will be staying on khaosan road. i've not managed to finish reading this thread, would like some advise if possible. would be my first time to bkk

trip is mainly for shopping, food and some sight-seeing.
what i've managed to gather from this thread so far:
SHOPPINGMalls (that are worth going): Siam Paragon (just for a look-see, since we've never been), MBK Mall, Central World, Platinum Mall.
CAN SKIP SIAM PARAGON.PLATINUM CLOSED BY 6-7PM.IT WILL TAKE U WHOLEDAY D.SO GO EARLY. PRATUNAM WILL OSO SAMEMarkets: Chatuchak (Sat & Sun), Pratunam Market (wholesale), Suan Lum Night Bazaar.
TOURIST PLACES- Erawan Shrine (4-faced Buddha, Chidlom Station).YES ,IN FRONT OF HYATT HOTEL.IF WANT TO PRAY JUST GET THE INCENSE FROM INSIDE SELLER 20 - 30 BAHT
- Floating Market (full-packaged tour, 150km out of Bangkok)
- Chao Phraya River (Head to ferry terminal, buy passes for visitor boat taxi.)
NO NEED TO TAKE VISITOR/TOURIST BOAT, JUST TAKE THE PUBLIC BOAT.HOP IN AS LONG AS THEY GO TO GRAND PALACE OR WAT PO. WAT ARUN IS JUST ACROSS BUT U NEED TO TAKE ANOTHER BOAT JUST TO GO ACROSS- Vimannek (World's largest teak wood mansion? Is this worth going?)
- The Grand Palace
- Emerald Buddha (where's this?)
in d grand palace- Death Railway (where's this? worth going?)
is this the bridge on the river kwai..????FOOD- Basically, food on the streets...
MUST TRY KHA MU - PORK'S LEG RICE- Suan Lum Night Bazaar's got a huge open air food court.
- Chinatown, for chinese-style hawker seafood
YES THIS IS GOOD- Tony Roma's, just cos they have pork ribs. haha
TRANSPORT- Cabs (to also bear in mind that bangkok is almost always jammed up).
IF LATE AT NITE.NO MORE BTS OR MRTA, YES GO FOR TAXI- Tuk-tuks (cheap but might be time-consuming if they detour to other places to collect petrol vouchers).
NO TO TUK TUK IN BKK.NVR IN BKK. CUT THROAT FOR SHORT DISTANCE BESIDES IT'S VERY DUSTY- Trains (there are two types of trains, although i really don't know how long the nationwide railway strike is going to last)-
IF POSSIBLE TRAVEL BY BTS & MRTA ONLY COS IS CLEAN , COVENIENT & JAM FREEMASSAGES- Sukhumvit Road's got a lot of massage parlours, but their charges are generally higher.
- Pratunam's got cheaper massage parlours. (Is there a specific street in Pratunam, though?)
- HealthLand Massage Centre
CHILL OUT / DRINKING - Sarasin Road in Lumphini (pubs and bars)
- Silom (Skytrain Sala Daeng Station)
- Patpong (Silom MRT station)
- Nana (red-light district)
- Soi Cowboy (for nightlife)
- RCA (a lot of pubs. can anyone tell me where this is?)
- BedSupper Club, Sukhumvit Soi 11
would greatly appreciate if anyone can correct any mistakes above, and make further recommendations to interesting places

crap 500+ confirmed cases.. hmm.. i'll be going next month 2nd of July..it'll be a total waste of my leaves and $$$ if i don't go. Should I or should I not?
MAY BE NEARER TO THE DATE OR NOW CHECK WITH YR AIRLINE WHETHER U CUD CXL YR TRIP DUE TO THE H1N1 PANDEMIC. ASK IF U COULD KEEP THE CREDIT OR REFUND.
