May want to buy a console eg. PS2 or XBOX.

But not sure which matches my demands best :-

1) play 2 player games (eg. racing, war games) with 2 tvs, each view separate tv - is that possible? how?

2) has Time Crisis 1, 2 and 3 game or that cute carnival gun game in the arcade center shooting ducks and balloons (can't remember name)? Has the proper accesories for plasma tv or lcd projector screen eg. gun with kickback (like arcade) and step pedal

3) has all the streetfighter series eg. SF2, SF3, SF zero, SF Alpha, SF vs Xmen, Capcom vs Marvel, etc..? Has the proper tough joystick with 6 buttons?

4) has good arcade action games like the classics eg. donkey kong, raiden, 1942/1943, etc..

Many thanks.

How does i-link work?

Does PSX mean PS1?

So, after all these years, there isn't a proper gun with kickback? I'm dissapointed really and to think they are coming out with PS3 tech. And no pedal for Time crisis? cry.gif

Does PSX Guncon work with PS2?

Can Guncon work on LCD screen (not LCD tv) and plasma?

So far, feedback doesn't seem too encouraging .... these games are the main reason I'm considering getting consoles. yawn.gif

i know the ps2 can do this, but im pretty sure the xbox can,too...(need input from xbox owners)
on the ps2,IINM the console is connected using i-Link(IINM)
the PSX had this,too...but i think only 1 game used it rclxub.gif  doh.gif
point blank?
both consoles can be hooked up to the plasma/projector.
guncon with kickback isnt available for either console,AFAIK.
the only guncon available for the ps2(i dont recall xbox having a guncon) is GunCon2,and it has NO KICKBACK function sad.gif
instead,it has a dpad(located at the back of the gun) and extra buttons on the side.
The GunCon for the psx, however, has the kickback function.
im not sure of the unofficial guns, but my old GunCon needs an extra power adapter to enable the kickback.
cool,but abit troublesome sometimes...too many wires sweat.gif

btw,the GC2 also has NO step pedal rclxub.gif
i think Time Crisis allows you to use the secondary port of the ps2 console to enable the second controller to act as a step pedal(press any button with your feet)
i think both have their joysticks..
as for the fighting games, some of them i think are PSX titles.. sweat.gif

anyway,i think a SF compilation was released a few weeks ago or something..
use emulators..
i heard the xbox can play them, but not sure of the ps2

Have checked out few shops in Sg Wang and 1 Utama. Dissapointing really. None of them know if there is such a gun that really works on plasma tv. One even tried to 'con' me to get the 100Hz gun (with kickback), which he think should work, for about RM98. And the biggest bummer is no pedal for Time Crisis series.

Overall, got lots of quotes .... for small PS2 and even big PS2 (claim to be new - another con I guess).... ranging from RM480 to RM699, comes with controllers (original or not, subjective) and free games (some throw in memory card). Seems only can get small PS2 in the market... and if wans longer lasting, should install USB fan (which cost up to RM100 with stand)

Even trying to consider a proper steering wheel (with kickback) which can be locked to table ends (not stuck using rubber plugs) was a challenge. Different shops have different designs, price ranging up to RM240. Some claimed that only Microsoft wheel can match my demands.

Well, my purchase is definitely on hold until who knows when.

Will PS3 be able to cater to my demands then? If it can't, to hell with its HD specs then imo.

Two PS2 hooked together to play on 2 screens? Hmm... sounds challenging. I'm already having a hard time linking my notebook and pc with router. Technology is a chore. blush.gif

What's "Silent Scope game/controller"? Does that mean for plasma/lcd displays? blink.gif

XBOX has better support for emulators? Oh oh. When I hear of 'emulator', I think back at the hours I spent figuring out emulating on my pc. Is it easy on XBOX.... can buy off the shelf or do I have to surf download try? cry.gif

The I-link is just a firewire cable that plugs into both PS2s (only the FAT PS2 IINM). You link the two together, connect each PS2 to a separate TV and voila, you can play link games.

Bear in mind not many games actually support this as compared to the old Xbox. In THAT console the feature is called System Link and requires a short network cable to connect the two consoles.

Same for those old games you're talking about. The Xbox has better support for emulators.

If you're talking about Gunshooting games, the PS2/xbox isn't the best platform for either. It's a whole different architecture which is why you won't see a Silent Scope game/controller.

That's sad I know. Perhaps SONY thinks less of the gun games and not bothered to upgrade their accesories for HD displays.

there is no guns currently for plasma, projectors and flat screen tvs (preferred tv with curves!). I've done quite a research on light guns, and the result was rather dissapointing.

Not sure who is right or wrong. Everyone in PJ/KL claims no gun can play on plasma/lcd.

But when googling, can find so many possible guns. Who is right then?

Considering it's a gun, don't think it will be easy ordering thru internet and passing customs here.

Must have a shop that carry this beauties..... c'mon vendors, buck up.

How does it work in XBOX? Load MAME DVD first, then pop in another game disc? Or use harddisk to run everything like pc?

(3) For playing old games, the XBOX is heaven sent. It can play virtually any old games under the sun. MAME, Sega Megadrive, SNES. N64, PSX (haven't try this as it is very troublesome - need ROM of game CD image..blah..blah blah), Gameboy Advance etc etc.

With the joystick and gamepad, it is the perfect machine to relive arcade experience using MAME. smile.gif
