Hi. Can quote me price of EELS-3D Rev 2 board only. No installation. Circuit fired due to fuse burned.

I just had Joven service repair done on the Model 880P due to no power or function . Service person replaced the power board EELS- 3D Rev 2. This is my first and last use of Joven Instant water heaters because of this failure. I checked bad board fuse and most components are good. If anyone has the circuitry, i would like to determine the root cause of failure.
All other instant water heaters in my home still good after 25 years, but im curious why this Joven model failed so fast

I found the transistor BC546B faulty and replaced. It is working good now. Hopefully it is reliable. My experience says Joven is not reliable compared to Panasonic based on my experience.

I feel u bro. I just had my 4 years+ β€œnew” Joven 830i repair too, same circuit board problem. I got another 8 years+ Joven but that old model didn’t give me any problem yet. it seem the quality of the circuit board component is reduce to low cost production compare to others. Bloody greedy Joven!

That's the magnet located inside the pipe just after the water valve in the Joven heater

It activates a reed switch on the circuit board to switch on the water pump/heater..

If there is low pressure or as the magnet ages it loses its ability to magnetise (activate) the reed switch which in turn won't switch on the Joven built in water pump/heater..

that magnet has to be replaced  and it'll work as normal..

It's a common fault..

Hi my old water heater having the same. Symptom. How did you remove the magnetic sensor since my magnetic sensor seems embedded in the pipe?

Get a bolt with same diameter as the hole and thread the bolt in then you can pull out the stopper

Then the magnet will drop out. Just make sure you put the new magnet in the same polarity or the magnetic switch won't work

After you replace the new magnet just use the same bolt to push in the stopper and unscrew

What's the polarity of the magnet? Which side to face down?

Just pay attention when the magnet drops and replace same orientation.

Worse case scenario if it doesn't work, just reorientate the magnet and test again.

Otherwise the fault is something else or just have to get a new water heater 😁😁😁😁

If due to thermal cut out the fix is easy also. Can also cause the β€œno power” symptom.

Fix is just open the unit and press a button on the thermostat. But make sure heater no electric or else will have an electrifying experience.

A bolt a threaded rod which has a six sided head as opposed to a screw which is also a threaded rod but with groove on head. biggrin.gif

The defective magnet is in the plastic pipe while the magnetic sensor on the circuit board above that pipe.

So first unscrew the top circuit board before you can remove the plastic pipe piece holding the magnet.

Use a screw big enough to thread into the stopper in the plastic pipe then the magnet will fall out.

Just watch the correct position of the magnet because the new one needs to go in the same way.

Would like to get help to replace the small white sensor. Watched the video, but could not get it out from the water inlet pipe.

What is the best method to get it out?
