have few in mind at the moment,

canon 24-105mm L
Tamron VC 17-50mm F2.8
Sigma OS 17-50 F2.8

or any other that I could have missed out ?

I am using canon 100d. Which one is better for general purpose? I am into street photography, family events etc

the 24-105mm L is more suitable for FF, if use that lens on APSC, the widest angle will be narrowed down quite a lot.

but if the 105 is your main concern instead of the 24, then no problem.

the 24-105 would probably be the worst choice among the 3. it's big, it's meant for FF and it's super heavy compared to the 100D.

I never use the sigma before but based on my experience with the tamron, the focusing is pretty useless in lowlight although it is f2.8.

If you are not looking for f2.8, something like the 18-55 stm or 18-135 stm would fit pretty well.

There's another option if you really need a wide aperture, the sigma 18-35mm f1.8. Again, super heavy compared to 100D but optics wise it is one of the best lens for APSC.

+1 for sigma 18-35 , great dx lens but too short for my liking.. I would advise 17-55 2.8 if u have some budget to spend.. Great glass!! Longer reach.. Cover any length you need for a mid range glass..
