this used to be below rm2k after discount.
too bad for GST and currency gone mad.
i liked the cream version of it.

its using a miyota 9100 movement which is good, but with the complications in it got more chances of something failing.
i seriously doubt got any modifications done to it, even the rotor looks standard plain miyota.

I like the beige brown leather strap too. But I am looking for a black leather strap watch for office wear.

I am not too farmiliar with this brand as they claim that it is made in Germany.

How does this watch compared to more mainstream brands like Citizen, Seiko, Tissot and etc?

how to compare?
in terms of movement, one step above tissot and seikos.
build quality, thats obviously a more dressy watch...so needless to say dont expect diver like ruggedness.

its probably assembled in germany as obviously the movement is japanese...so all likelyhood the rest of the parts from china, kinda like some seikos 'made in japan' but in actuality most of the parts from china / malaysia.

miyota 9xxx series comparable to eta 2892, one step above eta2824.

so if u want to buy for design, u got not much choice anyway.

Is that the price the sales assistant told you? If you buy from malaysia shop directly, you get 20% discount. At singapore I forgot it was 10% or 15% discount.

Zeppelin is sister brand with Junkers. I bought one for my ex last year for MYR 800. Zeppelin flat line lady. Just a quartz though. Attached Image

Then last month I bought myself the sister brand Junkers. Junkers Tante Ju 52 automatic.
Attached Image
Got it for rm1.7k after conversion. Now available at malaysia for rm1.6k. Quite happy with it, I guess. Wanted to get steinhart but the size of steinhart is too big and stowa is too expensive.

I dont know the movement is better than avg. like Tissot ETA 2824 or Seiko 4L or 6R or 8L?
I own a 9015 and its +5sec, wobbly rotor like ETA 7750 and kinda loud.
movement release in 2010 or 2011 so far good reviews.

size wise its design to be a replacement for ETA 2892, it is better than 2824 I don't know.
I personally wouldn't pay more than us$400 for a Miyota 9XXX watch.

I didnt ask the sales assistant but i just checked from the website about 2.4k++. It didnt state any discount on the website.

Junkers looks nice too and quite similiar to Zep. But I still prefer the design on the dials from Zep. Your Junkers for RM1.7k. Is it an automatic movement? Looks awesome. This is the first time I am considering brands that are not mainstream? Watches from Red Army Watches are not so popular in Msia?

At the moment, I have a Seiko 5, 2 Fossil watches, a DW, a G Shock and other fashion watches. Each of those watches dont cost me more than RM600.

Try check with the sales assistant first? At least you will have a clearer idea of the actual money that you might be paying. Red army watches malaysia offers 20% discount on all watches in their store. Not sure if that includes straps or accessories though.

Junkers and zeppelin got their distinctive style. For some designs, I prefer the zeppelin while for some others I prefer the junkers. Ultimately I chose the junkers for my second watch because I prefer that type of font. It's a japanese movement miyota 9015. Lower than the one on your zeppelin, if I am not mistaken.

About their popularity, I'm not too sure as I'm not that familiar with watches in general but I kinda like that type of watch design. I stumbled upon them as I was window shopping in 1utama.

This my second watch. My first one is a citizen eco drive that have been following me for around 8 years although the age is probably around 15 years as it was sitting on someone's desk for ages before my aunt couldn't stand watching it collect dust and gave it to me. It's pretty worn down because I don't know much about watch initially and didn't know how to care for it. It's now in the watch shop pending glass replacement and maintenance service.

The junkers is considered as the first watch that I bought for myself. For that price, I could spend on a watch with eta movement but I didn't cause I couldn't find another with a design that I like and could fit on my small wrist. Maybe in future I'll manage to find one that I like and have an eta movement. The stowa flieger will be the next target.

Will go to the physical store to check. Zeppelin has a very vintage classic feel to their pieces. Maybe I shouldn't pay too much attention to the movement but focus on the design itself.

I have a Seiko 5 which is an automatic steel strap watch. I own it for about 7 to 8 years as well. How to know whether it needs to be sent for maintenance or what not?

How often should an automatic piece be sent for maintenance? How much it usually cost? Should I just go to any watch store?

Recently I have been exposed to higher end watches....well at least it seems so to me.

Ingersoll & theorama skeleton watches are on my list but no $$$ hahaha

Is amazon a good place to buy watches? Sometimes after converting to MYR. Amazon seems cheapper than those retailers in msia.

Are the pieces legit which is my concern. LOL

That was the reason that attracted the zeppelin watch to me too. Vintage classy feel.

I lost my citizen watch steel link pin and there are many scratches on the glass. So I sent in to fix those. Might as well do the servicing.

How often do you need to send in? That one need ask sifu here lo. It's my first time bringing the watch to a shop haha

On la, I got him a normal Sea-Gull M187 only.. Just people in Malaysia see Sea-Gull in HT is sold at 10-15k, they now think all Sea-Gull is that price range biggrin.gif

Which is why GS is a bit of a hard sell in Malaysia to those who want to tell people they are wearing 20-30k on their wrist.

I wrote wrongly, was supposed to say that you were looking for the Tangente over the Antea as you clarified.

Just google bauhaus design, you can find a few brands carrying their own "interpretation" of it.

For example, Kent Wang also have his own take on it:

Rodina? brows.gif

If Sea-Gull wanna make money, I think it is easier to do what their other Chinese counterparts do, either buy or partner with some recognisable fashion house and make watches carrying their name.

It's higher than Rodina / Sea-Gulls, but it is still perched in that category.

Don't think their designs is very inspiring, though it is a very affordable alternative to the likes of Nomos.

GS movement is one of the best. Even swiss is getting the tech from SII.

Not forgetting also GS quartz series. Yes I know is a quartz which typically lower status compare to automatics. But +-10 seconds a year with 50 years service interval. Just love it.

Best is to tell ur wife is juz a seiko. Not tat expensive. So can buy more without further nagging.

I've wanted a Big Pilot for sometime now, but it's difficult to pull the trigger due to the hefty price tag.
Therefore, I am looking for alternative brands such as archimende.

Any other sterile brands that offer the same design like Big Pilot ? I don't mind about the movement

I've wanted a Big Pilot for sometime now, but it's difficult to pull the trigger due to the hefty price tag.
Therefore, I am looking for alternative brands such as archimende.

Any other sterile brands that offer the same design like Big Pilot ? I don't mind about the movement

dropped by mitsui outlet park yesterday, not as great as JPO...but at least its got way way way less flies...

got solar time outlet and citizen outlet...both offering 50% max off for orients and certain citizens.
nothing really of note at citizen cept for some promaster ana digi divers priced around rm2k+++ after discount.

also citizen excalibur after 40% off at rm600 or so...too bad the bracelet version not available...and the staff working there are hopelessly clueless.
user posted image

orient 'planet orient' rm539 i think.

orient aviator rm291.

then some orient open heart tonneau models...apart from those nothing really of note with model nicknames i can recall there.

That's one part of the world I have yet been there.

Not sure about discontinuation, but so far I've found a couple of places carrying it. Most likely a JDM.

The Subaru tie-up is the limited and "discontinued" version, but even that can get in eBay if one don't mind seconds.

For the price point, I'll accept some of the little, and I do mean little, shortcomings la. It certainly will be utilised far more at that price point than the Omega that I somehow can only bring to use in special occasions (I know right?!).

Well, I'll do subtle reds, knowing B&R and Hublots are just around the corner if I need something loud tongue.gif

that one secondary.
but they want to copy the vintage, do it all the way la...not pick and choose like the lack of end links.

this one is just laziness, take a off the shelf black bay...put on black bezel and remove end links.

oh wait, i see got new hands...but its still a meh piece.

Would like to hear the thoughts of watch aficionados on this...

Which seems a better option?

#1 - I have a really old watch, given to me by my grandfather... a Titoni Cosmo King, maybe from the 50s. Asked around and it'll cost me about ~RM500 for service and repair to bring it back to life.

#2 - Spend the ~RM500 on a Seiko SKX007.

With all my watches, I intend to keep it for life and pass it on to my children... ya ya, it's not a Patek but I'm not in the Patek league.

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

the better option depends on what u like to wear.
grandfather or not, if u dont have any attachment or liking to the piece...why bother?
and if u do, then go service it...but usually vintage watches may require yearly maintenance.

Which one would you wear? No point servicing a piece if you don't have any attachment to it and vice versa, no point buying a 007 if it's not going to be in use.

servicing a Titoni Cosmo King should not cost you RM500. Probably less than RM200, unless the watch is damaged and require parts replacement.

it got two pulls. 1st pull to adjust date, 2nd pull to adjust dials. now whenever i pull it, it straight goes to dial adjust. normally it will stop at first pull with a click.

sometimes the stem just only need to be removed and reinserted back to engage all functions.

most mechanical watch movements have a detent to release the stem.

zzz...milan classic are still a joke.
checked one omega speedy yesterday, hands all got signs of corrosion, and no mention of it anywhere or shown in their pics.
then they also say that watch no warranty offered while their website clearly states "All watches sold with one-year warranty. "

I'm sure Everdying can give you a nice discount for his Glashütte tongue.gif

If new, I think some of the Longines Heritage hovers around that price and certainly catches my eye, Junghans (?) or their cheaper cousins Zeppelin / Junkers which goes at most maybe 3k?

If pre-owned, you might be able to get the likes of Omega?

Just wondering with the weaker RM and GST.. will it be cheaper to purchase watch at oversea?

Anyone has experience of purchase more than 10k watch when travel? As i know, if u bringing more than 10k for travelling, you are required to report to custom? Is it correct?

No. Coach isn't really a watch maker and it's really only an average luxury brand. I'd rather get a seiko than a coach...

Tissot Day Date is very reasonable.

U might also be able to get a basic Tagheuer for that price range.

https://shop-us.tagheuer.com/en/watches?sku=WAZ211A.BA0875

It's a bit over your price range, but it's auto day date and pretty good looking. you can probably bargain down at a retailer tbh.

This one should be just within your price range

https://shop-us.tagheuer.com/en/watches?sku=WAZ2113.BA0875

They are both metal bracelets so if you get a leather one it could be possibly cheaper

but here its obvious hamilton used a 2892 to have a thinner movement, and maybe they removed the second hand so can make the case alittle bit more thinner since its only 10mm.

Yea, thus I don't really mind the lack for second hand. In fact, I think the only thing I've been particular about thus far is case backs. That's what stopping me from throwing my money at the SARB017 now.

I'll be getting the blue SOMÈS or one of the Classics most likely. The main thing holding me back from the SOMÈS is that bulging case near the lug area and I'm not a big fan of busy faces so the last two is out of the question. However, I saw the WZ0151DK in seiya and that is probably the first time I liked a busy face.

It was for the exclusivity, but in honesty no particular reasons really.

For now, the idea is to grab a few 1-2k ish watches as part of my collection since I have a shocking lack of those in my budding collection. So while looking for those, the stars are pretty hard to ignore at at that price price point.

I don't think there are many reliable options available but I'm open to options if you have any. I've seen some Omega vintage DeVille's around that price point but I'm not comfortable in dealing with vintages.

for rm2k and below, imo only vintage omega worth collecting are the dynamics from late 60s.
those usually havent yet been bastardised by replacement dials / hands etc, unlike seamasters from the same period, yet also has the same 552 / 565 movement found in the sm300.

Which is why I'm trying to avoid vintage for now until I am willing to spend more time judging them. Negating the movement, the looks of your 60's De Ville can be pretty much filled by the likes of Hamilton Intramatics and co.

The dynamics are a bit too funky for my liking tongue.gif

if you are departing via Amsterdam, check out my blog on how to claim VAT on your watch cos ADs will usually charge first and reimburse later
my AD was able to let me pay cash for my watch and manually authorized my credit card for the VAT amount
after mailing them back the stamped VAT form at the customs at the airport, they waived the VAT

Is leather with easy claps buckle. CIMB credit card enjoy additional 10%

Market is shortage of 3570 or 3573. Retail new stock is with big case + accessories. This can't get RM11,000

Most of the shops I saw is just only 12-20% off retail price.

Any recommendation under RM1K? preferably to have date display. Possible to have Swiss watch for this budget? sad.gif

I am new to watch. I fall for automatic/Mechanical watch.
Any recommendation under RM1K? preferably to have date display. Possible to have Swiss watch for this budget? sad.gif

Fossil looks appealing but I doubt and heard on its movement quality right?

Swiss only micro brands but 1k still hard unless sale, jap possible. Micro brands on miyota 9xxx good check kickstarter
- steinhart
- Christopher ward
- http://www.ocean7watchco.com/store/clearance/
- uhr.info

( those on page 1 post 1) or shop grey

Fossils all using China movement , they have a new Swiss line but out of your budget

Guys,

I am thinking to get a rado watch. Anyone knows where can I get most discount like above 20%?

Most of the shops I saw is just only 12-20% off retail price.

Buy more or ask full cash payments may get you little more

Pulled the trigger a couple of months ago as my work travels frequently to neighbor country that is one hour behind us. A great excuse to get a watch with GMT movement.

The custom took 2000++ baht of tax and duty from this watch.

At last, the Steinhart Ocean GMT is here. Kinda regret getting them in ceramic insert, i thought i could handle the shine.

Bracelet is comfortable on the wrist with no weird rattling, watch quality is amazing. The action and feel of the crown is superb.

Terrible lume, my SKX009 make the Steinhart looked like a cheap watch with bad lume.

This watch is not for you if you are chasing Rolex-ish case design, size, and date magnify.

I thought it's supposed to be a homage to Rolex? Not exactly the same yes but the similarities are there.

Brought my Certina with ETA 2824-2 movement to Swatch Service Centre last Friday to be regulated as it was 24 secs fast a day. Was told that they need 1 week to get it fixed. Called today and still not done, they need another 3 days.

Is it so hard just to regulate a watch?

they get a lot of entry level models in for repairs etc, so urs probably in a long line.
afaik, usually regulate then they observe for a few days on the power reserve etc.

recently realize the ticking sound of my watch were a little loud, ( on wrist during office working). Putting it to my ear... it is seems to have in-consistant sound.... like
tik tik tik, tik tok tik..... type.

It is a sign of wear and should be send to inspection/servicing?

Yeah, I think sometimes when you are busy, you just don't notice it ticking. But when the environment happens to be silent, and once you hear your watch ticking, you automatically focus on the sound sometimes.

you could sell of the Steinhart now haha, or hold it till the stock habis at Steinhart. GMT models are highly sought after cause of their limited quantity.
The squale one is really tempting. at USD710 and they are offering 60USD off and some goodies if there is 60 orders.

Guys, was thinking to get an automatic movement, been searching the net for some time and noted that the Tissot Visodate Heritage is quite a beautiful piece, would there be any other watches that may look something like this? This is prices at RM1.5k to RM1.7k depending on where you get it.

Im looking for something where you get a see through back case where you can appreciate the movement if you know what i mean =)

Aiming for a decent dress watch when this year's tax return comes in. A Calatrava seems nice.

Keen in picking up a Nomos Tangomat, hand itchy. tongue.gif

Any other suggestions from sifu-sifu for watches of this price range?
Looking for a general all-occasion dress watch that is minimalist in design (read: Bauhaus) with automatic movement.

Personally don't really like the Tissot logo in the Visodate, doesn't really match up with the clean dial. my opinion la bro haha.

Other than that I think it's a great watch.

Making a quick buck. Wonder how much they got it for.
But seriously the deep discounts associated with the brand has hurt it tremendously. Back then saw their masterpiece retrograde going for < US$2000. Like over 80% off list price.

Good product, bad strategy.

My budget around $3.5k USD expandable.

Spoke to few angmoh colleagues who're into watches and they strongly suggest that I try manual movement.
Maybe I would consider then.

Where is unker sniper? Wondering if it's wise to shop for Nomos in Taiwan since they have official distributors there.

The new ML pieces are quite interesting, although it is sad to see the brand in general barely making it. It would help if they had a very strong brand ambassador.

No offers for the Hulk so far. Not sure if I should keep or sell. Sadly, still not connecting with me.

never take a liking to their divers. their Pontos range, and the chrono...as well as their masterpiece..its yummy.

The Pontos Chrono..fonts on the date wheel don't jive with the overall watch. Still..if you want a bargain...their masterpiece with in-house..with deep discounts then really great.

if U like watches, U wouldn't mind winding it daily. It will only take like what 15-30secs if U do it daily.
U base in Taiwan?

if U don't mind ordering online get a nice German Dornblueth & Sohn 99.0, nomos lack some of the German watch characteristics

some characteristics we can see from ALS or GO etc.
- 3/4 plate
- blue screws
- swan neck
- decorated balance cock
- Glashütte stripes

14060 hardly "old" or "classic" in my book. Acrylic crystal, that's old. Ok, then again maybe I'm old.

Personally prefer steel over ceramic. No real reason, just thinking of the cheaper replacement cost. Also prefer green lume over blue. Had the fleeting idea of finding a 5513 in my birth year, but expensive, and mostly risky transactions outside of MY.

Eh, got page on FB to sell watches ka? MY punya, or all over the world?

Fesbuk apa pun ada. Search le. As for finding 5513..its possible buying outside MY, but you need to buy the buyer, not the watch. My birth year DJ was from HK, the buying experience was great, seller even threw in additional links.

And damnit, despite DJ jubilee looking damn uncle...it is super comfortable loh..light weight too, and less sweaty/sticky versus oyster style bracelets.

I am a sweaty mofo (ok, I admit you didn't need to know that bahaha), so jubilee or oyster also sure kena drown wan. Agree about buying the seller; need to do a loooooot of read up, reference checks. I did the same when I bought my pam online and it turned out great. He even sent me some handmade straps he was trying to make for himself, some months after I'd taken delivery of his watch, hahah. But... it is a lot of effort.

Last time under my consideration for searching my first swiss auto, it's a nice one but the Tissot wording doesn't seem right compare to the overall design, at the end i pick up a certina. Mido & Hamilton was also a good choice if budget can raise up a bit higher.

It has to be the case, GST in Singapore started copying from Europe in 1994! Even newer Thailand GST works the same way.

I like the brown strap, it softens the overall look. Always preferred brown over black, be it straps, shoes and other leather accessories.

Edox starting prices a little higher than Tissot, Not really entry level but due to poor sales prices are low production volume also low maybe like Louis Erard own by Gevril group.
not well marketed thus the steep discount you can find in grey much like ML. They makes good watches using ETA movement much like your Tissot or any watches under swatch group

Apologies but did anyone bought from Steinhart before?

I purchased through them recently, waited a couple of days before receiving an email of my order number and after that it went silent.

If they have not sent a shipping # I believe it has not been shipped out yet, true?

Coz mine just recently died on me due to condensation in the glass which may have killed the watch internals.

Long dead american brand resurrected by Hong Kong people to capitalize (rather forcibly imo) on the whole railroad story.

vs

100 year old Swiss brand that got sold to what would later become part of the Swatch group. Oris was later bought out by its management as they don't like being pigeonholed into making only entry watches.

Not much difference to me both using SW movements today
Both maybe sourcing case and stuff from Far East

Both spend $$ on designing cases

History and who run it not that important

Today many rich Chinese company buying out USA and European business, they don't run the day to day operations, just collect profits

The watches are advertised as "boutique grade" - fakes which are of such high quality, even dealers have trouble telling them apart from the real thing.

The replicas of luxury timepieces from the likes of Audemars Piguet, Panerai and Rolex come in official-looking boxes, complete with warranty cards and papers.

And there is a booming trade in them online.

The Sunday Times has found at least four Facebook pages through which these counterfeits are being sold for between $500 and $1,500, depending on the model.

One such page, which has more than 23,000 likes, claims to have been in business for five years.

Interested buyers SMS or send a WhatsApp message to a mobile phone number included on the page to set up a deal. When this reporter posed as a prospective buyer looking for a Panerai 441 watch, which retails for more than $16,000, he was quoted $1,050.

The seller even promised a "lifetime mechanism warranty" for what was labelled a "1:1 replica".

He said: "You can enter Panerai boutique without them knowing it is (a) replica." He added that the watches were sourced from a factory in China, and claimed to be the "direct distributor" of its wares.

After payment is made via bank transfer, watches would be shipped direct from the factory to customers. There would be no need for a face-to-face meeting between the customer and him, he added. And if the watch breaks down, he has "lots of watch repair contacts".

These illegal sellers appear to be doing a thriving business. The Facebook pages are filled with reviews and pictures from customers who say the watches are "worth the price" and "look damn good".

Watch dealers here say such high quality replicas started appearing about one to two years ago.

Mr William Leong, vice-president of the Singapore Clock and Watch Trade Association, said this was when counterfeit factories started using the same machinery used by established watch-makers.

A separate website that sourced such fakes from a Chinese factory claims that "original watches were fully dissected and used as samples for replication". According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the counterfeit goods business is worth over US$250 billion (S$342 billion). About a tenth of fake goods seized are watches and jewellery.

Mr Alfred Png, who runs Png Watch Dealer, said while replicas have tell-tale signs that set them apart from genuine ones, these often boil down to tiny details - for instance the lustre on a screw, or slight difference in the dial colour.

A similar point was made by Mr Leong, who said the material used to make the fakes is inferior. Mr Png, who has been in the business for 38 years, said: "The finishing is generally a little bit more coarse, or the leather will be a little rough."

But sometimes it is hard to tell.

Mr Png said he knew a dealer who bought a watch supposedly from a Swiss manufacturer but which turned out to be a counterfeit. "It looked so real, only when he opened the case and looked at the engine, did he know it was a fake."

It is a crime to sell counterfeit goods. Anyone found guilty of doing so may be fined up to $100,000, jailed for up to five years, or both.

And it is not just sellers who could be guilty. Criminal lawyer Josephus Tan said: "Buying a fake item and using it is itself an infringement."

He spent $2,000 on 7 replicas

Peter wears a different watch every day. The bank executive makes about $2,500 a month, but owns three Panerais, three Rolexes, and an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Safari - his favourite.

A genuine version of this ivory-coloured timepiece would cost $34,000, but Peter, who did not want to be identified by his full name, bought his replica online for only $500. "Depending on what I wear, I choose a watch to fit," said the 27-year-old.

He has spent about $2,000 on his seven fakes, which he has been buying since the start of this year. The genuine versions would have cost him about $123,000. He is part of the growing market here driving demand for counterfeit timepieces.

"I'm a watch lover, but it's just not financially feasible to buy genuine watches unless you are super rich," he said.

"You can buy one genuine (Audemars Piguet), but if you like another few more colours, how can you buy another, or two more? You can buy a car with that money."

He believes that most people who bought replicas generally also owned genuine watches. He said he had two authentic Rolexes of his own. And he also does not hide the fact that some of his watches are fakes. "If anyone asks, I'll tell them my watches are replicas," he said.

But not all buyers of counterfeits are like him.

Some second-hand watch dealers here say that each month, they encounter between one and five customers who try and pass off counterfeit watches as the real deal.

"Usually they start off by telling you their watch was a gift from their father or grandfather. And that's when alarm bells will start ringing," said Mr Alvin Lye, who runs watch dealer Monster Time.

He added that in some cases, sellers might get the watch as a gift, thinking it is the real thing, only to find out it was a cheap fake when they try and sell it. To protect themselves, dealers here are taking no chances.

"Nowadays, if the watch doesn't come with a box or guarantee card, I'm more wary," said Mr Alfred Png of Png Watch Dealer.

But even that was no guarantee - some fake watches these days also come with boxes and guarantee cards, he added.

The Singapore Clock and Watch Trade Association (SCWTA) said that since watches started getting sold online, it has been increasingly difficult to police the situation.

"Some of these sellers are not selling cheap, too, it's a form of cheating. (Sometimes) buyers also unknowingly buy counterfeits," said Mr William Leong, SCWTA's vice-president.

He added that previously, buyers had to travel outside of Singapore to get good-quality counterfeits, but the Internet has made the situation a "free-for-all".

think those fake pams apply more to the unitas / eta models.
a WIS with enough experience will be able to tell a fake apart anyway.
those ppl who want to pose, well more power to them if they want to buy fakes...

btw, the father / grandfather gift story heard a few times here also whistling.gif

think those fake pams apply more to the unitas / eta models.
a WIS with enough experience will be able to tell a fake apart anyway.
those ppl who want to pose, well more power to them if they want to buy fakes...

btw, the father / grandfather  gift story heard a few times here also  whistling.gif

safer to buy models with display case backs, else have to bring for verification... troublesome if bought overseas doh.gif

Nowadays many cheap china watches sold online that look like expensive watches but cost under RM100... any advice for this? I'm not really into watch so I wouldn't spend on watch but would buy a nice-looking cheap watch just for occasions.

Thanks!

Beautiful Oris, very handsome piece. Wear in good health. Which reminds me of an old thirst to get a SM300. An itch I never scratched. Hmm...

Don't wear this one very often; find that it is a bit small for my wrist? I mean, just a fraction too small.

No lah, you have not been away. I got this quite some time back, but never strapped it on because I don't quite like the way it looks on me. Only getting a little wrist time, since I took them out of the safe for some pics; putting them up for sale. Same as this piece:

I think its time for me to get a proper Sub. Maybe sometime next year, if all goes well. 14060 4-liner is the one I want. No more funky colours.

why do u have a pair of triple dates? i got phobia with that movement with the day/month dials.

actually MM300 nothing great la, just got historical ties...thats about it.
sits weird on wrist with bracelet, kinda waste putting it on rubber...plus its more than 200g after sizing...monster weight.

Deswai. SM300 is the one I would get first, heheh.

Pair of triple dates... no specific reason. It was back in a time when I was not into watches yet; bought my first luxury watch and liked it so much, I got it in a different colour. Yes, from back in my sneaker collecting days, did I get this silly idea.

From the pic, the lugs also 90% the width of your wrist. That's why I say just nice. Plus you don't have hairy arms like Ang moh. I seen subs hidden by a thick Ang moh bush. Making it appear tiny.

Ahh.. a very good thing, to be able to hide the GMT hand behind the main hand. I feel it is a bit too busy otherwise.

You see, I picked GMT over Sub because I wanted to be different. Then Hulk over base Sub because I wanted to be different. I had no idea what I wanted. I actually don't want to be different!! For everything else, there is iPhone laugh.gif

Thank you in advance for the suggestion. I am looking for watch which have the below characteristics (I'm sorry if my terminology is wrong as I'm not a watch pro) :-

1. Automatic/self-wind
2. skeleton/ Partially skeleton
3. size : less than 45mm
4. Moon/star/sun phase
5. Pre-owned/new time piece.
6. bracelet : Preferably leather / steel is alright too.
7. budget : 2k-5k

Hope veteran here can help me out for my 1st luxury time piece. smile.gif smile.gif

So you already bought a Louis Erard that meet all your target criteria. And now you want to... find another, exactly the same? Buy another Louis Erard, bud.

Just arrived, Laureus LE Ingenieur (blue dial). Which one should I keep?

3228 Ingy
Pros - In-house movement, display caseback, dial texture is more interesting
Cons - Thick case, non-magnetic so it strays from the original purpose of the Ingy line

Laureus Ingy
Pros - Thinner case hence more comfortable, anti-magnetic (true to heritage), beautiful blue dial
Cons - Sellita based movement

Buy already but asking? Trolling much?

What's a good watch for a lady. Must be auto, retarded to spend so much on quartz.

What she really wants is a Rolex DJ with diamonds in rose gold. I'm not a baller, cannot afford. And frankly speaking it is retarded to buy watches with diamond! The premium on the diamond you can easily get higher carats outside.

Tag Carrera looks simple, but I don't think worth the asking price.

Oris diver looks pretty good, ceramic bezel. But she reckons it too thick. I still prefer the Divers with the wavy dial
user posted image

Ball diver is also very solid. The crown guard quite nice.

She saw the Rado Diastar in gold and went AHHHHH..put it on and went EWWWWW

She finds that Longines look very pedestrian/common.

Any more ideas? < RM10k please.

Tough choice indeed.
But I more lean towards 3228. Nice dial, display inhouse movement.
Non-magnetic no biggie.

That's like asking a person to choose between a Rolex Sub with in house movement but without oyster case, or a Rolex sub with Tudor movement with oyster case.

Both retarded choices. I wonder why IWC wanna make an Ingenieur without anti-magnetic case.

Don't really want to buy a Hong Kong watch masquerading as Swiss with a Swiss price tag. I think the Fireman Lady Classic looks even more like the poor woman's DJ. But the Ohio Lady got cyclops. Hmm.

Jason new or pre-owned? Looks like swaying towards larger watches; else I'd say go for the Constellation. Else, I do like the 27mm Aquaracer with a silver dial. Or buy a Seiko first, then save a bit more for the Rolex/JLC. Or the Ballon Bleu if she wants to be less common.

I like the Aquaracer with MOP. But that only comes in Quartz. It's my worst case scenario choice. Always felt the ladies tag Aquaracer looked alright.

Rolex in gold have to save a lot more.

Pre owned also can.

Her wrist quite small. She hijacked my Carrera Chrono 41mm. The watch and lugs itself bigger than her wrist d.

I agree with what Snob says about Ingenieur
http://ca.askmen.com/style/watch_snob/iwc-ingenieur.html

QUOTE
IWC has not really stayed true to the spirit of the Ingenieur, whose entire raison d'etre was an absurdly high level of resistance to magnetic fields. IWC largely abandoned this most essential aspect of the watch until very recently, which of course meant the Ingenieur was reduced to the status of just another design family rather than one with any functional identity — an unwise choice for both IWC in general, and for the Ingenieur specifically; it is rather as if Rolex decided to produce a number of different Milgauss models, none of them antimagnetic.
I don't actually know for certain whether or not the most recent Ingenieurs — the ones with anti-magnetic shielding — use an ETA movement or not, but I suspect not (Sellita is the most likely suspect). "Worth it" is of course a personal decision

But I feel it is not worth it because of the Sellita inside. And as he says, its a personal decision.

Dump both and get the Royal Oak. Or the Nautilus.

She don't want two-tone. Want gold all the way baby.
Actually she don't wear watches, I just want to get her one so I can take my Carrera back. Every time I say she don't wear watches she'll wear the Carrera and show me. And 2 days later the watch stops ticking again.

Been a while since I posted here.

No new watches to speak of, but I just put an order for a tropic rubber strap from Squinky (but not the original $200-300 one la sweat.gif)

Been eyeing one since seeing my ex-boss sport one on his 5513.

Now the hard part - does it go on the Sub, Speedy or SM300? biggrin.gif

If its the only watch you're going to have for a while, playing the roles of both dress and casual, the Longines Hydroconquest. But I see that you book already. rclxms.gif No bad choice among the 3, maybe except the Ball if you don't know its "history" and facts about it.
