QUOTE(mckevin @ Oct 5 2009, 11:02 AM) Im going to bangkok on a family trip during next year's chinese new year which is on 15th to 18th of february. Is there any serviced apartment or suite which can fit 8 of us ? The maximum budget for one night is rm500. Ive been looking high and low and i cant find any of them suits us. Maybe i missed some of them? by the way, we are looking on those hotel which is situated at Sukhumvit. Thanks lots.. Hi Check rates from tis site http://www.hotelthailand.com/Or if u all dun need to under one apartment u may check out this hotel Watana Mansion @ 700 baht per nite with basic bbf. 700 baht x 4 unit = 2800 baht. Watana is convenient though not at Sukhumvit. There's MRTA that takes u there. And this is near JJ market Or you can check out Ascot Bangkok. |

QUOTE(rourou @ Oct 8 2009, 06:11 PM) thanks! will put that under KIV then if got good recommendation Gold orchid is quite a distance and even to BTS station of Mo chit which is exactly the JJ marketmy brother's colleague suggested us to stay at All Seasons cause their office have got corporate rate at 1200 thai baht. I've checked the hotel webiste and it's address is 375 Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, Phayathai, Bangkok 10400. It also says the fllowing Strategically located 20 minutes from Bangkok International Airport and 25 minutes from the city, Gold Orchid Bangkok is on the Vibhavadi Rangsit Expressway close to the Sutthisan Junction. Before DTAC building towards the Bangkok International Airport. but sounds like it's far from town area right? from the map it looks like it's near the trains and chatuchak, but maps can be deceiving. what do you everyone else thinks? I can recommend you Watana Mansion which I stay regularly. Do check them out. Or Citin. |

Quite expensive. But that depends which hotel they have quoted u. I think u can trvl to BKK by yrself. Don't need a guide. Go around with a map.Read abt places that you wanna gosAdded on October 12, 2009, 10:06 pm QUOTE(rourou @ Oct 12 2009, 10:39 AM) thanks. since i'm bringing my parents, would like to stay somewhere nicer... watana doesn't seem to have very good reviews. Citin seems to be much nicer. have you stayed there before? easily accessible? I'm only travelling on March 2010, do you think it's still too early to book? Well, is too early for me if you are going in March. Nvr stayed Citin but heard a lot which is not bad.can you please list down the itinerary for your tours? Am thinking of booking tours for my parents as well. thanks much. The other place I would recommend is to stay at Palazzo Hotel Bangkok. near Rachadapisek. Check out thier website. You dun need a tour from Malaysia. Just go there and there's always travel desk at the hotel. There's MRTA station near - 5 min walk. Then night market which operate till wee hours and good food around tat area. You can the MRTA (huay Kwang) direct to JJ market too. and one station after Huay Kwang is Thai Cultural MRTA station which u will find Robinson, Carrefour & Jaya Jusco. And there you too you could do nite shopping Huay Kwang too can take you to China town direct (hua Lamphong). And near the station, there's this free shuttle service that takes you to Chinatown area instead of walking there. Go at nite have a good meal. Well travelling around in BKK is very ez if there'e BTS or MRTA nearby. This post has been edited by DrezzUp: Oct 12 2009, 10:06 PM |

If u r one of the lucky ppl, can u tell me when is your traveling dates coz I want to check whether still got cheap tickets on that dates. thanks. ahhh...all lousy timing for the free tickets. Worst still they charge RM5 per person/per way for using credit/debit card for payment - convenience fee. Daylight robbery. No sense fees I guess. Is the bank who provide us the credit & not AA. |

I never buy Go Insure from AA cos no so comprehensive compare to buying directly from AIA Tvl assist. AA have no change to Multi Purpose. I find it not so flexible as well. Good example, if I tvl KL - BKK ( I have to get insurance from AA) and from BKK I tvl to Chiang Rai again I have to buy then if tvl back to KL via chiang Mai again I have to buy. If I buy direct from insurance company I only pay once for my entire trip for d same period |

I have once experienced that my baggage din arrive to destination for 7 days.It only came to me one day before my return to KL.All my clothes were inside. I have to buy clothes every day. It is not AA flight but MAS. Besides claiming from MAS who reluctantly paid me by kg but a small amount and asked to sign a letter that I will not sue them in d near future. I have claimed from my Tvl insurance. all receipts of purchased must be kept and also the baggage delay report that I made. |

U can read them on d counter or I think in their taxiits my 1st time in bangkok so haha i dont know much and would like to hear your experiences so my question is what kind of transport should i take from the airport to the hotel im afraid there are some taxis that dont use the meter and would charge pretty high because we are tourist anything to avoid? because i know in hong kong i took the express train my hotel would be frasers suite located at 55 South Sathorn Road, Tungmahamek, Sathorn, Bangkok 10120 hehe thank you everyone! much appreciated! As u walk to the arrival hall there r many ppl will be calling u if u want Limo (they r legal). If u can afford, u may book them and of course they r more expensive than d metre taxi |

QUOTE(Hico @ Dec 6 2009, 10:31 PM) i will be going to bkk end of the month and my agent arrange us to liv in dynasty hotel. hows that hotel?? according to him, its not in the city area so not really jam and surrounding for night market too..or can take a teksi to city at night.. may i know how much is the teksi rate from dynasty to china town? plan to try the seafood there dunno how much but d nearest MRTA station to yr htl is Thailand cultural centre. U may take directly down to Hua Lam phong and get down to take d free shuttle to d chinatown.Added on December 8, 2009, 9:14 pm QUOTE(vermins @ Dec 8 2009, 09:55 PM) Are you going in a group or alone? If its just like 1 or 2 of you, I would suggest taking the express bus. Provided there isn't too much luggage. The bus costs 150 baht per person and you don't have to pay for the toll on the highway. Also, provided your hotel is within the routes. You should be able to google up the routes it takes. Yup many liars around the grand palace. Just ignore them. From Sathorn area, u shud be able to find yr BTS nearest to you.( Ihave stayed ard that area) Take to Saphan taksin then catch a public ferry taxi (not tourist ferry which will cost u a BOMB) then head to Tha Chang Wang Luang Pier. It is a short walk from the pier to the entrance to The Grand Palace public entranceIf however you wanna take a taxi, you can just say you want to go on meter (just say 'meter' and they will know). If not, then just refuse and take another cab. Or you could go to one of the taxi counters too. Getting to the city should cost about 300baht not included toll fees which will be about 80 baht in total for 2 tolls. Wish I could help more, but not too familiar with that hotel or location. Things to avoid.. just becareful when there are some people who try to be really helpful and tell you alternate routes or places you can go to. eg. they say the tourist spot is closed, but might actually be open and they just want to lead you somewhere else which will cost a bomb. Theres actually a lotta these 'con' guys that mislead you. Better to actually get to the location and see if its closed or not. For ways to getting to places that isn't reachable by the train (mrt (subway) or BTS(sky train)... I'd suggest asking the hotel on how to get there. A quick example on those con/misleading guys. Was going to check out the grand palace and otw there, this dude said it was closed, so we decided to go to a temple nearby which is only reachable by taking a ferry across. He overheard and was overly helpful and told us of a pier with a boat to take us there, even got a tuk tuk for us. Btw, the grand palace closes at like 3pm, and we were there are at around noon. Once we got to the pier, it turned out that it would cost quite a bomb to use the service of their boat, which included a tour around the area. We refused.. and managed to find our way to the public ferry which was only like 5 baht, I think? to get across. Added on December 8, 2009, 9:01 pmHere are the locations the buses stop at. http://www.bangkokairportonline.com/node/55 When you get on the bus, there will be someone asking where you would like to go. So you don't have to specifically say the stops they listed. As long as its a place that is along the route, they will stop the bus there for you to get off. The stall is right in the middle of the entrance of the lane, which has many other food stalls along it. Very nice, and lot of thai ppl queuing up to eat too! Further behind got uncle do the seafood dishes. They have crabs! ![]() And steamed fish (most thais prefer deep fried, so its rare to find steam fish other than in chinatown) ![]() And also, do wear long pants. That place is crawling with MOSQUITOES!!!! They had to use the coil and put under out table, and even then, got stung so many times liao. Crab seem to be very popular. Try their Thai chili crab or just baked crab. Oyster seems cheap there too. And one may even try the raw shrimp (yea ...sashimi style) dip with SUPER HOT & SPICY & SOUR THAI CHILI SAUCE)...damn good if they make well. the shrimp taste very sweet & it must be a real fresh one otherwise u may get diarrhea. |
