anyone know where is the best surgeon in bangkok?
*
Yea...wat kind of surgeon? I think is best to do it here as it will cost more to do any kind of surgery oversea. Should there be any complications, you have to fly there to see the doc. Another cost involve would be accomodation and transportation.

How do u know they real registered doctor unless they are from Adventist chain hospital or well established hospital.

QUOTE(hemingway @ Apr 19 2009, 03:19 PM)
hey guys,

really need your help atm. i am planning to go to bangkok during my semester break (in june) with my girlfriend and friends and and we are planning on using airasia go holiday service which is inclusive of airfare and hotel room like package.

so any members whom staying in bangkok atm can tell me which hotel to choose from, cause there is a big list.

basically what i want in the hotel is just hygiene and near to key shopping areas.

here is my choices:

Sawasdee Pattaya Hotel
Sawasdee Sabai Hotel(Sawasdee Court)
Sawasdee Sunshine(Sawasdee Mansion)
Sawasdee Sukhumvit Inn
Sawasdee Banglumpoo Inn
Sawasdee Khaosan Inn
Sawasdee Smile Inn
Sawasdee Bangkok Inn
Sawasdee Sea View

if you havent notice, most of these are 3 star hotel cause we are students and we are sort of on a budget. if got any other hotels, you would like to recommend pls feel free to do so but pls keep in consideration that price factor is the main issue.

thanks alot guys
*
The hotel u have are all Mat Salleh area -Khao San (which I find too crowded). Since u book thru Sawasdee u should be able to read abt the hotels u have in the list.

Well, I have not stayed in Khao San but m a budget traveller too. I go to BKK almost every year , you can try www.staybangkok.com - Watana Mansion - I guess is only 750 baht a nite. They have got MRTA (5 min walk) n connects to BTS also, very near chatucak. Simple, clean, quite spacious room. nothing fancy abt the room. Taxi is always available outside the hotel. You can always take them to nearby Robinson, carrefour,Jusco ...a lot of shopping stalls at nite.

Is their River taxi (is not the speed boat, like u saw on TV or like those in baywatch). This boat can take many people. Is like their public transport . U must know how to get down at which pier where u wanna go.Check d map which pier u want to get down. Then press the bell. OF course u have to walk a bit.Less than 1km.There are many piers.

The time showed on your itinerary will always show the local time (that means the respective destination). If you depart from BKK at 3pm that means Malaysia is at 4 pm and by the time you reach KL is 6pm.Is abt 2 hrs flight. So if you depart from KL at 3pm, you will reach BKK @ 4pm (but M'sia is already 5pm)

Pratunam Market & centre is different. I think next to Baiyoke is Pratunam Market. Pratunam Centre is quite boring nothing there and only a few shop. And lot's food reflexology that only cost 199b per hr

Pratunam market is an open air across Pratunam Centre. There r lot's of shoplot outside.Got to go inside to shop.

Not really.

locally made products and food are cheaper than locally made products in malaysia.
But their imported ones are expensive. Food can be cheap too, provided you know where to find.

Anyhow, will be in Ayuthaya for the whole month of Sept.  rclxms.gif

Agree with you. Toyota cars in Thailand r cheaper than M'sia too. Just look at their taxis.
Been to laos & Vietnam, I find these 3rd world countries r very expensive. I ate wan ton noodle by the roadside cost me abt RM4.70 in HCMC, I find it very expensive for locals and myself but I guess the rates r determine by tourist instead of the local ppl affordability. There too many foreigers there. N I still find Thailand r cheaper & taste better. And as for ppl, I find the Laotion are very down to earth n humble.Love them.

i find the rate there's the lowest, in comparison to the others at Sg Wang and Times Square.

but still, no major difference.

i exchanged roughly 2 wks ago, RM10.45 = 100baht.

There's another money changer inside the NZ Magazine store at Midvalley's lower ground floor. I had surveyed and found this shop has cheaper rates than the 2 besides the escalator. Maybe due to its hidden location, it has less customers and thus the cheaper rates to entice ppl to go there. I always change my money there.

Oops...I mean tis one, they offer better price than d one near KFC...I think one of them called wawasan

Added on July 27, 2009, 11:20 pmJust got back today. It was cloudy from Friday to sat. And Sat it was a heavy downpour. Some ppl on street were wearing mask and all stewardess of AA too wear mask too.
Been to Hua Lam Phong (Chinatown )a few times just discovered that near the MRTA station there's a tram ride to Chinatown in every 30min. So if you don't wanna walk, jz take the ride. And there is this roadside stall at a junction that sells sour mango with their very own sauce - sweet, spicy & yummy...must try.cost abt 50B and is u want only d sauce is abt 35b. And also mus try the teochew "kueh chap" - (non halal). Is also available in probably in Penang or Kedah...but Thai one taste very peppery.

Was staying around Ratchadapisek area, I discover a late night to wee hours market near Huay Kuang MRTA station. LOt's of clothing, food, shoes etc...some ppl starts biz at 12 midnite. Some close shop at 5am. So late nite owl shoppers....u may head there too.And if u like seafood....Somboon Restaurant is located as u come out from MRTA station. They serve the best Curry Crab open till 11.30pm.See the website for yourself.Warning some taxi fellow may take u the so call SOmbon....btw, they only accept cash.

Hi,

Urgent help needed. Will be going there this wkend w parents n kids. Will stay at sukhumvit area near BTS. Which is the best way to go to golden palace area? can i use BTS to go to the nearest station near there then take boat at chraophraya river to visit those temples? And which is the best way to travel to pratunam market? thanks..

So sorry for the questions n not browsing it myself as i know i hv too short time to read all the pages here... n lately a bit bz at work. Sorry, hope u guys can help.

And one more question, u see ah.. will go with parents n kids ma.. need to worry abt the h1n1 or not ah? Thanks.
*
if u are worry too much abt H1N1, I suggest you dun go if your kids & parents has medical condition such as asthma, obesity, lung or hearts problem and others. If you are strong, it will only cos you just like normal flu.

Take prevention like wearing a mask. Get a N95 mask or 3 ply surgical mask.Take lots of vitamin C. Bring along a 50ml dettol sanitiser or wet wipes. You can carry them to the flights. Wash yr hand after toilets, before food or when is dirty.

ya i bot the hand sanitizer n mask already.

for pratunam market, I have to take taxi?
*
Depending on where u are heading from to Pratunam. If you have parents taxis is advisable.

Btw, since u r at Grand Palace, do go to Wat po & Wat Arun (Temple of dawn). U can skip Wat po but go to Wat Arun. From Tha Tien Pier , u take a ferry taxi across.

Pratunam may be hot & stuffy for your parents. You can take them for nite shopping @ Suan Lum market (there are food as well). IF you want clothing can go to Platinum mall. (close at 7pm) which is just across Pratunum.

wat.. the platinum mall close so early. luckily u told me. how bout other shopping complex like mbk ah clos at wat time?... those suan lum market, khao san close very late rite?

Umm ... I usually jalan jalan by ourselves n have not taken any tour before.

Again depending on which hotel u are staying to determine yr cost of taxi. When u get into arrival u can always op for van to take u to hotel otherwise exit gate 10 and call for a cab.

Is hard to get around with 10 ppl especially with old folks and children if you don't pre-arrange anything prior to your arrival there.
