, 09:23 PM)
for the bolded part, was it for the Fury review or GTX 980Ti?
The weird thing is that the 8GB R9 390X was pretty much tied in GTA v to GTX 980 ~ based on guru3d's number  hmm.gif
Bolded part was for the GTX 980 Ti because you were asking for it. biggrin.gif

Yes, R9 390X 8GB scores quite well.

http://www.goldfries.com/hardware-reviews/...ic-card-review/

I'll be updating it with 4K numbers soon too, I had quite some hiccup getting the details.

The R9 390X 8GB scores when it comes to games that pushes VRAM.

Interesting card that's for sure. Great price to performance value considering it's priced around RM 1.8k++.

Something like that la.

There are 5 passes. You just average up the 5 passes will do.

QUOTE(ALeUNe @ Jun 30 2015, 12:31 AM)
goldfries, did you have the same problem too?
*
Exactly the same thing, just that I probably went through more shit.

I lost many hours of sleep and benchmark / article time.

3 hours ah? I spent some 6 hours at least.

My rig works with R9 295X2 / R9 270X / R7 250 / R9 280X / GTX 980 / GTX 980 Ti / GTX 970.

1st card. R9 390X. Screen goes crazy. Manage to benchmark with Beta 15.5. Stress test OK, Windows is where things go shitty. I didn't use the driver from the CD. 4K didn't work, black screen.

2nd Card. R9 390. Black screen. WTH.

OK fine. Not working. Changed CPU / MOBO / PSU / Drive / Install fresh and whatever - nope, not working.

Fine, got the R9 Fury X. Installed driver from CD because whatever on the AMD site doesn't work. OK done. Works flawlessly.

Tried the R9 390X now - Oh ok it works. Finally I get to bench it on 4K with no glitches.

Now tried R9 390 - same shit. Arggh. Downgrade drivers / Upgrade drivers, nope didn't work.

R7 370. Absolutely no problem.

Final thoughts - AMD released quite some shitty stuff, I don't even know how to write about it. I didn't do any video like what he did because I am not a good presenter and I thought it could be a faulty card.

My last encounter was just 2 hours ago, tried the R9 390 - black screen.

Decided to install drivers from the box, booted with my R7 250. Installed the drivers and switched card.

This time the card reaches Windows 8.1 but the screen goes black once drivers loaded.

EDIT: Sapphire and ASUS are confirmed to use the latest VBIOS for the 'rebranded' 390x and 390.
Yeah right, I lost so much time because of the R9 390X and R9 390.

Fury X and R7 370 no issues, straight forward working all the way. No hiccups.

1. One can't DDU when can't even reach BIOS.

2. I've personally tried, even the drivers from the CD didn't work. Apa lagi mau?

I had a blackscreen issue too, turns out the problem is my PSU, changed to seasonic and never blackscreened anymore.
I'm running FSP Aurum S 700, Cooler Master V700 and Cooler Master V850. smile.gif All didn't work. For sure not PSU issue because that's the first thing I tried.

Why do you need to change all that?

Till date I haven't the need to touch any of those settings.

By default the AMD graphic output is more vibrant to Intel system's output (eg onboard).

I suspect the problem might be batch related.

Even without DDU you can uninstall all AMD drivers.

And drivers from the box doesn't necessarily work.

Take for example, R9 380 that I tested from Sapphire. I had all drivers removed so on boot it shows Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.

Install driver from CD, reboot and that's it. Once driver loads it's black screen.

EDITED : sorry I just realize I replied to you earlier. kekeke.

For my case it wasn't GPU problem because the GPU is in perfect working condition.

What I did for my friend was (I had to take the rig back!) to put an R7 250 into the system, uninstall the driver, install my old 14.xx drivers that confirm works with R9 280X.

Check the sentences with bold red line underneath

You are doing benchmark, make sure the image quality is nearly the same, else the comparison is null and void.

Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benchmark_(computing)
Many of those stuff are beyond us. Even if it's slightly different that doesn't mean it'll affect the benchmark a lot.

Furthermore each driver update may have changes, even if the scores are high now it could end up being higher later.

Usually those image comparison done by people with a lot of free time. I've not come by any other review sites that actually do this type of image comparison simply because

1. not practical.
2. it doesn't happen often
3. if it happens, there's no way to check whether it actually affects the framerates.
4. people only care about framerates.

Because a nice 980Ti aftermarket can be had for 2.9k...
It's like 70% faster lol!
Not to mention brand new.
Also Fury is 2.4-2.5k brand new and faster.
I've personally tested the 980Ti and 980, it's not 70% faster that's for sure as

And Fury X alone the performance was in consistent, fluctuating from lower than 980 to higher than 980 Ti.

Fury X at RM 2899 alone was difficult to recommend, let alone Fury.
