Correction. Light guns including official ones don't work on flat screen CRT tvs, LCDs and plasmas as they don't reflect light that well. If you play light gun games, use the normal old junk tv for best results. That's the warning stated on the box of Namco's light gun but it's in Japanese leh.

Agree with sunauto.
As for threadstarter, I don't think it's Sony's fault (me defending Sony??) they didn't design the PS3 to be compatible out of the box with lightguns. That's a practical decision - to NOT design a console around ONE game. Even the wiimote is engineered to be comfortable with many game genres.
As it is, games that require proprietary controllers are a VERY niche market - we look at examples such as Steel Battalion, the Taiko no Tatsujin series and even Guitar Hero. In Japan, they have entire arcades dedicated to games with huge controllers (or car cockpits) - thereby negating the need to have a humongous controller/carseat/cockpit/cannon in your home.
I'd suggest that if these controller issues are a big deal with you to actually invest in an arcade cabinet. More satisfaction that way.

(1) It is not possible to have 2 screen with one console, regardless of which console. U hafta buy 2 consoles to do it. (2) For those time-crisis and light guns games, PS2 has better support. (3) For playing old games, the XBOX is heaven sent. It can play virtually any old games under the sun. MAME, Sega Megadrive, SNES. N64, PSX (haven't try this as it is very troublesome - need ROM of game CD image..blah..blah blah), Gameboy Advance etc etc. With the joystick and gamepad, it is the perfect machine to relive arcade experience using MAME.

My point stands - currently there is no proper support for Arcade Lightgun games outside of the PS2, and even then you'll be depending a lot on third-party accessories that may or may not work (pedals).

How does it work in XBOX? Load MAME DVD first, then pop in another game disc? Or use harddisk to run everything like pc?
