Ebert is a populist. He's one the last critics you can call an elitist.

Quickfire is right, nevermind that Ebert is a little senile nowadays.

My worst fears were confirmed. This travesty is such an insult to all that has come before. T3 is a masterpiece compared to this stinking pile of poo. For all his good intentions, McG is as talentless as his name is short. Bale was poor and everyone else was as dull and bland as the color palette of this movie. OK, so Sam Worthington manages to show flashes of talent but its a pity it had to be in this cesspool. In fact, I'm beginning to think that the infamous Bale tirade was just a marketing ploy to thrust this non-movie into the public eye. And they want to make a f***ing trilogy out of this? God help us all.

2 or 3 at most, and I like T3 but they should have stopped at the second.

But it does has to be of quality, and fun. Star Trek had lots of convenient coincidences and illogical moments to if you think about it, but it doesn't prevent it from being a good movie.

I did say some movies not all movies. But Its good that you brought up Dark Knight because when you think of how well the Batman has reinvented itself, i cant help but feel it was a miss opportunity for the T series to do the same. As previous posters mentioned, the casting are bland, dialogs are forgetful and the story is kinda meh. Sure the CGI is great but thats pretty much all it has going for it. Take that away and you left with nothing.

Nothing to do with accepting illogical ideas, all sci fi and fantasy based films are imaginative fictions. Its how those ideas are presented and fit into the film that matters to most adult audience. I ldo ike some of the T4 scenes and concepts, but their executions and sequence are just cheesy and even downright cheap. Thats what puts me off. It doesnt have to sophisticated like Dark Knight, it just has to be polished and well thought out.

Batman needed to be reinvented to be commercially viable, after what happened with Batman and Robin. The Terminator films were just fine as they are, yes even T3.

Or when you just have taste. But, and this is not directed to anyone in particular, if you can find enjoyment in a piss poor film, then by all means enjoy it.

QUOTE(ulwan25 @ Jun 2 2009, 05:49 PM)
same here. i pay my respect to the terminator franchise by watching T4, not T3. t3's full of jokes and humor and should not be seen in near times cause it made the terminator looked lame and dumb. T4? phew, one of the most dead serious film in 09' i can tell. although it utilize a bad edit and does not have characteristic background, but i still loved it and definitely will watch it for the 3rd time.

what's the most important thing? a good replacement for T3. that's all. majority of t-fans were pissed because of that hillarious film. it made arnold looked dumb, it made the tx look beauty and dumb at the same time.
*
T3 may have gotten goofy at times but there was always tension, not something that can be said about this drab overly serious installment.

worst? nothing is worst than the disastrous T3 lar...
the lame female T-X, and the lame JC which looks like a junkie, and the lame list goes on doh.gif
watching T3 once in the cinema is enough for me, and I'll never watch it again in any format

Well, Salvation has a lame Bale, a lame story, lame direction, lame action, lame plot, lame pacing, lame cinematography, lame attempts to reference past movies and worst of all, lame TERMINATORS that DIE EASILY! wink.gif It doesn't feel like a Terminator movie, and it doesn't feel like the Machine wars sequences in the previous movies either. Where is that claustrophobic sense? That dread of the machines encroaching upon humanity's bastions and having nowhere to run?
